I just wanted to wish my good friend from San Francisco, Baci, and her new fursband Redd Catt all the best in wedded bliss. I was bestowed as her meowaid of honor. They were married on Saturday, October 24th on board The CHRISTINA-O YACHT in Venice, Italy.

The ceremony went smoothly, the nuptials were romantic and sweet, and a great time was had by all at the reception. Chef and friend Rooster catered the entire event, and all of the food was heavenly!

I hope they are having the time of their lives honeymeowing in Crete. Can't wait to hear about your trip guys!

Aloha friends!

The word kismet is of foreign origin and is used in Turkish, Urdu, Hindi and Arabic. In Hindi it would be pronounced more like kismat, and it means "fate" or "destiny.

Whether it was kismet or luck, I feel very blessed to have won two drawings this week. I'm not usually a gambling cat, but I love playing lotto!

The first was ♥All Fur Fun's♥ HOT PAW Zealies Jackpot where just us cats - Frederic Chopin, Sam, Sasha, and myself picked lucky number 7 to share a great jackpot.

The second was the 53rd drawing of the Zealie Lotto Group. Charlie the cocker spaniel picked out the lucky numbered treats that revealed Dylan, Gizmo, and my lucky number 18. Wowza!

Well, I'm off to share my good karma with friends........

Tee hee hee! Happy April Fools Day!

Several of us kitties in the "Orange and White and We Look Alike" group swapped main photos today to confuse friends and amuse ourselves.

Well, I think it worked so well that even close friends didn't even notice the difference. I even tried baiting some good doggie friends with, "do I seem different today? Nothing was noticed, so I guess my swappee (the beautiful Ashley) and I really do look alike.

Some other great swaps involved Sparky and Winston, Bruce and Fillipusis, Andre and Micheal, Lewis and Boxie Brown, Dusty Miller and Kibbles, Alfie and Charlie, Sab and Sammy, Francis and Victor Gibbs, Nekko and Ginnger, Osiris and Buster, Clive and Titch, and transgender swaps (tee hee) Molly and Morris, Bo Peep and Sparky, Sweetie and Jason Cash, Nikki and McKinsey, Roxanne and Chance, Sparkman and Chloe', Sammy and Willow, Toby and Willow - now I'm really confused! I think there were a few triple or even quadruple swaps. (I apologize if I missed anycat or was incorrect about a swap.)

We sure had fun today! :-)

Yowsa! What a great excuse to be Irish for a day! I received so many beautiful Irish prezzies from friends, thank you all so much! I feel so blessed to know such kind and considerate furends.

Oh, and mom let me snack on some corned beef and tried to feed me something green called - cabbage? Ick! Loved the beef but hated that green stuff! I also really loved the potatoes but was on the fence about the carrots. It was also fun seeing everyone's decorated pages and appended Irish names. Totally fun!

Wowsers! It is common for it to rain a little bit each day here in the islands, but this storm has been a doosie!

The forecasters said to baton down the hatches and stock up on supplies for this whopper of a storm that is coming. We usually pay some attention to the forecast, but take it with a grain of salt (as they tend to exaggerate sometimes).

Well, this one arrived around 5pm Wednesday afternoon and has been dumping buckets and buckets on us here on Oahu and Kauai pretty steadily ever since. Last night was the worst! During the middle of the night there was relentless thunder, lightning, with gusty winds up to 35-40 mph along with more buckets and buckets of rain!! The wind and rain seemed to come from all directions and it seems that our backyard and street are somewhat flooded.

It's almost 8pm on Thursday and it's still raining! Sheesh! I just wish it would stop.

Aloha everyone! I just wanted to post an update in my search for good banana recipes. My friend Buster from Honaunau on the big island of Hawaii gave me this tasty looking recipe to try.

He writes, "Mom likes to make a double crusted banana pie with bananas. The apple bananas are especially good. You take bananas, crushed pineapple, brown sugar and cinnamon. Cut up bananas, enough for a deep dish pie crust, add a 10-12 oz can of crushed pineapple, drained about a cup of brown sugar and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon and mix all together. Put in pie shell, top with another pie shell. Seal and poke holes in top crust. Bake @ 350 until golden brown. It is great served warm with vanilla ice cream, Mom makes this all the time when she has an abundance of bananas. Hope you try it!"

Boy does that sound tasty Buster! Mom will definitely try it with our next batch of bananas which should be in about a month or so. Much mahalo for this recipe!

Mom enjoys having a garden. She really loves being surrounded by tropical flowers and especially fruits and veggies. So speaking of fruits - we are up to our eyeballs in bananas! We've never grown them before, but our first tree produced an amazingly huge bunch of beautiful apple bananas.

