I have been asked by PetSaleAve.com to review a new toy for them. It is called Lucky Catnip Fortune Cookies and it is made by Jake and Micah. The cookies - there are three - come in a cute little chinese take out box with paper noodles. Each cookie comes with its own fortune, but your really don't need a crystal ball to know that I'll be taking a long and peaceful nap in the future after I get done playing with a primo nip toy.
These toys are big enough (3.5 inches) for bunnykicking, but not so big as to be overwhelming. They come in appealing colors, and are filled with 100% primo organic catnip.
The fortunes are sewn onto strips that are attached to the side of the toy. The cookies are well constructed and the fabric stands up to all the biting and kicking that I inflicted upon them. Some of the other fortunes are "You purr is a gift to those who love you", and "Trust your intuition to scratch things". I did that too, scratching my ears most thoroughly before getting very involved in the aggressive end of the review.
I have to say I enjoyed these thoroughly. Despite having a night to dry out, the fabric is still slightly soggy today, so you can tell I had a good time.
You can find pictures of my play/review session HERE. As you can see I had a very good time. The paper noodles were quite entertaining as well.
The same company also make catnip sushi and wantons. I sense a theme here! They also offer contemplation/play mats, lucky cat collars (please remove bell), and some very attractive kitty bandannas. While their tag line reads "for super lucky pets!" they are themed more toward the feline crowd.
PetSaleAve.com has been, to date, largely geared toward dogs, so the inclusion of new cat products into their catalog would certainly be welcome. (This the company that referred me to Caitlyn's K-9 where I get my Party Collars. They also have model sign up form. I need to sign up!)
In short, after thorough testing by me, I find this product more than meets my exacting standards and I give it a five star rating!

So...my Bean does these tackes things at her office, and usually she is very busy with these tackes in the spring when she spends lots of extra time at the office. Not NOW.
But because of some peoples she say should be publically flogged for waiting until very last minute to bring their tackes things in, she must spend extra time at the office this weekend, which is less time for me.
So she goes to office and I go outside yesterday and decide I should investigate storm drain to see if there are an Vishus Deers hiding down there, or, if not that, to see if I can find any mice or rats or bugs. So that what I do.
When she comes home, I see her pull car in, so I come out of storm drain. There is this man that lives down the road that has a chair with wheels on it, and I look and see him in street, coming back from store. He goes very slow, so I trot out on the street ahead of him.
Bean yell at me, get out of street, but I look at her and I look at him and why should I get out of street if it okay if he in it? and then I look back and suddenly out of no where a car is there and IT SCARED ME!
Well, I guess it scared her more because she say I nearly give her heart attack. So she not happy.
So today I on restriction and cannot go outside or use the computer, although I will sneak using the computer. I do not see why I should be on restriction today for something that happen yesterday and that is all over and done with. I was bad yesterday, yes. Today I was not bad, so I should not be on restriction.
Besides, I hear all sorts of animals on the roof and need to go check them out, not be stuck inside.
I do not get humans, because they do understand that what ever happen yesterday was done and over with yesterday and have nothing to do with today. They need to get their heads sorted out.

There was an article on Petcentric about Dogs and Cats getting lost and how humans who find apparent strays should not just assume that they are strays and should take steps to reunite them with their humans. This is all well and good, but with Cats, if they do not like where they are living, they will leave.
Cats are largely independent creatures and will not say in conditions they do not like. One of these conditions is overcrowding.
There are always stories of the old lady that lives in a house with 87 cats and I often read something, usually once a year, about one of these so called "Cat Ladies". There was a video recently about the lady in Moscow with 130 cats in her apartment! She say she want to help them but does having that many cats live in such crowded conditions really help them?
So I have been thinking...what is an acceptable number of pets? What constitutes a pet collector or a pet hoarder?
I do not think that there is a hard and fast number. If you take good care of your animals, they are all healthy and their is room enough for all of them to have their own area, then I would say you could have easily have more pets then someone you lives in tiny apartment in city, is not home often and cannot afford to take proper care of more than one. A family that is home more often then not will obviously have time to devote to more animals.
The other question involves level of care. Is food and water enough? Shouldn't a certain level of interaction be involved? Is a cat that is given food and water, lives in a house and ever goes outside, a pet if the cat never receives any petting or spends quality time with a human?
My Bean knows of a situation where a pair of humans have a colony of feral cats in their attic. They feel that because they feed and water the cats, and that the cats are inside, away from things that can harm them that they are helping them. But the cats do not receive regular health care from a professional (notice how nicely I sidestep that V word?) and they are not fixed, so they can produce kittens, which is how the whole colony got started. First they took in a pair, then the pair had kittens and then the kittens had kittens...
These, to me, are not pets and you are not really helping the animals. They live in fear of the humans and of the woofies that also live in the house and they will not come by the woofies or the humans. Also they fight amongst themselves, and often kittens are killed by the adult cats because the room is limited. This is a problem but these humans will not ask for help and local agencies will not step in as a it is a private residence.
On a similar note, there are the Infantis who own a Birman and a Main Coon, a Chausie, two cougars and a Siberian lynx. The cougars and the lynx live outside have enclosed cages and are allowed out of the cages and into the family's enclosed porch to play and interact with the humans. The two domestic cats and the Chausie all live inside the house. I think in this case, these animals are more pets than in the previous case.
What are your thoughts on this matter. What is an acceptable number of pets, and what is an acceptable level of care?
Because I know some of my readers have problems with my Xanga account, I put this also on my Blogger account so these readers can comment.

Tuesday is trash day. Bean come home from work and bin is laying on side by curb where trash man throw. "You could have brought it back up the house," she say to me.
I sit down regally in the driveway. "No." I say.
For one thing, trash bin 16 times bigger than I am. For another thing, I not a golden retriever to fetch and carry for her. And for last thing, my porch is flooded and I not get my paws all wet.
She starts pulling it up the driveway. "Must I do everything around here?"
"Yes." She is slave, that what slave for.
So then she come in and change furs and feed me. Fancy Feast, Chicken in Gravy. I like things with Gravy, I like to lick all the grave up first. Then I eat about half the chicken. She doing things in bedroom so I go find out what is going on in there. I am aghast!
Photo
Plush brothers have taken over my sleeping chair! Okay, I have not slept on chair in many months, every since sleeping carpet vanish, but that beside point. What happens if I want to sleep there again. One or two plush brothers I can push off, but ALL of them? I simply cannot believe this!
She doing her chores and I follow her from room to room to room, keeping eye on her. "Why are you following me?" she ask. I jump up on counter. She decides maybe I want crunch food and gets bag. Not much in there. Since she going to Pet Supermarket I point out I only have TWO feather-butt mouses left with feathers still in their butts and she should get me more. But I don't eat crunch foods, just keep watching her with unblinking gaze. "What?" she demands. "Oh, you're waiting for greenies!"
I swear, I get stupidest human in whole herd for slave. Not that I had any choice in matter, that just how it work out.
Day not total waste though. I go over to MeowMix.com and sign up for Sweepstakes to win culinary adventure with celebrity chef Cat Cora, or one of over 1,800 other great prizes. I do not know if this is chef that makes Meow Mix Market Selects, but if it is, I must have talk with her. We can only get three varieties here and I want at least one for each day of week, and at least four fish ones. And no beef ones. I do not eat beef.
I also like their new website. It has fun and interesting facts on it. One of them is cats pulling Freya Goddess chariot, but they forget to mention that because of this, cats were almost hunted to extinction by humans before we had to use our power of bubonic plague to save the species. I blog about this before. It is because of this period of genocide and because of the one that come when Christians decide Black Cats are servants of Satan, that there are really not true black cats left. Almost all of use have white gene and therefore we have some white on us. Which then makes us Tuxedo Cats, does it not? So I go sign up for Tuxedo Gang Hideway.
So this lots of work for good cat-cat for one day. On top of that when she get done with her chores including the cleaning of the litter box, we play with mousies for a while. Then I REALLY worn out. So I must take nap.
Photo
This is my impression of the way human sleeps. See how I have my head on pillow. She even puts her paws like that. I have seen her sleep many times. That is now how good cat-cat sleeps however.
Photo
This is how good cat-cat sleeps with feet up in air and tummy exposed! (See our new golden retriever fleecie? I hope it gets cold soon so I can cuddle up in new fleecie!)
It also seems there was some trouble with the flashy box. It take pictures okay, but it having problem with the video. She trying to take video of me exercising with mousies, but it keep getting stuck or something. I dunno. She said she having bad technology day anyway. Guess things not good with work computer. Oh well. Anyway, I not get video up, you will just have to wait!

I was sitting on nip mat this morning hoping that Bean would give me some nip. I am a real nip head sometimes. She know when I sit on nip mat, I want nip. However, she was getting ready to go to work and said she would nip me later. So now I unhappy panther until tonight when she come home.
In other news, the me-me went over really well on Pikapet. Many of the pets are doing it and everyone run around tagging other pets. So that is good because it gets to the pets to talking. Not many were doing updates. Petsplaces, on the other hand, delete my post. I guess they do not want pets talking. May disrupt things there. This now 4th post Petsplaces delete. I am now boycotting Petsplaces again, probably for another long time, not that they care. If I didn't like profile so much I would leave totally.
For those that worry bout me going outside, because I live as a wild kitty for a while, I very street smart. I know not to go by street when cars are on it and I will stop and not cross street if I see cars coming. Bean says I am the only cat she ever see, know how to cross street. I am also very careful with the other animals and generally don't confront unless it's like an amorous tom that just will not take the hint that I do not make kittens and leave me alone. Some of them, so pushy!
I get nip mat and nip from Catnipetc.com. All kitties should get their Beans to buy them the good Canadian nip from Catnipetc.com and get them a nip-mat too. They are very reasonably priced and do quick shipping. I highly recommend.

I get this Me-me from Forty Paws who just put out general tag and here are the guidelines.
The guidelines for this tag:
1. Link to your tagger and post these rules
2. Write some facts about yourself: some random, some weird, some just plain fun.
3. Tag 7 people at the end of your post and list their names (linking to them)
4. Let those 7 people know they’ve been tagged by leaving a comment at their blogs.
The challenge is to keep it interesting without making the reader think “Um, too much information…”
1. My left eye is droppy because I take claw in cat fight that leave big rip, all the way down to my nose. Bean has to clean my eye cause it get gunkle all the time, the tear duct doesn't work right. I also have scar down my face and on my nose from same cat fight.
2. My favorite treats are Feline Greenies. I will knock Bean down to get at Greenies if I have to.
3. I'd rather go outside to use the litter box. I can dig and dig and dig that way. Not enough stuff to dig in the indoor litter box. Bean says I should start excavating business.
4. I like to watch TV. Bean not much of TV person, so I will go next door to neighbor's house and watch TV with him. I do not like auto racing shows though, much too noisy.
5. I like to sit on Bean and have her read to me. Book we read now has cat named Mmrrr in it. I like stories with cats in them.
6. I like to go visit the indoor kitties down the street and the doggie next door, but I do not like them coming here. I do not like having other animals in my territories. I do like going to walk along the cannel with the other outdoor cats though. Sometimes we go get fish treats when people bring their boats in from fishing.
7. I have followed Bean to work twice and I've walked all the way to the top of the street to the Dog Bakery. That is VERY long walk. Bean says maybe she will get me stroller and take me to art and craft fair this winter, which is too much walking for me.
I now tag Sarah, Trixie and Misty on Pikapet, Snipper Dude, Big Dog Bruno and Lots of Pets on Petsplaces and Murphy on Petster for this Me-me.

