8 Best Cat-Proof Toilet Paper Holders (2025) – Reviews & Top Picks

Cute cat sitting on toilet bowl with rolls of paper

Cute cat sitting on toilet bowl with rolls of paper Cats are strange creatures. Some of them will never give toilet paper a second look, but others will destroy it every chance they get.

A cat-proof toilet paper holder is essential if your cat falls into this latter category. Otherwise, you could come home to a bathroom full of shredded paper every day.

Usually, the toilet paper holders have a small slot that the toilet paper slips out of. You can remove the paper without an issue, but cats can only access a single piece. They can’t get to the whole roll, reducing shredding.

But it is important to choose a cat-proof toilet paper holder that actually works. Not all holders are made equal. Here are reviews for the most popular toilet paper holders.

  • The 9 Best Cat-Proof Toilet Paper Holders

    1. JunSun Cat-Proof Toilet Paper Holder — Best Overall

    JunSun Cat-Proof Toilet Paper Holder

    Size: 44″ L x 5.83″ W x 5.24″ H
    Material: Stainless steel

The JunSun Cat-Proof Toilet Paper Holder is one of the most popular toilet paper holders for households with cats, and for good reason. This is easily the best overall cat-proof toilet paper holder based on its features.

The JunSun paper holder barely has an opening. Unlike other models, your cat can’t get a paw inside. A toilet paper holder cannot effectively keep your toilet paper safe by turning it into a peek-a-boo game for your feline, after all.

It will also keep the paper safe from water, which is helpful if you have children. It is also rust-proof because it is made with stainless steel. The JunSun was crafted with aesthetics in mind. The left and right sides are matte acrylic, so you can see how much toilet paper you have left.

The nickel finish prevents everyday scratches and wear, keeping the holder looking newer for longer. The JunSun is large enough for regular and mega rolls.

    Pros
    • Rust-resistant
    • Almost completely closed
    • Water-proof
    • Large enough for mega rolls
    • Translucent
    Cons
    • A bit larger than some other toilet paper holders

    2. YOMESTE Wall Mounted Waterproof Paper Holder — Best Value

YOMESTE Wall Waterproof Toilet Paper Holder

    Size: 3″ L x 6.3″ W x 5.8″ H
    Material: Plastic

While this holder wasn’t made to be cat-proof specifically, the YOMESTE Wall Mounted Waterproof Paper Holder does the job. It is almost completely enclosed, which limits your cat’s access to the toilet paper.

The YOMESTE has a unique design that enables it to save space. While other enclosed holders tend to be a bit large, this one isn’t much bigger than your average holder. This feature may be essential if you need to fit it into a smaller bathroom.

It is made from plastic, which makes it waterproof and durable. It’s easy to clean and won’t rust. However, it’s made of cheap plastic. The YOMESTE is much cheaper than many other brands on the market, but you’ll pay for it with the aesthetics. If you care about how your bathroom looks, you probably don’t want to settle on this paper roll holder.

As far as its cat-deterring properties, this holder is great. We consider this to be the best cat-proof toilet paper holder for the money.

    Pros
    • Inexpensive
    • Durable and rust-proof
    • Smaller
    • Completely enclosed
    • Translucent
    Cons
    • Poor aesthetics

    3. WDNMD Cat-Proof Toilet Paper Holder — Premium Choice

    WDNMD Cat-Proof Toilet Paper Holder

    Size: 5″ L x 4.7″ W x 5″ H
    Material: Stainless steel

If you’re looking for a beautiful, cat-proof toilet paper holder, you can’t get much better than the WDNMD Cat-Proof Toilet Paper Holder. It has a simple brass design that looks sleek and modern in any bathroom. Since it’s made of stainless steel, it is rust-resistant and durable. It also installs quite easily.

The top surface is completely flat and works as a shelf. You can place your phone, wallet, or keys on top without worrying about them falling off. Of course, we don’t recommend leaving them there, as your cat may find them!

It stays closed unless you leave the front flap open. It’s easy to use, and even small children can figure it out. However, cats typically aren’t nimble enough to hold open the flap and grab the toilet paper at the same time.

The WDNMD is a bit more expensive than most, however. You’re paying for the aesthetically pleasing design.

    Pros
    • Modern and sleek design
    • Stainless steel
    • Flat upper surface
    • Closes completely
    • Scratch-resistant
    Cons
    • Expensive

    4. JOMOLA Pet Proof Toilet Paper Holder

JOMOLA Pet Proof Toilet Paper Holder

    Size: 14″ L x 5.71″ W x 6.18″ H
    Material: ABS

The JOMOLA Pet Proof Toilet Paper Holder is a fantastic option. The square design keeps the toilet paper completely enclosed. The paper drops through a small slot on the bottom, which is easy for people to access. However, it completely denies your cat access to the toilet paper inside. It is also water-proof.