We hadn't tried an apple banana until we moved out to Hawaii. They are actually very tasty - not quite as sweet as the Chiquita-type banana and smaller with a firm texture. The stilly thing about bananas is that THEY ALL RIPEN AT THE SAME TIME!! So, here we are with about 50 beautiful ripe bananas - trying to find all the tastiest recipes for them. So far we have made banana nut muffins, chocolate banana popsicles, and bananas foster. Yum! Actually, I haven't tried the popsicles, but have had a nibble or two of some muffins and some ice cream from the bananas foster dessert. Mom puts bananas in and on everything too. Even dad will eat one for a snack because he says "they're soooooo tiny and cute." Believe me, he's not a huge banana fan either, but is quickly becoming one. If anycat/dog has a favorite banana recipe, please pmail me and we would love to try it out! Aloha for now.

I wanted to share some aloha and knowledge with my friends about the state holiday we celebrated yes ...

I wanted to share some aloha and knowledge with my friends about the state holiday we celebrated yesterday called Kamehameha Day. I love living in such a beautiful place enriched by its ancient Hawaiian history. The following description of Kamehameha Day was provided by Wikipedia.

Kamehameha Day on June 11 is a public holiday of the state of Hawaii in the United States. It honors Kamehameha the Great, the monarch who first established the unified Kingdom of Hawaii comprising the Hawaiian Islands of Niihau, Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Lanai, Kahoolawe, Maui and Hawaii. Kamehameha is known as the Napoleon of the Pacific for his achievements in warfare and diplomacy.

Establishment

The holiday was first established by royal decree of the ruling great grandson Kamehameha V on 1871. The first observance of the holiday happened the following year. Late 19th century celebrations of Kamehameha Day featured carnivals and fairs, foot races, horse races and velocipede races. Kamehameha Day was one of the first holidays proclaimed by the Governor of Hawaii and the Hawaii State Legislature when Hawaii achieved statehood in 1959. Considered a great statesman for his mastery of diplomacy, Kamehameha is called the Napoleon of the Pacific.

Today, Kamehameha Day is treated with elaborate events harkening back to ancient Hawaii, respecting the cultural traditions that Kamehameha defended as his society was slowly shifting towards European trends. The King Kamehameha Hula Competition attracts hula groups from all over the world to the Neil S. Blaisdell Center for the two day event. Prizes are awarded on the second night.

Floral parade

A floral parade is held annually from Iolani Palace in downtown Honolulu past Honolulu Harbor and the Prince Kuhio Federal Building through Kakaako, Ala Moana and Waikiki, ending at Kapiolani Park. June 11 is also the anniversary of the dedication of Kapiolani Park. The floral parade features local marching bands including the Royal Hawaiian Band (the oldest municipal band in the United States) and artistically designed floats using native flowers and plants. Many local companies enter floats for their employees.

A favorite floral parade feature is the traditional royal pau riders. They represent a royal court led by a queen on horseback, followed by princesses representing the eight major islands of Hawaii and Molokini. Each princess is attended by pau ladies in waiting. Pau women are dressed in colorful and elegant 19th century riding gowns accented with lei and other floral arrangements.

After the parade, the state celebrates a Hoolaulea, literally Celebration, or block party with food and music. Cultural exhibitions are also scattered throughout Kapiolani Park arts and crafts, games, sports and other events planned by the Bishop Museum, the premier Hawaiian cultural institution.

Draping ceremony

The most important ritual dates back to 1901 after the Territory of Hawaii was established. It is the evening draping ceremony in which the Kamehameha Statue in front of Aliiolani Hale and Iolani Palace on King Street in downtown Honolulu is draped in long strands of lei. The same is done at the Kamehameha Statue on the former monarch's home island, the Big Island of Hawaii. Outside of the state, a similar draping ceremony is held at the United States Capitol where the Kamehameha Statue there is also draped in lei in the company of federal officials.

Interesting stuff eh? Thanks for listening. :-)
Aloha â hui hou! [pronounced - ah loh' hah AH hoo'-(w)ee hou!] Aloha until we meet again!

Mahalo (thank you in Hawaiian) Sammy!

The way this one works is a little different than the original game. Each cat lists 4 things they like to do, 4 places they would love to be, and 4 things they love to eat, then names 4 friends to do the same via pmail and/or by giving them a pretty rosette.

4 things Abbey likes to do:

1. Watching Giants baseball and 49er football games from mom's lap.

2. Listening to the birdies outside my window.

3. Dashing around the house like a madcat just after midnight, every
      night.
4. Having my face and my back brushed - not my sides, tail, or belly!