12. I do not smell as bad as the dog.
11. I wake you up in morning so you will get to work on time.
10. I kneed you when you not feel good and I kneed you when you do.
9. I am better than reality TV because I do not have commercial breaks.
8. Anything you feed me will not make you fat.
7. I will not break down on Daniels Parkway and leave your stranded for hour until triple-A gets there.
6. You will spend less on me in my lifetime than you will spend on your kids in one year.
5. I am honest, trustworthy and loyal.
4. I wil protect you from anything that is not bigger than I am, and sometimes from things that are bigger than I am.
3. I did not poop on the carpet.
2. I will always listen when you want to talk.
1. I may not like those toys you buy me, but nothing says "I love you" more than a treat.

Well needless to say, Bean felt the need to dress meow up for the festive occassion of Meow Like a Pirate Day. You may find more pictures of Meow dressed like a pirate in my Dress Up gallery. Being part pirate herself, she is of course very familier with Talk Like a Pirate Day, which she will sometimes do at other times during the year as well.
Cape Coral, where we live, has a history of pirating in the surrounding island waters, with Black Ceasar being active in the Pine Island, Marco Island, Elliot Key and Sanibel Island area back in the earlie 1800's. Bean already celebrate Pirate Night on her blog earlier this year. They also have annual Pirate festival which run for weekend sometime in February or March every year.
While most felines have an aversion to water, they do make great sailors. They are better for sea voyages than dogs, because they do not need to be walked. Felines have traveled the globe on ships, both current and in history and of course, there were those cats that became pirates as well.
Here is a brief run down of some of the more famous feline Pirates:
Blueboy - A Tonkanese that was known as the scourage of the carribean, rats would rather sink on a ship than jump onto Blueboy's. He so loved to play with his food. When he wasn't ratting, he was busy making kittens. Most cats in Carribean Islands can trace their roots back to this profilic Tom Cat.
Blackie Bart - This feline perhaps the most successful pirate of all time, with the capture of over 400 rats and over 50 pounds of loot.
Annie Boney - She stole a sloop and was just as apt as fighting rats as any tom. She especially liked to attach fishing vessels and steal their catches.
Merry Red - A friend of Annie Boney, she once fought a duel with a Tom that threatened her mate.
Calico Jacque - The queen was known more for her brightly colored coat and her numerous kittens than she was as a pirate. She got more of a reputation hanging around Merry Red and Annie Boney than she did on her own.
Basic Feline to Pirate Translator:
FelinePirateWhat it means
Meow!Ahoy!"Hello!"
Meow!Avast!Stop and give attention. It can be used in a sense of surprise, "Whoa! Get a load of that!" which today makes it more of a "Check it out" or "No way!" or "Get off!"
Meow!Aye!"Why yes, I agree most heartily with everything you just said or did."
Meow!Aye aye!"I'll get right on that sir, as soon as my break is over."
Meow!Arrr! This one is often confused with arrrgh, which is of course the sound you make when you sit on a belaying pin. "Arrr!" can mean, variously, "yes," "I agree," "I'm happy," "I'm enjoying this beer," "My team is going to win it all," "I saw that television show, it sucked!" and "That was a clever remark you or I just made." And those are just a few of the myriad possibilities of Arrr!
Coming up next...Drink Blood like a Vampire night!

Tomorrow is Meow like a Pirate Day. I find this out on Cat Blogsphere which is place where you can go and have your blog re-purrr-ted so that other cats all over the world can read it. I'm afraid this means that Bean will want to dress me up tonight though so she can have pictures. Maybe I hide in my little tent, so she cannot do this. I hate it when she want to dress me up.
When she was little her grandmother have Chihuahua dog which always try to bite her and so she not like Chihuahua's much now. Later when she get older she find out dog not like her because she used to dress it up in doll clothes. That would expain it. I think her parents should have told her that was wrong though and not let her do it. But they think it cute. How stupid. I would hope she would know better but....Oh well.
In other exciting news, I get Bean to buy me Xanga premium so I can get rid of advertisements on my blog and so that I can have special module so I can add links and and stuff. Also, picture of Bean's old Bulldog - Samson - get featured as one of Xanga's photos of the day. That was nice and unexpected.
I also get Blogger account so that I can reply to the cats that blog on Blogger. I will not blog there, but I put my links to my blog and to my profile pags so that my cat furrrriends can find me. I hope that some of the felines that sign up for Xanga so they can leave me messages will do same thing, so I can find their blogs.
The little tail grabbers are gone but they leave me artwork, which I put up in Artworks album at Xanga. They leave me more colorings, but Bean has been hogging scanner. Puuurrrhaps I will get to put them up tonight. The trade off was that I would put the colorings on my blog if they would not try to include me in their arts projects. That way I not get glitter glue all over my furs!
Anyway, get ready to Meow like a Pirate tomorrow!

We have tornado yesterday but it not come here. Just the big lightning storm come here. The Tornado go up the river and then turned on Skyline Drive and went down there. 12 families - including some with pets - lost their homes because their condos got wrecked.
It flipped over four cars including a large work truck and knocked power out all over the city.
We did not loose power for very long. The lighting storm was bad enough though. Normally it do not bother me so much, but it was very close to house and there was lightnings all over. Bean had gone to laundrymat to wash her furs when it come and it was afraid she would get hurt. But she come home and was okay.
I like it better then Bean is here for the big storms so that I can protect here. Nasty tornado not get us when I around to chase it off!
I hope all the dogs and their peoples that lost their homes find places to stay.

What do humans dream about, I wonder. Mine sleeps very restlessly. She twitches around and sometimes she vocalizes when she dreams. I wonder sometimes what she is dreaming about. I think she should be dreaming about giving me treats, but I don't think that's what it is. I don't see her paws making motions like she's opening the treat package. Gggggrrrrr....
I dream about being a Panther and stalking my prey through the jungle. I am a mighty hunter in the dark rain forrest and i catch monkeys to eat. I am the silent hunter and all the monkeys keep looking over their shoulders wondering when another of their kind will disappear and become my next meal.
I wonder what monkey taste like.
Sometimes I dream I am a lioness out on the savanah. I see this on TV. I dream I bring down a gazelle and I call to my mate, Snarff, and he comes and we eat the gazelle and then we roar and roar and all who hear us fear us.
I wonder what gazelle taste like.
I dream I am Tiger, and I lounge the temples in India and I am worshipped as a goddess and all the world is food for me. I am the biggest and most vicious Tiger ever seen and all come from all over to see me and bring me offerings of goat and sheep to appease me.
I wonder that goat taste like.

It has become fall in the bathroom. First the show curtain rod thing fall down and go boom. I was NOT climbing on it. I was not trying to jump on it or anything like that. I was in the other room when it fall down.
Then human fall in the shower and go boom. I have nothing to do with that also. I did not push. I do not think it safe to be in shower, or to use that "soap" stuff or even to stand on 2 feets in stead of 4 feets. Humans are very unsafe creatures. Happily she was not seriously injured, although parts of her coat matched mine for a few days.
Then picture fall of wall in bathroom and go boom. I have nothing to that with that either. I cannot reach picture and besides, I was outside when it happened. Glass all over. Very unsafe. Bean clean up.
I hope fall just stays in bathroom and does not migrate to the rest of the house.

I was going crazy Saturday night. I zipped all over the house and suddenly discovered play cubes bean brought me days ago, I jumped all through them then I went like a cheeta -- zoom -- under the sink in the cabinet, in one side and out the other. I made like a Nascar in a race across the top fo the couch and flew off the end of the sofa and nearly jumped all the way from there into the bedroom onto the bed but didn't quite make it. Then I come running back through the house, swifter than Barbaro in Kentucky Derby, use the top of my litter box to launch myself onto the kitchen counter and then up from there to the hood over the stove then across the top of the fridge and down onto the breakfast bar...well...
I was excited!
I smelled a ratty! But I knew all that excitement would scare it, so I go to sleep when human does, and curl up next to her on bed. At 2:30 in the morning I get her to let me out of the bedroom, then silent as a shadow, I go hunting.
I have very sharp claws and I'm afraid I made a bit of a mess with this one, so human did not take picture. She did not think it would make nice picture. But I get that ratty. It was quite a battle. Get blood everywhere. Then I lay it out nice and artfully in front of bedroom door so human can have it for breakfast when she get up in the morning.
How rude! She did not eat it. She thank me for it, but she thew away! All that work and she does not want to eat it. Ah well. I do my job and she give me tribute of fish for doing such a good job. Then she clean up blood. Maybe she would have liked better if I had not made such a mess!

Smelly human jump in tub,
Need to take shower,
Scrub, scrub, Scrub.
Odiferous one, first give me food,
You may feed me in the nude.
Good cat at home need to eat.
Give me tuna and treat, treat, treat.
Now that hungry beast is tame,
You may go to baseball game.
Put on pants and put on shirt,
Don't stay out late and don't get hurt.
When you come home I'll expect the same.
No, my poetry is not lame!
Droolbucket?
Posted on Pikapet by Diamond on 10 Aug 2007, 10:56 am
So, I get up on Bean and I kneeding her...very important to kneed humans, it keeps them health...and she petting my ears and talking to me. And I thinking about all the nice things she do for me and all the treats she give me and I start salavitating all over. Cannot help it.
So she calls me Drooles the Cat and Slobberbucket, which I do not think very nice thing to say to good Cat, take time out of busy day to kneed human to keep her healthy.
She think it funny I get her shirt all wet.
Anyway, I hear her talking to someone about Dog the Bounty Hunter. I think I need to come up with new show, Cat the Bounty Hunter, bring in rats to justice. I think I will star in this and be celebricat. Good idea, right? Trixie and Snarff and Sarah-Dippy can be my posse.

Dog Days

It has been very hot this weekend, and even with air machine it is still hot in house. Even Bean has been taking catnaps through hotest part of the day.
Bean buy me playcubes from SportPet, but it too hot to play in them. Maybe I will check them out today, but so far, I was more interested in exploring under the kitchen sink. It is cool there with the waterpipes.
When I come out I have cobwebs all over me. I think they look nice. Bean not agree. Oh well.
She try to tease me, tell me Friday was cat night at baseball game and they are giving away free kittens at the gate. I knew they were not, she so silly. It was CAP night not Cat night. She think I can't read program.
Under the sink is one of my patrol areas. Sometime rats come in where the pipes are, so I have to check that area, make sure they do not come in my house. I also find a lot of bugs that come in that way too. It old house and pipes are not sealed in the foundation like with new homes. And they drain into stormwater system and that where the rats live. Sometimes when I am outside I will go down into part of the stormwater system see what I can find. i cannot go too far in though because I too big.
I hope you, all my furrriends, are keeping cool during these hot days of August.