The top of the dispenser is flat so that you can set items on top. It even comes with a small indent that fits most smartphones, keeping them safe while you do your business. The opening at the bottom is covered with ridges, providing a sharp spot for you to tear the toilet paper. This is a nice addition, though it isn’t useful in practice.

You’ll use the strong adhesive to install the JOMOLA toilet paper holder. There is no drilling required and no need to damage your wall. The adhesive is designed to support up to 22 pounds, so the odds of the holder tearing off the wall are slim. It even comes with a replacement sticker if you want to move it.

    Pros
    • Easy installation
    • Completely enclosed
    • Opening on bottom for easy access
    • Water-proof
    Cons
    • Can be difficult to re-feed toilet paper

    5. Busy Mom Store Adhesive Toilet Paper Holder

Busy Mom Store Adhesive Toilet Paper Holder

    Size: 12″ L x 6.69″ W x 5.35″ H
    Material: ABS

For a cute and simple holder, you may want to check out the Busy Mom Store Adhesive Toilet Paper Holder. The simplistic white design will fit bathroom themes quite well. The Busy Mom holder looks professional and high-end, even though it is one of the cheaper options.

Installation is easy and only requires using the adhesive backing. It won’t damage the wall as long as you don’t stick it to a painted wall. It seems to be designed for tile or a similar material.

The top of the holder is entirely flat, but your cat can climb across the top. Luckily, the adhesive is designed to hold quite a bit of weight. The design is waterproof, and the toilet paper comes out of the bottom, so there is no way for water to enter the holder.

To refill, pop it open from the front. Refilling is quite easy, but it takes some elbow grease to pop it open. Many customers consider this a boon because it effectively renders the design child-proof.

    Pros
    • Easy to refill and install
    • Waterproof
    • Simple design
    • Flat top
    Cons
    • Doesn’t hold jumbo rolls
    • Only works on certain walls

    6. IKEAR Toilet Paper Holders

    IKEAR Toilet Paper Holders

    Size: 27″ L x 5.31″ W x 5.31″ H
    Material: ABS

The IKEAR Toilet Paper Holders are larger than most. They can hold larger toilet paper rolls to an extent. We found them too small for the biggest rolls. Also, they will take up more room on your wall than most holders. Therefore, we highly recommend measuring your space before purchasing them.

The top is is large enough for soap, your phone, wallet, and keys. Some may decide that the larger top makes the holder’s overall size worth it. The IKEAR utilizes an adhesive strip for installation. It can stick to most types of walls.  We don’t recommend it for painted walls or wallpaper, however. It will likely damage these surfaces upon removal.

It is waterproof, and the opening is too small for cats, so you should also be safe on that front.

    Pros
    • Flat top
    • Easy installation
    • Waterproof
    Cons
    • Larger
    • Not suitable for painted walls

    7. Yeavs Toilet Paper Holder With Phone Shelf

Yeavs Toilet Paper Holder With Phone Shelf

    Size: 1″ L x 5.3″ W x 3.6″ H
    Material: Stainless Steel

The Yeavs Toilet Paper Holder With Phone Shelf is advertised to keep cats from messing with toilet paper. However, it is not enclosed. There is simply a small flap over the front of the paper, which may deter some cats but not all.

The stainless-steel design is sleek and modern. It won’t rust and is waterproof, but that doesn’t mean it’ll completely protect the toilet paper from spills. A small shelf on top is for your phone or other bathroom accessories. The top plate has a few small bends to keep things from falling off, a common problem with smartphones and slippery surfaces.

The edges are deburred to prevent nicks and cuts, a must-have feature for those with children.

    Pros
    • Inexpensive
    • Stainless-steel design
    • Small shelf included
    Cons
    • Not completely enclosed
    • Installation can be difficult

    8. Colist Toilet Roll Holder

    Colist Toilet Roll Holder

    Size: 11″ L x 4.96″ W x 5.11″ H
    Material: ABS

Compared to most other options, the Colist Toilet Roll Holder is inexpensive. It is one of the least expensive holders on the market. However, it is also smaller than most holders. It can’t hold large rolls, but it doesn’t take up much space in your bathroom.

The toilet paper is enclosed, so you don’t have to worry about cats or water. A window lets you constantly see how much paper you have left to quickly determine when it’s time to get a new roll.

A power adhesive is included for installation. However, it is only designed for smooth surfaces, not walls. Therefore, you’ll need to install it on top of the tile or something similar. There is no drilling necessary, which is always a plus.

    Pros
    • No-drill installation
    • Completely enclosed
    • Visual window
    Cons
    • Rather small
    • Not suitable for all surfaces

Buyer’s Guide: Selecting the Best Cat-Proof Toilet Paper Holder

No one wants to come home to a bathroom full of shredded toilet paper. It’s a pain to clean up, especially if water is involved. An easy, straightforward answer to this problem is to purchase a cat-proof toilet paper holder.