4 places Abbey loves to be:

1. Sleeping on top of my cat condo.

2. Hiding inside any boxes left on the floor.

3. Cuddling on mom's lap - anywhere, anytime.

4. On the computer, hanging out and chatting with my Catster friends!

4 things Abbey loves to eat:

1. My NutroMax kibbles

2. Turkey!!!

3. More turkey!!!

4. Pounce treats

4 friends I tagged:

Mackenzie - 347179

Jason Hopper - 292502

Buster - 505659

Louis LeBeau - 117581

Have fun guys! I can't wait to learn more about all of you. :-)
Oh, I'd like to leave you with the Hawaiian word for friend -

Wow - I had such a great 7th birthday on Saturday! I feel so lucky and blessed with thoughtful and wonderful friends. I received so many rosettes and good wishes - thank you all for thinking of me on my special day. My page sure does look pretty and well decorated! The nicest it has ever looked!! !

As for the other stuff, my pawrents gave me a new racer mouse and several leathery mice with the tails I love to chomp on. As soon as I opened them - off with their tails! Mom says it's so silly that I have all of these mice and not one has a tail. It was afterall - my birthday and that's what I do. I also had some turkey and giblets Fancy Feast in a crystal bowl with little candles on it (mom will probably be posting photos this week). There were only 2 candles instead of 7 candles because mom said it would be a whisker burning hazard for me. I have SUPER long whiskers and I tend to break them by accident all the time anyway. Roasted turkey with a little gravy was my midnight snack supplemented with some Pounce treats. I got a new lei and cuddled with mom all afternoon - it was grand!

Today started out like any other Hawaiian day - beautiful sunrise, warming up to around 78 degrees by noon. But that changed in minutes. I was napping in my favorite spot on my cat condo when all of a sudden - KABOOM!!! I thought, "what the ...?" then KABOOM KABLAM CRACKLE!!! Yikes!

I ran to mom (my rock), but she too was freaked out by all of the commotion. There we were looking out the window together when we saw a huge lightning bolt, so we braced ourselves for the thunder to follow. This time it was louder and closer - it sounded like it started in our next door neighbors backyard. KABOOOOOOOOOOOM KABLAAAAAAAAAAM CRACKLE CRACKLE!! Then came a deluge of rain - and it's been pouring heavily for over 25 minutes straight now.

When mom checked the weather forecast for today it mentioned a 20% chance of rain. What a joke! I think those weather guys just get lazy and repeat the same forecast. I'm not a betting cat, but I really didn't expect a tropical storm today.

The National Weather Service just issued a flood advisory for where we live effective until 5pm hst. Hopefully this storm will just pass - and I will not float away with it.

Luv,
Da Boo

I've been tagged by my friend Callie!

Here are the rules:

Each cat starts with seven random facts about themselves. Cats who are tagged need to write the seven things in their diary and the rules. You need to choose seven cats to tag and list their names. Don’t forget to pmail them that they have been tagged and to read your diary, or send them a fun rosette announcing that they've been tagged.

7 Facts About Abbey:

1. I live in Kapolei, Hawaii on the island of Oahu, where Honolulu and Waikiki
beach are located. We moved here from Santa Clara, California almost 3
      years ago.

2. I was adopted from a cat rescue organization called Lake Cat Rescue (north
of the San Francisco Bay Area, CA).

3. I am a huge SF 49er and SF Giants fan, so these last few years in both sports
have been very difficult to say the least. Sheesh!!!

4. My favorite toy is any cardboard box. I like to turn the box sideways and sit
on top like Simba the lion king. I also like to pull the flaps in and hide until I
      hear mom calling for me.

5. I am a major cuddle muffin - a lover and not a biter or fighter. I just love to
be picked up and cradled like a baby!

6. My favorite treat is turkey! I love turkey!!! Gobble gobble!!!

7. I was raised with a very sweet pitbull named Teddie. I used to jump all over
her and bite her ears, tail, and neck but she never got mad at me for it. Boy
do I miss her and hope to see her at the Rainbow Bridge someday.

I am tagging the following 7 kitties:

Dexter 347903
Radley 409355
Opie 426332
Clarrise 188443
Leo 289921
Siouxsie 390020
Jacques 492348

Dear Diary,

I guess I've been a little shy and/or a little lazy about writing, but today seemed like the perfect day for me to start.

About a week ago, I joined this great new group called "All Fur Fun" and it really has been that and "fun for all" too. They have all these great games, silly contests, and special holiday activities. I was participating in their "treat me" game, where one cat/dog treats the previous cat/dog, then the next cat/dog treats that cat/dog, and so on. After several days and rounds of treats, I'm happily up to around 400 treats! That's more than I've ever even dreamed of having, and my belly is really starting to pooch-out (in a good way though).

On top of all the treats, I was emailed by Kansas (one of the group administrators), that I had been selected to be COTD for their group for 11/12/07. I was soooooo excited that I did a back flip off my kitty condo and really surprised myself and mom. After a little mix up in getting my COTD photo posted, I am happy to report that it is now my main photo.

I just wanted to give a meow-out to all my kitty and doggie friends to thank them for their continued support and friendship.

Luv,
Da Boo