Bean had gone to Cat show and while she there she see one of the pet strollers they have. She been thinking about getting one so that she can take me places with her. I not sure I like that idea because I do not like going in car. And besides, where would we go that I would be happy sitting in hot stroller? Wasn't that why she got photobook anyway? So she can take me places without me actually being there?
Anyway, while she there, she see feline fantasy land but did not buy because she still attached to having "fur"niture in the living room and say she did not want to chuck in favor of feline fantasy land. Some kind and caring Bean I have, think couch more important than me. But she not buy stroller either because she could not think of any places she would want to take me just then.
Well, today she remember because today is Dog Daze at her baseball game and she say "Darn, if only I'd thought about it before hand..." That okay. I do not really want to go to baseball game. If baseball players want to come here and pet good Cat then that is no problem, I hold court and you come to me, not other way around. I Queen Empress of the Universe and Slayer of Fowl Beasties anyway, not dog to take to baseball game. (Reptar will go to baseball game, but he like that. )
So good. She go to game, I stay home and make sure all things in my domain stay good and proper and correct and then take catnap. She decide to take plush brother St. Valentine of the Snow. He Saint Bernard. He will much enjoy the game better because he know commands lay down and stay. Those only thing he does anyway, except for roll over sometimes when you push him. Plush siblings not really much fun and two move into one of my beds. I say what! what! what! but Bean say I not sleep in that bed in long time, what do I care. Not the point. That my bed.
So fine. She take plush brother to Dog Daze at ballgame, I take catnap. Work out in everyone's favor. And maybe while she gone, I will evict plush brothers from bed and push them onto floor where they can play dead. Sounds like a plan to me.

I make new club on Petsplaces called Pikapet Orphans, but stupid PetsPlaces take it down. I am very angry at them again. I no longer blog at PetsPlaces because they delete my blogs.
I make new club on Petster called Pikapet Orphans. It still up. If you are on Petster please join us even though Pikapet is back. Petster never delete anything. Join it here!
I keep human safe from big thunderstorm last night. She very scared of loud thunders. I sit on top of her and purr and so she know she safe and big thunders not get her. I Pikadate Snarf and he thundercat, so I know thunders will not hurt me.
I catched some bugs and eated them.
I take long catnaps.
I get new furrriends on Petster. I have 110 Petster furrrriends.
I read my furrriends blogs at Xanga.
I play with my Yahoo! 360 page. I have to write reviews of petstores in area, but I not do that yet. I also think about making new website at Yahoo with Hello Kitty theme. Human make here websites at Yahoo. I not sure I like Freewebs. Too hard to update.
I have to write new article on cat talk, but I not do that yet. Maybe tonight. Now I take another catnap I think.

So I make group for Pikapet Orphans at Petsplaces and they remove it. All this is for is for those of us who had Pikapet profiles before site close to be together and chat and to wonder what happen to Pikapet.
My Furrriends this this is a good idea, but the stupid humans that run Petsplaces to do not agree. They think it take away from their service because we talk about another pet service that no long exist. So I only have club at Petster.
Feel free to complain to Petsplaces if you want but it will not do any good.
Here is my profile on Sleeping Beasts. What I do not get is I see pets not sleeping but how do you get to their profile to click not sleeping button? Oh well, anyway.
So if my Pikapet furriends are looking for me, I will be on Petster more than Petsplaces since I cannot seem to do anything right on stupid Petsplaces.

Where is Pikapet? It seems to have gone away for good. It has been down for many days now. I guess this means I will not win poppet I was trying to win for human to cheer her up. Oh well...what can a little cat do?
I look it up and it says it hosted by defenderhosting.com. They say before that they are having problems with their server, but their hosting company appears to be up and running. So I do not know. I send mail to admin address, see if I get any response.
So, I start group on Petsplaces for Pikapet orphans. I think I will do that on Petster too. If you a Pikapet Orphan on either of those services, please come and join my groups. And if you not a Pikapet Orphan you can join my groups anyway.
Meanwhile, I find new site for contests called Sleepingbeasts.com. It kind of like one huge catnap contest. So I submit my picture but I not get my approval back yet. But check it out and submit your picture too.
For my weasel friends I find ratemyferret.com. you will want to sign up to be rated.
If you know of other contests sites, let me know so I can enter!

Today is another Special Black Cat Holiday, a day when Black Cats get special treats and toys and pets and loves from their humans to make up for the atrocities visited upon Black Cats in the past.
Even though this Special Black Cat Holiday, all Cats, even though they not be black, can enjoy the day and get presents and treats too.
Humans call this day Black Friday. There are many beliefs for Black Friday and they say bad events surround it, but I think that is nonsense like many human beliefs. There is nothing more bad about one day than the other. But as they want to call it Black, I make it Special Black Cat Holiday.
This does not mean they may shoot off Black Cat fireworks on it, because they shoot off enough fireworks on Big Boom day last week.
Big Boom day does not bother me, although I some of my Cats and Dogs furrrriends do not like it because it noisy. I do not mind the sky booms. Sky booms are no worse than thunderstorm or when shuttle come in.
I do not like the noises though that these "firecrackers" make though because these are on the ground and close to my territories. Sometimes they are in my territories and I do not like when they are there. Aslo Sky Booms not hurt anyone, but sometime, bad humans do things with firecrackers, like tie them cat or dogs tail and think this funny. Sometimes they blow off their own hand with him, but not seem to think that funny.
My Bean concerned about Sky Booms because they may sent fires because it be so dry, but so far, no one has burned anything down with either the sky booms or the firecrackers.
Anyway, all Cats enjoy your Special Black Cat Holiday and all dogs well...go get your own holiday.

I like to look out the window about 2:30 in the morning. This is when things get interesting outside with all the strays that live there, and the racoons and the other night animals.
Human does not like me batting at the shades to see out the bedroom window, so I wake her up so she will let me go sit by the big window in the front of the house. Only bad thing is, I can't see what is going on around the other sides of the houses.
I have back window, but it looks at the room where the hot water monster lives and so I can not see the back yard. Sometimes some of the other animals come into the alcove there and sit on the outside of the Air machine and then I can see them. Sometimes I see the racoons!
Anyway, today I surprise human. She put me in living room so I can look at window, but at 5:30 I open door to bedroom. Then I go in and I do happy feets on her. She not really happy with this cause it wake her up and she say it not time for her to get up yet. I think 5:30 good time to get up. Early cat gets the early bird for breakfast!
She also get me Feline Greenies to eat last night. I not have Greenies in more than a week, they one of my favorite treats. Greenie, like my eyes! They also good treats for my teeth.
I sorry I still do not have video of my playing with remote control mouse. We working on that one still! I do not like what we have gotten on video yet so far. It not show me off to my best advantage.

(Meowed to tune of "We're an American Band" by Grand Funk Railroad)
Living on the street ain't where it's at
I want to be a pampered, pampered pet
I need to find me, some place to call home
With some nice humans to make my own
You take me in and show me some love
It's going to be like a hand in a glove
You may not know it, but I'll tell you true
I am the perfect companion for you!
I'm an American Cat
I'm an American Cat
I'm coming to your home, I'm gonna make it my own
I'm an American Cat
I come from shelter in Omaha
Or down the street from the Brooklyn Zoo
Some times I'm black, sometimes I'm white
Tabby or Tuxedo is quite alright
Now these nice kittens, they have a clue
They going to smooze right on up to you
You're gonna say "This one is so cute!"
Next thing you know he'll be a purring for you!
I'm an American Cat
I'm an American Cat
I'm coming to your home, I'm gonna make it my own
I'm an American Cat
(Repeat chorus 3 times)
I'm an American Cat, Mee-oow
I'm an American Cat, Mee-oow
I'm an American Cat, Mee-oow

Human want me to go outside today, but I elect to stay in so I can use computer and type to you, my furrriends.
She has been out of work for long weekend through Big Boom Day yesterday and keep coming in being very smelly. That bad thing about humans, they can get quite stinky.
Happily, they do usually groom themselves, although why they want to get all wet to do that, I do not understand.
But...when it get very hot, like it has been outside, they do this thing with their skins which they call "sweat". It cools them off, just like panting cools off dogs and Cats.
Dogs and Cats do not do this sweat and Cats, being naturally fascidious beings do not normally get smelly. We also very good at staying in cool places, instead of running around barking like fool dogs, so you do not see us pant much either.
But Cats do get hot just like humans and dogs. There are some ways to stay cool in the heat.
One way is to get human to put ice cubes in your water dish so you have cool water to drink. But you should never eat the ice directly, as this will cause your tongue to freeze and then you cannot pant and cool off. This could cause serious harm to you, including brain damage, so only put the ice cubes in the water dish and then drink the water.
I know we like ice creams too, but you should not get ice creams unless you have otherway to stay cool so that you do not have to pant.
Another way to stay cool is to lay in front of a fan. Fans are very nice contraptions human come up with. Mostly they just blow the hot air around, but laying right in front of the fan is very cool. It nice breeze. So this will help you keep cool.
Staying inside in the "air" is the best way to stay cool of course, but not all Cats and dogs are luck enough to be able to do this.
You can also lay down on cool surfaces, like tile floors or in the sink or the bathtub. Be careful human not turn water on you when you in sink or bathtub. On the tile right in front of toilet is usually very cool place in house to lay.
Many Cats and dogs will not eat as much in the summer either, so if we do not seem hungry, humans should not worry too much. Even though we like to sleep in the sun, we also like to have shady spots to lie down in to help keep us cool. If you outside Cat or dog or know of an outside Cat or dog, make sure their humans give them shady spot and not - especially in case of dog - chain them up in sun with no place to go to cool off.
We still needs exercise in the summer too, but keep play periods short - no more than 15 minutes so as not to overheat yourself or your human.
If you must travel, either by car or plane or some other such non-sensible human way, have your travel scheduled for the mornings or evenings when it is not too hot. It very important too that human does not forget you in that carry cage so make sure to Meow very loudly if they ignoring you.
Make sure you stay cool this summer my furrriends and stay healthy and happy. Purrs to you!