However, not all cat-proof holders are made the same. Some are cat-proof and keep the toilet paper enclosed in a shell. Others only deter some cats. There is no true way to know if a toilet paper holder will work for your home until you try it; you’ll have to wait for your cat to test it out!

However, there are a few things that you can look for that might determine if a toilet paper holder will work. We look at a few of these features here.

    Completely Enclosed vs. Flap

Toilet paper holders typically come in two forms: enclosed units and those with a small flap over the front. If you’re trying to deter a cat, your best bet is to purchase an enclosed holder. In many cases, the flap won’t prevent your cat from getting ahold of the toilet paper.

Some cats won’t like the flap and will leave the paper alone, but many won’t.

Therefore, we highly recommend getting a holder that hides the toilet paper. They aren’t more expensive than a regular toilet paper holder, so there is little reason not to get one.

You can try a flap if you don’t have any other option, but don’t be surprised if it doesn’t keep your feline away.

    Cost

An enclosed toilet paper holder usually costs around $15 to $25. That isn’t expensive, especially when most higher-end toilet paper holders cost about the same.

However, there are cheaper options. Surprisingly, they usually aren’t that much different and are likely made in countries with lower production costs. They are often made of plastic, but so are many expensive models. If you need to keep your budget low, you should have no trouble finding a holder to match.

Otherwise, we recommend looking at the features, not the price. Simply because a model is more expensive doesn’t mean it is better. Often, the cheaper options are just as good.

    Aesthetic

One feature that expensive holders usually have is an improved aesthetic. They look better, and for some people, that is a significant factor. Others won’t care what their holder looks like as long as it works!

You may have to search for a bit if you want one that matches your current décor. Most enclosed toilet paper holders have the same design; they’re white and square. However, there are a few brands that are different.

For instance, our premium pick is bronze and looks quite nice, and you’re paying for the improved design in that regard.

    Ease of Use

While you don’t want your feline to access the toilet paper, that doesn’t mean you should also have a hard time. When a holder’s first task is to stop a cat, it sometimes goes a bit too far and stops people from accessing the paper.

Look for holders that are easy to feed. Eventually, you will accidentally shove the last sheet into the holder. If you can’t get it back quickly, you may find yourself with a bit of a problem.

Changing the roll should be fast and easy, but the door should shut tight enough to prevent a cat from tearing it open. You never know when your feline might figure out where the door is.

The opening for the toilet paper should be small enough to prevent kitty paws from getting through. But it should be large enough to make getting sheets of toilet paper easy for you. After all, a holder isn’t helpful if you can’t remove the toilet paper, even if your cat can’t.

    Ease of Installation

Most toilet paper holders need to be drilled or stuck to the wall using adhesive. The method that works best for you depends on your situation. Many people assume that adhesive installation would be the easiest.

After all, there is no drilling involved. However, this isn’t always the case. Adhesive installation sometimes comes with complicated or lengthy steps. For example, you often have to leave the adhesive strip on for at least 24 hours before adding the holder.

On the other hand, drilling into a wall is easy. If you have a power drill, it should only take a few seconds, and you’re done. You don’t have to worry about how to get adhesive off the wall or if you put it on correctly.

There are other pros and cons of each method, however. Adhesive strips are great for those without power tools. They also don’t cause damage to the wall in most cases. On the other hand, they can’t be used on every surface. Painted walls are usually a no-go. You’ll need to install them on a tile or something similar.

However, a drilling installation will leave holes in your wall. It is also much harder to do on certain surfaces. You can’t drill through most tiles, for instance.

The one that works best for you may depend on the surface on which you plan to install it. If you need to put it on a plain, painted wall, you should probably find a holder that connects with screws. If you want to install it on tile, get an adhesive option.

    Durability

You don’t want to purchase a toilet paper holder only for it to break after a few months. If your cat is already going after your toilet paper, there is a considerable chance that they will try to go after your new holder, too.

If your holder is drilled into the wall, it is unlikely to fall off. A holder held on with adhesive is a different story. It can easily fall off, and the adhesive isn’t always reusable. As you might imagine, this can pose a problem for owners with large cats.

You also don’t want the holder to degrade or rust over time. Look for plastic or stainless steel options. The latter will be more durable over the long run but also more expensive.

    Conclusion

Keeping your cat out of your toilet paper can be a challenge. Luckily, there are many cat-proof toilet paper holders available online. For most people, we recommend the JunSun Cat-Proof Toilet Paper Holder. It is enclosed and should keep most cats at bay. It is aesthetically pleasing, too, but it takes up more space than other options.

If you’re on a strict budget, we recommend the YOMESTE Wall Mounted Waterproof Paper Holder. It isn’t the best-looking design, but it works and is much less expensive than most brands.

We hope our reviews help you choose the perfect toilet paper holder for your cat-related needs. You have several excellent choices, so be sure to do your research before you purchase one.
