Arrival Story:
I found Kobe in October outside of my house, he looked a lot bigger than his age. I knew he was a kitten just by his face. Being that I bring in strays constantly it was no suprise when I walked in the door with him. The first night I had Kobe he was very sick, and I almost thought about sticking him back outside because I was afraid maybe he would make my other cats (Majic and Kitten) sick. I could never do that though. Kobe was honestly the most loving cat Ive ever encountered. There was just something very special about him. In March we started to notice he was behaving differently, he wasn't playing and being active lke the usual. He was in no way behaving like a kitten. We called and made an appointment with our vet for the next day. Later on that night Kobe took a turn for the worse and we called our vet and he told us to rush Kobe straight over. The vet checked him out and noticed his heart was very weak and he had a very high fever, and his breathing was bad. We had to keep him there over night. The vet told us to go home and he would call us in the morning but it didnt look good. I woke up in the morning to the news that KObe had passed away. I was completley devestated, I cried more than I can ever remember crying. It was even more heart wrenching because he wasn't even a year old. As for his cause of death no one is sure. One vet said it was possible he had injested Anti freeze (which I find pretty stupid because he was barely outside.) Another vet said he had a disease that is very common in strays...Feline something or other disorder...I cant remember. He said that there was nothing we could've done, he was going to die. The one thing I think to myself was that at least for the last six months of his life he was well taken care of and very loved. I like to think the reason he was so loving was because he knew that he didn't have long and wanted to make the best of his life and get as much out of it as he could. I rescued a 6 week old kitten this summer, Oscar. He is even more affectionate than Kobe was..Im not a very spiritual person I suppose, but I think sometimes that Kobe died when he did because he knew that there was another baby who needed saving. Maybe I sound insane!! I just like to think positive!