My Human Bean is very talented. She writes and she draws. She takes pictures and videos. She make very nice websites.
She is good to me too. She gives me many treats and pets. She knows all my itchy spots, like on the left site of head, under my chin. She gives the best skritches and I just LOVE when she strokes me from tip of ears down to tip of tail. She even strokes my belly and is always careful not to tickle me when she does.
Sometime she can be annoying, but I'm sure that I probably do things that annoy her and sometimes I do them just to annoy her, but we both do that to each other.
She buys me many toys and she buy me little tent and she play with me. She just buy me radio controlled mouse. Much fun! Maybe Wednesday we will try using the video camera as a computer cam and put me playing with radio mouse up on web.
She also work with Panthers and wildlifes and helps out animal rescue when she can.
What I want to say is...she is very good human bean to have.
There one thing she really good at though that sets her above all the other Beans in the world.
She Fish!!!!!!!
And of course, I get to have some of what she catch!

So we get rain, finally, but we also get fire. Lightning strike woods and set off fire in Old Burnt Store Road in Cape Coral. This fire is closest of all the fires that come to my house. 2,000 acres burn, many dog, Cat, and human beans must evacuate.
Gene-bean concerned that fire come to my home, but my bean say no, must jump many canals yet including big canal by Family Marina on Del Prado before it can come here. She say canals will protect us.
There maybe rain tonight that will help put out fire, but they concerned rain will start another fire. I think humans call this irony.
I sorry I not be online. The "air" was broken in the house, and it was very hot. I been smoozing neighbor and hiding in his house and watching TV there, where it not so hot as in my house. We finally get it fixed yesterday. For whole two paws worth of days air was broken. So hard to get lazy humans to fix things these days.
Probably why so many unwanted kittens, because humans to lazy to fix Cats. I not make kittens, I am good Cat.

Most exciting thing! There is Cat show coming to Fort Myers on July 21 and 22nd, which is next month! Plantinum Coast Cat Fanciers (CFA) will host the show at the Lee County Civic Center. While I will not go to Cat show I will sent human slave, as they have many Cat related products there and she can buy me many new things.
She groan because she say that busy weekend for her already. She have baseball game at "ungodly" hour of 10 AM on Saturday. I do not know what ungodly about it. Early to rise Cat catches the early bird for breakfast and is ready for Catnap by 10 AM. So she will be done with baseball game by noon and can go to cat show which runs until 4 PM. This give her plenty of time to buy many things for good Cat.
She can also take camera and take pictures of lovely purrrsians and bengals and I can post these on my blog.
After that she can go watch Eli outfielder play which is not until 7, and then they have fireworks. So what problem?
I will not go to Cat show because I do not like to be in car and I would not make good show cat anyway. I very beautiful, but judge have to pick you up and I do not like being picked up. So I would probably hiss or bite at judge and this would not get me very good marks for sociablity. But I do not think I would like to be show cat anyway, because you need lots of grooming and maybe a bath (water - yuk!) and then you need to be in cage from 9 am to 4 pm except when judge take you out for judging. So this does not sound like something I would enjoy, you know? Best that human goes and buys me many nice things. That is best way for good Cat to enjoy Cat show.

So there very nasty weather in area, lots of wind and rain due to Tropical Storm Barry and so Scout night get moved to August 4th. This also date for Great All Nighter, so perhaps I will do sleep out again and get badge and pin at same time.
Sleep out kind of fun, as I can visit all the tents and see what everyone doing. Not much sleep goes on though. Scouts like me to visit tent because they afraid of spiders and mice and know I will protect them. Obviously, they miss part about scouts being couragous if mice and spiders scare them.
What I don't understand is...if human clever enough to make rain in house when they want it to wash in, and can make hot house cool and cold house warm, how come they can't fix the weather outside the house? Probably too much work, humans pretty lazy.
Anyway, Bean know I will be disappointed to not see my troup on Scout Night, so she bring me toys back to play with. The badger one that hangs on the door is kind of fun. The Mystic Cat one is kind of meh. Maybe she put honeysuckle spray on it, I will like better.
I more happy her baseball game cancelled today so she will spend all day with me instead of running off to chase baseball males.
After she go to bed, I find mouse in house and catch and eat. I leave her head and tail.
"You could have finished it," she says.
Head not really juicy and if I not leave trophy part, how she know I doing my job?
As for Tropical Storm, Barry has been downgraded to Tropical Depression. Very boring. I think I take catnap now until lunch time.

Bean get pictures reprinted of meow. She is making fridge magnets for her family.
First she make fridge magnet for Mrs. Cheo. Then she make fridge magnet for us. But she put Eli Outfielder on our fridge magnet. She say I hang out on fridge enough that I do not have to hang on fridge as well.
Now she is making fridge magnets with meow on them for her mother and her sister who live in Ohio.
I think she should make many, many fridge magnets with my picture on them and sell them on line. Then I will be on fridges all over the country and everyone will know meow and I will be celebri-cat.
She says it take too much time and she not want to do this, but I think it very good idea. I think it would be very successful because I such a good subject for fridge magnets, having such a magnetic purrrsonality.
It rain today, so I hide inside. Maybe I help make fridge magnets.
I hope it not rain tonight so I can go to Scout Night.

Because I am such a might huntress, my Bean reward me by getting a Honeysuckle gift bag and playmat from Catnipetc.com. This is one of the sponsors of the rewards for Pikapet contests.
We get catnip before...good Canadian catnip that I went crazy over. I did not know if I would like this honeysuckle stuff but I figure, well...
Anyway, it comes with a little spray bottle, and I did not like the little spray bottle, but once she spray the hockeysuckle on the toys and the playmat...Oh my...I went bonkers.
It's not quite as good as the nip, but it's pretty good. We get three little balls, three little bowties, a big bowtie and a spider that is nearly as big as the ones we get in the house sometimes.
It was much fun. I rolled all over everything and licked all the honey suckle off the mat and the toys and I just attacked that spider viciously! That some good stuff.
And guess what Sarah? It made in CANADA. ("Ah yes," Bean quips. "Another fine Canadian export." She half thinking of her baseball male I think. =^..^= )
Made by Kitty Kottage in Edmonton.
Anycase, I just wanted you to know that it meets the Diamond test for fine and fun toyz. (Perhaps she will order more spiders.)
If you have gotten any really fun toyz lately, please let us know. I'm always looking for something new. But between the nip and the honeysuckle, I should be set for a while.
This come just in time, as I just recently demolished my flitterballs.

I stay inside today, but I go out for little while when Bean come home. I find Black and White dog in my yard. Bean say he Border Collie.
I do not know who he is or where he come from. I do not like him being in my yard.
So I make my tail big and all my furs to stand on end so I look scarey and I growl at him.
He run away, far down street.
Don't be coming in my yard!

There was a lot of smoke in the neighborhood yesterday. I worry now because I think maybe something close burning down, but human say no.
There was fire in Sar'sota (that close!) which is about 85 miles away that threaten homes and cause them close I-75 for a while. There is fire in Port Charlotte where the hurricane Charley went (that even closer!)
The fire in Lehigh that they put out started up again. One building was damaged and three homes were evacuated. Before we move that was very close to where we lived. Now it not so close, but still pretty close.
The fires in Sar'sota and and Port Charlotte are to the north of us, the one in Lehigh is to the east.
To the south there is fire in Bonita Springs, which was 400 acres on either side of Bonita Beach Road and is now contained.
The big one is in Collier county which is also to the south, with 13,000 acres burning, and the winds sent flames dangerously near some homes in the Southern Golden Gate Estates. This fire is FIVE MILES across and is in part of the Florida Panther preserve area that is set aside there for the Panthers to live!
So this is very serious situation, not just to humans, but to Feline Beans as well. Panthers very endangered anyway, do not really need to lose some of their habitat.
There are also some smaller fires for a total of 9 fires. Most of the little one are contained.
I do not think fires will come here where I live. There is much of the water around that the humans call Canals. This also why we get lots of rats.
If fires come there, they would have to get past these canals and it would make it very hard for fire to spread. We have very good firefighters here too.
All the fires do not stop the things going on here. Male Cat still trying to take over my territory. I run him off. He think he can hunt in my yard and I do not like him here. Tuxedo Cat and Calico Cat that live across street do not like him either, except when they want to make kittens.
Males are so annoying. You get rid of one and another one move in. This my territory and he need to respect that.
Our hockey team lose last night in triple overtime to Dayton Bombers in ECHL Eastern Conference finals. This was game one. I could not stay up for whole game and when to sleep. My Shantzee Panther did not play anyway.
Derek Damon, little guy Brad Zancanaro and Vince Bellissimo all score for Everblades. Game two is tomorrow night, hopefully they do better.

The moon was HUGE last night and orange. There was smoke everywhere and I thought it was on fire! But human say no, that just from fires in Lehigh. They had 1,000 acres burning all at the same time and 2 homes get destroyed. They say it is contained now and not threatening any more homes, but there still a lot of smoke from blazes within the contained area. Very bad. Human woke up coughing last night, smoke was so bad.
I do not know if crews from Estero go there to help fight blaze, so I do not know if friend Terry RedDeer out fighting fire, but if so, I hope he okay and that he stay safe.
Florida now declair state of emergency. 15 wildfires covering 1,400 acres ignited overnight and more than 90 percent of the state was experiencing drought. Lee County, where I live, is currently the second driest county in the state, according to the Florida Division of Forestry.

There was a big bug on the wall last night. I do not like when they go way up there by ceiling because then human see it and think I not doing my job. Well how am I supposed to get bug if I can't get at it?
Anyway, she sees it and gets out the spray can and sprays it. It start running round like crazy, then fly down and and run on the bed and the laundry basket and finally crawl under bed to die. You know, when it hit floor I was all about chasing it, but she still want to spray. Ick.
Then you can't even eat, no good. Spray spoils it.
What's a good Cat to do for fun?
Also, if bug can have wings, why not good Cat? Makes much more sense, I have much more use of wings than bug.
Human worn out from chasing baseball males this weekend. I think this funny, until she decide she too tired to go to store. She thinks I should go, get my own food.
What do I look like? Golden Retriever?
"Well, there was this penguin on the internet..."
You know, that oldest agreement between humans and Cats. I catch vermin and you provide tribute of fish. If you must go to store to get fish than go to store. Otherwise, take fishing pole and catch.
She finally go to store, but is grumpy about the whole thing. Foolish. However, I sit and purr on her later so she feels at least a little bit good about taking care of Cat-Godess like she supposed to.
Hockey team come home from Texas up 3-2 in series. Next game Friday. Human going golfing(?) on Friday. What is this golfing thing?
Also, where all this spam come from? I check e-mail box it loaded with spam. Most annoying. And not any offers for things for good Cat.

