Virtual veterinary service OneVet recently released a study identifying the best and worst U.S. cities for cats using the following ranking factors: number of pet-friendly rentals, veterinarians, pet stores and 2020 cat adoptions per 100,000 people and the number of cat cafes.

The BEST cities for cats:

  1. Miami
  2. Orlando
  3. Salt Lake City
  4. Pittsburgh
  5. Cincinnati
  6. Atlanta
  7. Denver
  8. Minneapolis
  9. Tampa
  10. Riverside, California

The WORST cities for cats:

  1. New York City
  2. Memphis
  3. New Orleans
  4. Jacksonville, Florida
  5. Phoenix
  6. Los Angeles
  7. Detroit
  8. San Francisco
  9. Houston
  10. Virginia Beach, Virginia

  1. Raleigh, North Carolina has great vets that specialize in kitties!
    I’ve been going to the same cat-specific veterinarian for over a decade. There is also a wonderful feline veterinary teaching hospital in the area.

  2. Correction! My bad! Obviously West Virginia isn’t a city. All the towns and cities seem very cat friendly to me in this state.
