Arrival Story:
Coco was born here at Furrydance Cattery. Her mom, Kely Bray, was a brown mackerel tabby and her father, Taddy Porter, was a red mackerel tabby. So Coco (her fancy name is Furrydance Colours Cove, a place in Cornwall, which is the region the Cornish Rex was discovered in way back in 1950) is a mixture of both her parents and is a brown patched mackerel tabby color. She reminds everyone of a cheetah, because she is long and slender and fast! She didn't like being a showcat, so we retired her from showing and she was a momcat for a while, a very sweet one! She is 'retired' now and livin' the Good Life!

A Day in the Life...

What I've been up to...for the past 18 months!!

OMC! Teri just told me that she hadn't updated my Diary in almost 18 months! It's hard to get good help these days, even for a cat!

When I read my last entry, I thought...MeWowZa, a lot has happened to me since then! I have retired from being a mommy cat! That's a big one! Yep, I am now Queen of the House forever! And I am happy to just have Disco and Brighton and Sammy (he doesn't have a Catster page yet...) to boss around.

Last year, me and Disco and Brighton got to travel to Blog Paws, a pet blogging conference and that was like being a movie star...lots of attention and pawpawrazzi and mingling with humans, cats, dogs and even ferrets.

Oh, while Brighton had his scary stay at the Emergency vets because of a urinary blockage, I too had to spend some time at the vets this year, too! About a year ago, I hurt my left hind leg when jumping off a tall cupboard. At least that's what Teri thought...

It turns out I had a slipping kneecap and it made me limp every day and my lovely leg was hurting! So Teri took me to see a orthopedic specialist and I ended up having surgery to fix my leg! Teri was thoroughly impressed with this hospital, VOSM in Maryland and they fixed me up so now I am able to be the slinky, fast and athletic cat I was meant to be...100% perfect in every way now!

In a couple of weeks, I get to fly with Teri to Salt Lake City to go to Blog Paws...just me, no boycats along this time! That's cuz I won a contest on our blog and got the most votes. Well, I am the prettiest, hahameow!

Oh, if you want to keep up with me (or the boys), you should probably come visit our blog called Curlz and Swirlz, cuz we are there almost every day and there's lots of cute pix and stories about us there. Here's the link:

Mama Coco

Coco is a mommycat!

She had her babies yesterday, and as always, mewmie takes the mommy cats in to her day hunting place (the V.E.T.) during their last week of pregnancy, so she can keep a close eye on them.

Usually what happens is the momcats wait until about midnight to go into labor and keep mewmie up all night! But not this time.

Coco only had about 15 minutes of visible labor before the first kitten arrived at 12:35pm, then the next one arrived at 12:50, #3 at 1:00, #4 at 1:05 and then Coco rested a bit and had the last one at 1:25pm.

Some of the staff at work had not seen kittens birthed before and they all congratulated Coco on her wonderful mothering skills and our mewmie on her wonderful midwifery skills.

Right now, mewmie thinks they are all boys...and 3 people were hoping for a girl. But just wait til they open their eyes and mew at you...who wouldn't fall for that??

There are 2 red tabbies, 1 black, 1 brown tabby and white, and 1 black and white and mewmie hasn't weighed them yet (she forgot to take her gram scale to work and her scale is even more accurate than the one at the V.E.T.'s) but they are all nursing and active and that makes her very, very happy!