I see this on news:
King forward Artest won't face animal cruelty charges
What get me, is this part:
"County records showed that dogs owned by the NBA star have spent a total of 77 nights in the pound since July 2006, costing Artest nearly $2,000 in boarding and impound fees."
Me thinks that basketball male should not keep any more animials until he grows up enough to learn to take of them properly. Cats certainly would not stay with such a person.
Meanwhile, I sorry I not write. It has been very nice weather out and I have been going outside all day, every day. Must lay in the sun while it's available!
Panthers send back nice goalie to local hockey team that is kind to good Cat Cat. Bring Cat catnip from New York. Cat is happy! Team leads 2-1 in South Division Championship Series (best of 7 games). They playing in Texas this weekend. Maybe get catnip from Texas when they come back? (hint, hint. ::puuuurrrrr::)

Good morning Fuuuurrriends, I have many happy things to share with you today.
First of all, Happy Special Black Cat Holiday. From now on, all Friday the 13th are Special Black Cat Holidays, by declairation of Her Imperial Majesty, Diamond Emerald-Eyes Precious Black Cat, Queen Empress of the Universe and Slayer of Fowl Beasties.
Right now it only all Cat holiday, but I will make more up as I go along.
All Black Cats get special toys, special treats, and lots and lots of special petting and attention today. Because all Cats suffer in the middle ages at the hands of Evil Christian Cat Haters, all Cats may celebrate this holiday, although it is extra special if you are a black Cat or even a mostly black Cat.
Remind your humans to be extra kind to black Cats today, so they will benefit from the luck that Black Cats will give them. Obviously, you do not wish Black Cats to withhold their luck, or even worse, take it away from you, so they must be very kind to Black Cats.
The next order of business is that I make new group on Petsplaces.com called Diamond's Dubious Distinctions. This is a contest group with a bit of a twist to its tail. We'll be running some odd contests. Winners will get a special black Cat graphic to post on their site. I will post a sample of it to the group homepage as soon as I invent it.
Our first contests will be the Flash Monster Contest and the Great Girth Contest. I know some of you have the prefect entries for these contests, so join up and lets see those pictures! Post, post, post!
I'll be adding new ones as I make them up - although I already have a few made up. I just don't want to overwhelm everyone all at once.
Next my good friends Snarff and Trixie have joined Petsplace.com. Snarff is a beautiful Himalyan Cat who just went through a very tough time in his life with F.U.S., so he needs lots of love and your friendship. Trixie is a very Caty girl who will leave you laughing with her caustic remarks. Together we be worse than a pack of hyenas.
Make sure you add them and welcome them into all the fun we have at Petsplaces.com.
Human pull her back out last night. Figures, just when I start getting her healthy, so goes and does something again. Anyway, I knead her last night and she is lying there, whimpering about it. "How is sticking your claws in my supposed to make me feel better?"
What? Accupuncture - Ancient Chinese Medicine. Works very well. I surprised she not know this.
I have to get her in shape to go to ballpark tonight. She has fan club at ballpark I hear. I did not know she this popular. It was first game of series against Blue Jays, so we shall see if my vendetta against the species has helped the team out any.
I also notice in baseball program that May 16th is Islands Night with special appearance by Sanibel and Captiva. I think if Sanibel and Captiva going to put in appearance at ballgame, they should rename it PetsPlaces night, but then, humans always get things named wrong.
Bennie, I sorry, but neither Atlanta or Tampa Bay do well in hockey playoffs so far. Our local team starts playoff tonight against Charlotte, which is Rangers Affiliate. Bean was hoping that with Panthers out of playoffs that they would return our goalie, but so far, they have not done this. I suspect it will be short playoff appearance for local team anyway.
I think that about all for today. Enjoy your special Black Cat Holiday and your weekend if I do not purr to you before then.

My tent has come!
I can, hide in, the house now!
My little kitty heart,
Rebounds from gloom!
And all the birdies sing,
(sing, sing, sing)
And All the birdies Sing,
(sing, sing, sing)
And AllLLL the birdies sing!
Bean take camera to baseball game last night to take pictures of Pookie throwing ball, so I will try to post pictures with little tent tonight.

Aladdin and Zoe from Myers Zoo use old quote that "Thousands of years ago, Cats were worshipped as gods. Cats have never forgotten this."
This is true, and I say, once a god - or in this case a demigod - then always one. But the story goes something like this.
Cats became domesticated about 5,000 years ago in Egypt. The Egyptians grew a great deal of grain, and the grain attracted mice, rats and other vermin. The mice and rats in turn attracted small African wildCats who came and caught and ate them. The humans found this usefull, and so they began offering tokens to Cats to keep the around...fish heads and the like.
So the Cats stick around. Eventually some moved in with people and became household pets.
The Egyptians flourished and grew even more grain, which in turn attracted more vermin. This created a problem because there was more vermin than the working Cats could handle, so the Pharoh, who was considered a living God in Eygpt felt he needed to do something. He knew people would not want to give up their beloved house Cats.
He come up with an idea. Being a God, he declared the Cats Demigods. Since a meer human could not own a Demigod, this made the humans caretakers for the Cats and the Cats in turn actually belong to Pharoh. It was declared that part of the worship of the Cats was to take the Cat to a designated grainery and leave it overnight.
So the Egyptians do this, and the Cats of course, keep the rats in check.
It is well known that the Egyptians also worshiped the Cat Goddess Bastet, who was goddess of love and fertility. Obviously Cats are very loving and we also can have several litters of kittens a year, making us quite the experts on reproduction.
The problem with the worship of Cats is that it was illegal to export them, so it took a while before a few were smuggled out of Egypt and made their way over to Europe. But being very fertile, and having found a steady food supply in rats and mice, they quickly multiplied.
Europeans see the value in Cats as well and they quickly became known as companions of the Norse Godess Freya, and pulled her chariot. Of couse, in order to do this, they must be devine beings, and therefore, Demigods.
All was well until the Christians came along. Nothing against Chevy and other Fuuurrrriends who worship crucified God, but Catholic Church be a real pain in the backend for Cats through the centuries.
Freya was declared a demon and so Cats were also declared a harmfull animal. The executions of the poor Cats that followed nearly wiped out domestic Cat. But Cat Demigod not without power. As the Catholics waged their war against Felines, rats return and this time, they carry bubonic plague.
Humans get so busy dying from plague, that they not plague Cats anymore and of course, being fertile, Cats go forth and multiply again.
Unfortunately, humans still not learn lesson from this. Black Cats, who were especially loved of Bastet - black being a normally occuring mutation in first domestic cats just as they are in current day leopards - were persecuted by Catholic Church. However, enough escape that populations not decline too much from this, for ships needed cats for ocean voyages. Cats migrate to North America this way.
In modern times, we find Chinese people eating Cats and Dogs and because of this they use poison on grains to kill rodents. This poison gets into food suppy and kills Cats and Dogs and causes great pain and suffering to many humans who lose their beloved companions because of this. If Cats and Rat Terrors not treated as food in China and left to do their business, such rodentcides not be necessary and no one else get hurt.
(Diamond still say we should all eat Chinese in turn to make up for tainted foods, they readily available in America in Chinese restaurants. Fair is fair. And humans nothing but tiger meat anyway. I read that in Calvin and Hobbs cartoon.)
If Cats allowed to do their sacred duties and humans understood their roles better as lowly caretaker of Demigod Cat, there would be certainly far less trouble in the world today. (My human worship me quite well. If only she would worship me less with video camera. If she keeps it up, she will get her ankles bitten!)
Learn your lessons from history, and remember then humans, that Cats are Deity and treat them as such, before we sick plague on you again.

Well, human did get video camera. She also get new hoodie. She use "plastic" to buy these things.
I have tried hard to get my claws on this "plastic". I need to this shop online. Once I get my claws on this "plastic" I shall be able to have everything I wish delivered straight to house. I will not have to worry about human messing up order by having it shipped ground.
(I still have not get my little tent yet. I shall probably die before my little tent get here. Or at least be too old to hide anymore.)
However, she take this "plastic" away with her when she leaves the house. One of these days though...
Anyway, I was enjoying workout with mousie when she turned the video camera on me. I do not recall giving her permission to record my workout. Needless to say, I stopped very quickly and glared at her until she put camera way. I can see where this is going to create a problem.
Happy, I have enclosed litter box, so she will not be able to video my most private moments. I am really going to need that little tent soon, before I have nervous breakdown caused by human following me around with video camera.
I also wish to say that I believe furrriend Bennie said something about Global Warming. If part of Globe is warming, please let me know so that I can go there, because this part was very cold last night. The only thing that warmed up yesterday was the cat heater.
Cat heater best thing I got this year. I can sleep in front of cat heater and stay nice and toasty warm through long cold night. Bean call it "space heater" but this just a case of humans mis-naming things again.
Obviously, it heats Cat, therefore, it must be a Cat heater.
(I notice, BTW, that books SHE order after she order little tent for me come last night. So she can get books very fast, but my little tent? No, must ship GROUND. Probably Turtle Express or something. Oh well, they Cat books and one has shopping for Cats in it, so perhaps I should not complain too much.)
I also worried now though that with cold weather and snow, Easter Bunny will not get here Sunday with my Cat Candy. I sure to hope it Alaskan Easter Bunny, and not put off by cold weather. If it Florida White Easter Bunny, we might be in trouble.

My goodness I have many furrriends that I must wish Happy Easter to. If you not on PetsPlaces I did managed to miss you, then I wish you a Happy Easter .
I also write to Easter Bunnies, but in case I miss the important one...
Dear Easter Bunny
This good Cat has been very good Cat this year. Please bring Cat Cat Candy for easter. Thank you very much. You very cute bunny.
Your Furrriend,
Diamond Emerald-Eyes Precious Black Cat
My human Bean have some ideas of things to do this weekend, but she lose digital camera. So I wonder...Squirrels get nuts and bury them in yard, remember where they put them and dig them up months later. Diamond Cat remembers which furnitures she loses mousies under and tries to get them out, day after day, month after month.
And human can't keep track of one digital camera? How do humans function in world? They worse than headless chickens sometime.
Anyway, she think maybe she buy new one that also has digital video camera in it. So then she can take video of Cat. Cat would like this, as she could put on profile then and post on Catster too.
(Dear Easter Bunny, good Cat did NOT hide digital camera from human.)
But since I am thinking of profiles and things to put on them, who do you think has good profile? Who do you think has really good stuff on their profile? What sort of things would you like on your profile but don't know how to do?
Please post links to the profiles so that I can go and look.
There are two groups on PetsPlaces I find that can help out with profiles. These are:
We need cool pics for our pro!
The Paw Society
If you know of any more please let me know. I especially need help with my Catster profile.
Meanwhile, human come back from party and say Eli Outfielder say that team will handle slaughter of Blue Jays this year. Well, team lost to Reds in Sarasota last night, and if they cannot beat crumby Reds team they will not be able to handle tough Blue Jays. Diamond will continue her vendetta against Blue Jays until she has knocked them all off.
Then maybe baseball team will win in playoffs.
Have a nice weekend and may Easter Bunny bring you many good things!

I want to thank Chris and team for the making of PetsPlaces.com. I have been on - am on - several different pet oriented services and PetsPlaces.com is by far the best.
Originally I wanted myspace.com, but human did not think this was a good idea for a little Cat. There are pets there, but they are spread out and sometimes hard to find. Also there are people that will come and put pornography on good Cat's page for no good reason. So no myspace.
But Pikapet have place there and human learn of Pikapet, so she gets me profile there. I like the idea behind Pikapet. You enter you pet in a contest and you earn points if you win. You also win points for other things like submitting videos and links and for participating on the forums. You can then use those points in reward auction to buy things.
But many people - mainly ill mannered children who need adult supervision - find cute picture on web and "invent" pet, entering pet in contests. This not fair to real pets. Yes there are fake pets on other services, but not to the extent I see on Pikapet.
So, now I say Pikapet should change it's name to Fake-A-Pet, especially as they seem to do nothing to stop this from happening.
Petster is okay, but you cannot really do anything with pages, and the management seems to have vanished. Many teenages running around posting about this dog dating that one, Cats going out with rats and other silly nonsense. There is not sense of building a legitimate online pet community. Most of the groups are dead, and many of the members have not been on in over a year.
Catster, is obviously the place to be if you are a cat, but you cannot communicate really with other cats. There is no way to leave comments on someone's blog or profile page, so it okay to read, but there does not seem to be much in the way of participation. CatChannel.com allows you to post comment, but there is no blog and your profile is limited in it's scope. Both services okay, but not really worth catnip mouse.
The only problem I have with PetsPlace - and Misty (Mistygirl) say same thing - is that you cannot make multiple pet pages on each account. Cat must share with dog. However, nothing stops anyone from setting up more than one account, so I don't really see problem except it makes them a little harder to manage.
Fuzzster, I look at this and feel advertising is totally unsuitable for pet service. I not make profile there. PetBoogalo is worthless. Dating services for human with pets, both of them.
Anyway, just my opinion. Chris and team win blue ribbon and PetsPlaces.com takes home best of show!

Tigger get killed but new Tom Cat move into neighborhood, chocolate lynx point Cat. All night he walk around my house singing "I want to make kittens" song.
Handsome Cat but I do not make kittens and I not interested in his singing. You think he would catch clue. I swear sometimes I think all males, no brains.
So I cuddle with Bean all night as she keep me safe from marauding Tom Cat. Although I not much of a cuddlebug. Cuddling is something kittens learn at an early age from being handled by humans. Kitten not get lot of handling or get not pleasant handling, do not like being picked up by human.
This why is so hard to tame ferral kittens who are afraid of being handled by human. They never have that before.
I do not like to be picked up much and will only tolerate being held if I do not feel like my legs and feet are trapped. I like to feel like I can walk away if situation not to my liking.
So my idea of cuddling with human is sitting on top of or curling up next to and getting petted. If I sit on top, I will knead human and a lot of times, when I do this I drool a lot. Human call me slobber bucket, but she do it in a nice way and I not get offended.
My human is okay with the way I cuddle. She say when she have Miss Hiss, she the same way. Just like to sit on, not pick up, not held. So we get along okay together. She say Miss Hiss sleep on her though more often, which means either that can more tolerant of her flopping around in bed, or she not flop around as much when she younger.
Human going to party with baseball males tonight. I surprised she not walking around singing the the "I Want to make Kittens" song.
Anyway, Murphy say Torti not have kittens yet, but she getting close. I hope she be okay. Murphy not father, he nuetered, but he acting like expectant father.
I see on Make A Tail Wag store where they have Kitten Shower.
Do you give kitten shower before or after kittens come? Is this for all kittens or just celebri-cats kittens? Should we throw kitten shower for Torti? She probably just want the kittens to come out already, poor thing.
But that's what she gets for listening to singing Tom Cat.

1. Blaring Music (Cats do not like loud noises.)
2. People tossing and turning in bed
3. Yelling and raising your voice
4. Superstressed people (Cats can sense this more readily than one would believe.)
5. Dirty Litter Boxes
6. Tardy (late) feedings
7. The three C's: Car, Carrier, Clinic
8. Ill mannered children
9. Adopting another cat or dog (rabbit, small human, etc.) *
10. Forced affection
* If you wish to adopt bird, fish, mouse or rat, that fine, but do not cry if we eat.
I have to say my Human Bean is pretty good about loud noises and the like. If she want to listen to loud music, she puts on her earphones. She is considerate of her neighbors that way, which is more than I cans ay for the neighbors. She doesn't really yell, except once in a while when she get mad and frustrated with another human, but she does not yet all me. She stress, just like stress sometimes, but she not really a hyper person. So 1,3 and 4 doen't usually bother me unless the neighbors are doing something and I am outside. But then I can escape inside, where it quite. But this also why I do not like fireworks (loud noises) although thunderstorms do not bother me.
Tossing in turning in bed - I swear, if Bean clock me in head with big feet again I will bite her toes off. This drives me nuts. I get all settled down and she moves. Then I get all settled down and she moves again. Just go do sleep already! It's supposed to be restful activity, you're not supposed to bounce around like you running a marthaon! Most annoying thing, I tell you!
I go outside to use bathroom a lot, and I do not make such a mess in the little box that it need be cleaned every single day, but I like nice tidy litter box when I want to build sandcastles. Get off lazy behind and clean the thing! Is this asking too much. Most annoying thing, I tell you!
She feed me everyday, almost right on schedule, so I not complain. I try to get food earlier some days, but she won't fall for it. Must be after 5 and before 6 o'clock for dinner. Otherwise, I have dry food for whenever I want it.
The three C's...most annoying thing, I tell you! I hate car, I hate carrier and I hate going to clinic. She say maybe she take me to PetSupermarket so I can pick out my own toys, but when she stopped on Sunday on her way back from baseball game it was a mess. Turned out it was "vet day". I so happy she not take me. She get me treat though. So see, I do not need the three C's. Most annoying thing, I tell you!
I do not have any small humans here. However, I do not like small humans and stay away from them. They want to treat like toy and I not toy. I know calico dilute that love her small human. She go everywhere with it, lets it pick her up in most uncomforatable ways, lets her dress it like doll and when day over, sleeps in bed with it. She go outside so she could leave if she wanted, but she like small human. So fine, that her. I would not tolerate. Most annoying thing, I tell you!
As for forced affection, I get done grooming, I ready for evening nap. No kissy, kissy, no cuddling, no petting of nice clean fur and getting your human germs all over it. I want to sleep. Leave alone. You can do kissy, kissy, cuddle, cuddle when I feel like it. Most annoying thing, I tell you!

It has been very interesting weekend. Today we wake up and it smell like fire. I wonder what burning.
It has been very dry. Human and I go to review property to make sure there is no fire hazards on property. Lee County has been placed under a Burn Ban due to dry weather conditions. This does not really affect most people. It mostly means that they can not do burns in the Everglades, and that people that use fires to clear land for building or agriculture may not do this and must use alternative methods.
If you wonder why they would want to burn Everglades, well...humans messed up the natural ecology of the Everglades system which included periods of burning which removes deadwood and puts nutrients back in soil. Because of this, the humans now have to set fires to keep the system running properly. The only good thing of this is that animals used to get caught in the fires. Now with humans banging around in the swamp setting fires, all the animals leave the fire areas and don't get burned up anymore.
Backyard is very dry and human needs to water down grass in back and front with water from hose. I make sure I not around when she does this. All the dry conditions make for lots of dirt to dig in though, so I enjoy much digging. We also find remains of someone in backyard, There not enough left for me to identify coat pattern, so I do not know if I know them or if I ever know them. I can tell they from gray & white bi-color clan, but that is all. I think maybe they not get killed here either, that this is part of remains that racoons drag into yard and leave. Human take care of removal of them, so they not continue to draw scavengers and insects.
She also take pictures of Cat in backyard. She wants Cat do go up in tree, but I do not wish to climb tree and I do not wish her to pick me up and put me in tree, so she disappointed that she cannot do that. Too bad. But there will be new pictures coming of me soon. I do not take easter pictures though. She not putting bunny ears on me. Nor are we getting bunny, although she look at them in Petsco this weekend. I put my paw down on this one. No other animals in house.
Human spend much time at ballpark this weekend as baseball males are in season. I do not understand...I have her fixed last fall which I though was supposed to curb her roaming, but she still insists on going and chasing baseball males. Maybe I have her fixed too late in life and she is still following learned behaviours and will never change. I do not know. Baseball males are okay. I think game boring though. I would rather watch hockey on TV as I try to catch the pucks and sometimes the males too.
In any case, she as bad when baseball males are around as the neighbor cat that was singing the "I want to make kittens" song outside the house Saturday night. I tell you, it much nicer to be fixed and not have to worry about kittens for the making of them. So why human continues to mess with baseball males is beyond me.
She seem to enjoy it though, but then I must let her use computer so that she can post pictures of the baseball males on the internet for other humans to look at.
Friend Torti on Petster is making kittens, and she is NOT happy about it. She will not have another litter after this though, as she is going to be fixed. She has had enough of motherhood!
I find new (at least to me) Cat Community called CatChannel.com. I know have profile there now, so you can visit me there and leave comment. You can earn points for doing things and then redeem them for gifts, but I warn you, it costs lots of points to get free Cat magazine subcription!
I will write more later as there is more to tell. I want to go check out this fire situation some more though right now.

I tell Ellie Calico this story (Flopmop4 on Petsplaces.com), and she think it funny story, so I will tell you and expand a bit on it. This what happened when I came to my new home.
I was living with Loreta-Bean, who could not keep me anymore. So just before Turkey Dinner Holiday, she bring me to a new human who is to take care of me. This is why we celebrate my birthday on November 27th, because that is when I came to live with this new Bean.
Loreta-Bean bring me to her apartment and tell her I did not like going outside. I don't know where she got that idea from, because I always try to go outside! I lived outside and while I prefer nice warm house with a full plate of food to live in , I know how to live outside. And I like to go out and enjoy the sunshine, sharpen my claws on trees and make sure my terriorty is properly marked and patroled. How else to keep rodents in line if I do not police them?
But Loreta-Bean call me escape artist because I always sneak out of the apartment and adds that I would not come when called. Well, yeah, if you are going to trap me inside all the time, why would I come? Of course I am going to try to enjoy my freedom while I have it!
So this was what the big fight was over with this new human, and why I piss on her bed, because I want to go out and she wouldn't let me.
So we go through period where I sneak out and new human trick me into being caught. Food...feather sparkler...well, you get idea. But Diamond is not a stupid Cat. You do it once, maybe twice and I pick up on it and it doesn't work anymore. So...
One day I get out and she could not Catch me and had to go to work, leaving me outside. She probably worry herself sick all day about that, but I was good Cat and was waiting at the door when she come home. So then she figure, maybe I was not the moron Cat Loreta-Bean made me out to be. So eventually, but not every day, I was allowed to go outside when I wanted. So we didn't fight anymore and I didn't piss on the bed anymore.
I feel it prudent though not to let new human get too comfortable with situation. So I try going up on roof and pretending I couldn't get down a few times. Evidently, she is not overly stupid either, and knew I was trying to scam her and and wouldn't fall for it.
So no big production, no ladders and firetrucks and "here's some special tuna food kitty". She leave me up on roof once all night while I cry piteously. How hard hearted can you get? I down waiting at the door at daybreak through, because I want breakfast, especially after missing dinner.
Anyway, now I am allowed to go out and come in. I go by door and rattle the blinds when I want out, and I sit by door and meow to come in. If she is slow to come when I call, I will bang on the door.
When I out and she wants me in, sometimes I come when called, usually if I'm done with whatever needed doing outside. Sometimes I come when called if food is offered, if that is better than rolling in dirt or stalking bird. Sometimes I spend whole night outside to get in touch with my inner-panther.
I do not go in street or around cars. If something dangerous comes that I cannot handle I will go on roof or hide on porch. I hide good. Or I go hide in tree. I can go see people when they come by and get pets, or I can chase birds and ratties and lizards while I am out. I like to go down in the storm pipe because ratties hang out there. I like to go to neighbor's yard. I sit in window and tell neighbor's inside Cats all about outside and what they are missing.
The weather is nice now. I do not like being outside when it rains, so if I know it going to rain, I stay inside.
Today I go outside when Bean wake up to let me out. It still dark out then. I check things out, then meow to come back in and get treats and Catnips from Bean before she goes to work.
Now I write blog, and then I take Catnap then maybe have some lunch. If Bean had little tent overnighted, I could hide in little tent, but no, she have it shipped ground. I will never get to hide in little tent it will take so long to get here!
I think I find some new Cats on Petster, but I already ask to be friends with them, they just never online.
I think that all for today furrriends. Have a nice weekend, if I do not meow at you before that.

Bean tell friend Tony's mom that she is going to sign up for Pug Meet Up and take me to Pug Meet Up.
"That won't work," she says. "She doesn't look like a Pug."
"You don't think I could pawn her off as a black Pug."
"Not unless you smushed her nose in with a hammer." (Ouch! That would hurt!)
"How about a Black Pugle? Their noses aren't smushed in."
"No, I don't think they'd buy that either. The tail would be a dead giveaway."
"Well...what if I told them she was a Pugle-Puss?"
"Now that's a new one..."
She THINKS if she starts taking me to PetSupermarket and PetsMart and Petsco she can get me used to going in car and being around people.
"Can't you just start by putting her leash on her and walking her to work?"
"She won't walk on a leash. I put the leash on her and she lays down. She expects me to pick her up and carry her." (Of course, much easier than walking.)
"But if I take her to PetSupermarket," Bean says, "she might be okay with that because she can pick out her own toys and treats."
Now that might not be a bad idea. I always want to go to PetSupermarket. I wonder if it is a long car ride, because I do not like to go in car! I AM member of PetSupermarket VIP Club!

Ah...I get my catnip yesterday from Catnipetc.com. Bean had is sent to her work. We were both surprised that it came so quickly. There was also a nice thank you note enclosed, but no catalog. Website is nice, but Bean wanted catalog.
But she bring it home and put box on bed and I try with all my might to get into box while she is puting the rest of her things way. I could really smell it and I wanted it NOW. So she takes out playmat for me and then puts catnip down on playmat and went totally crazy on it. That's some good stuff they are raising up in Canada, let me tell you!
But once I get done with that I am all tired out and not in the mood for long blog entry. But there are some items to go through, so...

So someone pull Tigger's carcus off the road and throw it onto one of the lawns. About half way through the day, these BIG birds came and started eating on Tigger's carcus. Not crows. I've seen those before. Bean Called these Vultures. They are very ugly birds and they are bigger than I am! I didn't know birds got that big.
When they showed up, I went on the porch and sat on the green chair and watched them. Usually when Bean come home I go meet her in the driveway, but when she came home Friday I just stay on the chair. They birds flew to the top of the neighbor's house when Bean drove up but that wasn't far enough away for me! Bean of course was not afraid, she is not afraid of anything.
"What's wrong?" She ask me. "Those birds too big for you to take out?" Well, not just that, but they didn't look very tastey either, with those ugly heads!
Finally, the people's whose lawn that was came home and took Tigger's carcus away. So the big ugly birds left.
Yesterday, the gentleman down the street stopped by while Bean was offloading the car. "You have the most beautiful cat," he tells her. He lives with Tabby cat.
He admire my coat and my eyes and my markings. There is a black Puuuurrrrsian that lives down the street too. He is funny, every time a dog comes by his yard, he runs down to the street to chase it off. Dogs are on leashes anyway, they not come into his yard.
The Tabby's gentleman was very nice though. I like it when people admire me.
Then I have cat greenies for the first time. These are to clean your teeth (no brushing) and to improve your breath. They look weird but taste pretty good. These were ocean fish greenies, there are also salmon greenies that Bean buy for me. I also get more Cat Candy, which is the best stuff. Bean go to PetSupermarket again and I am now member of the VIP club, because I am very important.
They try to get her to switch my food again, but she does not want to do that until after the recall is over and says besides, they don't have the kinds of foods I like in gravey, so I probably wouln't eat it. She ways the lady at the store says none of the Foods on recall were found in Florida, but that's okay, she doesn't want to chance it.
She also says until they give her sample to see if I like, she won't change foods because she can't see wasting money on something I won't eat.

I'm sure everyone has already heard about the massive food recall, right? 51 Brands affected are affected, so please check your food carefully.
Here is a link to the manufacture who's had the problem...
http://www.menufoods.com/recall/
In addition, Hill's® Pet Nutrition, Inc. has announced a voluntary precautionary recall in the United States and Canada of a very small number of canned cat products that are co-manufactured by Menu Foods.
Hill's is voluntarily recalling the following products:
1. Science Diet® Kitten Savory Cuts® Ocean Fish 3 oz. and 5.5 oz.
2. Science Diet® Feline Adult Savory Cuts® Beef 5.5 oz.
3. Science Diet® Feline Adult Savory Cuts® Chicken 5.5 oz.
4. Science Diet® Feline Adult Savory Cuts® Ocean Fish 5.5 oz.
5. Science Diet® Feline Senior Savory Cuts® Chicken 5.5 oz.
Rat Poison on wheat which was imported from China is being blamed for the recall.
I eat Purina ONE dry food, which is not affected by the Menu Foods pet food recall. Neither is Fancy Feast, which is the canned food I eat, which is also made by Purina.
The other food I eat is Meow Mix Market Select, which is made by Del Monte Pet Products, and is not subject to the recall either.

Bunny friend Clover from Petster pass over the Rainbow Bridge yesterday. He have GI Stasis. I do not know what this is, since I do not know bunny diseases, but I look it up online.
GastroIntestinal Stasis is called The Silent Killer in bunnies. A rabbit's intestine can become static for a variety of reasons, including (1) stress, (2) dehydration, (3) pain from another underlying disorder or illness (such as gas, dental problems, infections, or urinary tract disorders) (4) an intestinal blockage or, (5) insufficient dietary crude fiber. Left untreated, the slowdown or complete cessation of normal intestinal movement (peristalsis) can result in a painful death, in a relatively short period of time. If your rabbit stops eating or producing feces for 12 hours or more, you should consider the condition an EMERGENCY. GET YOUR BUNNY TO A RABBIT-SAVVY VETERINARIAN IMMEDIATELY.
Clover was a lop-eared bunny. You can find her tribute page here.
The English Lop may be the oldest breed of domestic rabbit known to man. It's origin is lost in the mist of time. Research has found it existed by 1700. Records indicate that it was exhibited in the British Isles in 1846. Little is known of the development of this fascinating breed of rabbits which is know as the "King Of The Fancy". Like most breeds, there are many interesting stories about them. The English Lop is probably the best known breed of Lop. There are others, among them being the Swiss Ram, Danish Lops and French Lops. At one time, there were even varieties such as the Half Lop, a rabbit with only one ear lopped over; Horn Lops, Lops with ears twisted such as those on a Ram; and many that were created or shown for one reason or another. English Lops revoked the most favor in England and for many years, it was almost unheard of for any rabbit but the Lop to take the coveted "Best In Show" award.
So this make me sad. If Easter Bunny is dead, who will bring good cat Cat Candy for Easter?
Then this morning Bean and I discover that tiger tom cat that Bean calls Tigger got hit by car last night. I just fight with him yesterday!
I not too sad about this because I did not like Tigger and always fight with him. He only interested in making kittens, like he did with tuxedo cat across street, and I cannot make kittens. So he gets mad at me because I will not make kittens with him and attack me. I always fight him off.
He not have easy life, because he ferrel, and will not come by any humans. Bean feel bad for him, but there nothing she can do to help him, he do not want to be helped.
Bean bleeding heart anyway, wants to save every cat in world.
It probably better off that he die. This way, he not suffer any more, and I know he not be doing too well the past few weeks as he had hurt paw. Hopefully he will be nice to Clover on other side of rainbow bridge and not try to bully her or make kittens with her.

Today's entry is a pictorial on Stinky the Rental Cat who works at the Del Prado Inn. Because Catster does not allow us to add pictures to our diaries, even when they are hosted on Photobucket, you will have to read about Stinky on my Xanga Blog.

Cats are perfectly content to live alone or in the company of humans. We are not by nature, really sociable animals, although sometimes cats will bond with each other or even - Godess forbid - with a dog and become family. Humans however, seem to think that because lions live in prides, house cats should do the same thing.
They do not realize that lions are the exception in the cat world, not the norm.
Also, humans are social animals, so they think that their companions must be the same way. As a result, one day you may find your human gifting you with a puppy, kitten or even a small human. Here are some tips to help you deal with the problem.
If a puppy is bothering you, you should strike the puppy very hard over the nose or muzzle area with your claws extended. Drawing blood is perfectly acceptable. If the puppy is unusually persistant, you may need to combine this with a growl which means to same thing in Cat and Dog. Hissing is pointless as dogs don't hiss, so puppies aren't going to speak the language. This will usually send the puppy running back to the nearest human who will laugh and then say "Well, that's what you get of annoying the cat." It will also allow you to get back to whatever important activity you were attempting to engage in, such as eating, sleeping or grooming.
Kittens can be disciplined with just hissing and growling. An unusually stupid one might need to be struck, but as they speak Cat perfectly well by the age of 8 weeks, they generally take a subtle hint, and do not require an unnecessary waste of energy.
Humans are difficult. They only word in Cat they understand is "NO" and most of the time, they don't think that we know what it means.
You may strike a small human to discipline it, but make sure your claws are pulled when you do that, otherwise the next time you wake up you will find your paws hurt and that you have no claws left. It is not acceptable to ever scratch a small human except as a case of last resort when you have tried everything else in your power, such as batting, hissing, growling and moving to higher spot in the room. You may also wish to call the small human's behavior to the attention of the larger humans, and they will take care of the disciplining of it for you.
I hope these easy hints help you adjust to your new living style. Unfortunately, you will be stuck with it whether you want it or not, so you'll have to make the best of the situation.

I have good weekend.
Thursday I get cat jewlery. I not sure what up with that, but it hang on my collar. I would rather not wear collar, but Bean says if I go outside, I have to have collar on, otherwise someone might think I do not have a home and steal me. I do not think they would do that, but I like this home, so I humor her.
I get a crown, because when people come over they say "Oh is this your little princess?" and I get a shamrock because I Irish cat. I am not little princess, I am Queen Empress of the Universe, but humans are so dense. I am glad that I have mine firmly under my mind control.
Anyway, she think cat jewlery is pretty and it little, so it hang on collar and make her happy. Sometimes it is good to humor the humans.
Friday I get Catster Plus! I still not play much with it with codes, but I'm working on it. Now I will have to have many more pictures taken of me to fill up Catster Plus photo album! But NO MORE dress up photos!
Saturday, Bean brings home Pitt'r Pat Cat Candy which is my favorite treat! I eat a whole tin! She also brings home Nutro Max Salmon Treats that I like and little furry mousies with feathered tails. She only give me three so far. I pull tails off. I know she has more in the bag. More cat candy too!
They try to talk her into changing Cat Food to Nutro Max but then I read where Nutro Max Gourmet Classics and Nutro Natural Choice is on recall list, so I glad she does not change foods. I eat Purina One dry - I like the Salmon and Tuna flavor with yogurt - and Fancy Feast and Meow Mix Market Select. These are not on recall list.
Human go to baseball game, so I go outside ALL DAY until human come home. Then I eat. Then, when human leave to go to store, I go outside again and I stay outside ALL NIGHT. Now, you might say "Diamond, why you want to stay outside when it cold out and sleep?" because it was cold this weekend, but sometimes I like to sleep outside. It gets me in touch with my inner-Panther and reminds me of my wildness - even if I do have to wear collar with silly cat jewlery on it.
Sunday I sleep all day after catting around all night. But when human go to leave for store I ask for toys. I think this mistake, because I think she realizes I have Kitty Telepathy now and may be more wary of things I put in her mind. BUT - come home with flutter balls, which are little balls with feather on top. Name reminds me of some Tom Cats I know. Kind of like little birds, they more fun to chase when human throws them then they are to bat around. I not pull feathers off yet.
Then I win things from Pikapet! I win Pink Safari Kitty Litter Mat from Felinerina, and One Pound Kittybags Canadian Leaf & Buds Catnip and 9 x 12 Kittybags Catnip Playmat from Catnipetc.com. So, I set for a while with catnip! I also win 4th Place in Pikapet St. Patrick's day contest. Dumb dog wins. Now who would vote for dumb dog over me? But that only down point of weekend.
I hope you all have nice weekend too!

My Human writes:
Cats are so good at training their humans...and we never even seem to realize it...
It used to be, that I couldn't sleep with Miss Diamond in the room with me. We even had a somewhat unkind term - Plaquating the Cat - which meant gluing the cat to the wall on a Sunday morning so she could not walk all over the humans and wake them up.
Not that we would ever really do this, of course, but sleeping with the bedroom door shut to keep Diamond out became something of the norm. I remember this now...vaguely. She probably used some form of Kitty Telephany to erase the entire thing from my mind.
What I'm not sure about, is when I got to the point where I couldn't sleep without Diamond. But several weeks ago, during a nasty bought of bronchitis, I suddenly found myself begging her to please come into the bedroom with me, so I could get some sleep.
Sadly, all the coughing made her uncomfortable, and she didn't really like curling up with me. She did however, deign to sleep in the same room, but on her chair. She simply would not share the bed with me in that condition. Didn't want my human germs all over her, I guess.
I think she figure out the telepathy part when I send her to store for kitty toys today!

And this is no blarney! Domestic Cats are not indigineous to North America. The North American Domestic Cat was brought over by the New England settlers, who brought their cats from Europe, England and YES! Ireland!
With all the mingling of bloodlines since that time, it is certainly fair to say that most, if not all of the domestic cats in North America right now can lay some claim to Irish heritage!
So...show off your green (especailly if your eyes are that color) and enjoy this wonderful Irish holiday!

I want to be in Tabbyland! And I'll tell you why!
According to the book "The Complete Encyclopedia of the Cat", every cat has a tabby pattern in it's make-up, even non-tabby cats. You can sometimes see this in non-tabby kittens which have vague , but still quite clear tabby markings that disappear as they get older. Very occasionally, the tabby markings remain visiable, but only in certain lights - like when cat is lying in the sun and you can see markings on legs and tail. These fadded tabby markings are called "ghost markings". (Ghost markings are considered a fault in many breeds.)
Because all cats carry a tabby gene, two solid color cats will sometimes have tabby kittens in their litters. (The cat across the street, which is a Jellical or Tuxedo cat, gave birth to four tabby black tabby kittens, but I think the father was the orange tabby stray that My Bean refers to as "Tigger".)
Tabby is a camouflage pattern that enables the cat to merge more or less with it's enviroment so it's prey does not see it and it can hunt more successfully.
Cat's develop the Tabby pattern when they inherit a dominate agrouti gene (A) from their parents. The pattern comes into being because the agrouti gene, to a greater or lesser extent, suppresses the production of the basic color on the hair shaft in specific places, so that a set of alternating dark and light-colored band is formed on each hair, but it then misses out the hair in some places. These retain their basic color over their whole length and form a pattern on the agrouti background.
There are four different types of tabby patterns: the ticked tabby, the striped or mackeral tabby, the classic or marbled tabby, and the spotted tabby.
The ticked tabby is often called the Aby Tabby because the coloration was first seen in the Abyssinian breed of cat. Somali and Singapuras also display ticked tabby markings. A ticked tabby gene will usually mask the operation of the gene that causes a striped or marbled coat. Ticked tabby is not so much a pattern, but the absence of one.
The stripped or mackerel tabbies are popularly called "tiger cats". Stripped tabbys have uninterrupted stripes on their bodies, although sometimes these stripes are interrupted by spots. Preference in shows for for uninterrupted, thin stripes on the cat. The stripped gene is dominant over the classic tabby pattern.
The classic, blotched or marbled tabby has butterfly markings on each side at the height of the shoulder with a broad stripe running along the back from the butterfly to the tail. The cats also have an "Oyster mark" on both flanks, surrounded by one or more closed rings.
The spotted tabby has the same markings as the stripped and classic tabby, but on the sides and back they have a clearly defined pattern of spots. The Ocicat is a good example of a spotted tabby. Norwegian Forrest Cats also display a spotted tabby pattern.
When naming a tabby the basic color of the cat is always said first - for example a Blue Stripped Tabby or a Lilac Classic Tabby. A cat is never really a "Brown" tabby. A "brown" tabby is either a black tabby or a "Chocolate tabby" as Chocolate is the color designation for brown in cats. Most brown tabbys have a basic black coat with brown markings, making them "Black Tabbys".
A tortoiseshell tabby is called a tortie tabby, but to be a true torti tabby, the pattern of the coat needs to be visiable in both colors, and not just in the red and cream parts. A tortie tabby must have tabby markings in the basic color eumelanin (black, chocolate, cinnamon, blue, fawn or lilac).
Now, I say I am a Black Tabby. I have a black coat with black markings. It all looks the same though, so of course, every says "Oh, you are a black cat," which is true! But some of my hairs have two colors on them, black and white, so I do carry a tabby gene. So, since I am a black tabby, I think I should be allowed into tabbyland! Don't you?

My friend Torti, on Petster, made a comment about my Bean playing with a Mountain Lion. Bean is not playing with Mountain Lion in her pictures, she is playing with Florida Panthers.
Tortis says "Mtn. Lion ?, Fla Panther ?...they look the same to me !!..." so in order to help out Torti and anyone else who might be wondering about them, there are some differences between a Florida Panther and a mountain lion.
The Florida Panther (Puma concolor coryi) is one of more than 20 subspecies of cougar (Puma concolor). Until 1993, the cougar was classified in the genus Felis along with the domestic cat, the ocelot, and 27 other species. In 1993 the cougar was reassigned to the genus Puma. (So we was once close cousins, now we are not quite as close cousins as we were.)
You can not really call them mountain lions, because there are no mountains in Florida. In fact, there are not any really big hills. I suppose you COULD call them Swamp Lions, if you wanted to, but Florida Panther what their real name is.
Concolor means one color. Cougar adults are a uniform tawny color with lighter fur on their lower chests, belly, and inner legs. Shades of individual animals may vary considerably from grayish to reddish to yellowish. Kittens are born with spotted coats that fade to the tawny color as they mature.
The subspecies name coryi comes from naturalist and hunter Charles Barney Cory who first described the panther as a subspecies of cougar in 1896 in Hunting and Fishing in Florida. He named it Felis concolor floridana, but floridana had already been used for a subspecies of bobcat so scientists changed the name to Felis concolor coryi.
The Florida Panther has been isolated from other Puma populations for at least 100 years, and so there are some physical differences between Florida Panthers and the typical Western Cougar.
The Florida Panther is smaller than the cougars in the West and has longer legs, smaller feet, and a shorter darker coat. In 1896 Cory described the coat as "more rufous or reddish brown" than more northern cats. Male panthers are larger than female panthers. They weigh from 100 to 150 pounds; female panthers weigh between 60 and 100 pounds. Panthers vary in height at the shoulder from about 2 to 2 1/2 feet and measure from 40 to 80 inches from nose to tip of tail. (I am only about 1 foot tall at the shoulder and weight about 12 pounds, so they are much bigger than I am!) Male cougars in western states stand almost 3 foot tall at the shoulders and may exceed 98 inches in length.
The skull of the Florida Panther is distinct from other subspecies of cougar. It is relatively broad and flat with highly arched nasal bones, giving the face a roman-nosed appearance.
The Florida Panther also often has a right angle crook between the second and third vertebrae from the end of its tail, a whorl of hair or a "cowlick" in the middle of its back, and white flecks in the fur on its neck. The crook in the tail and the whorl of hair may be the result of inbreeding within a small population and are not defining characteristics of the subspecies. Kinked tails and whorls have been reported in other subspecies of cougar, but in much lower frequencies. The white flecks in the coat on the neck are thought to be the result of tick bites.
Genetic studies have revealed that panthers in South Florida, where I live, may belong to two distinct stocks: those in the Everglades and those in Big Cypress. Everglades cats may be descended from seven captive South American cats released into Everglades National Park between 1957 and 1967 from the Piper Collection of Everglades Wonder Gardens.
This idea is supported by an absence of kinked tails in the Everglades population.
Florida Panther once ranged through much southeastern United States from Louisiana through Tennessee. Currently, only about 70 adult panthers remain in national and state parks and nearby private lands in southwest Florida, making them among the most endangered animals in the world. A few individuals have been reported in Southeastern Georgia as well, but these are generally limited sightings and Georgia is not considered part of the current range of the Florida Panther.
Panthers are strictly carnivores: they only eat meat. About 90 % of their diet is feral hog, white-tailed deer, raccoon, and armadillo. Occasionally they consume rabbits, rats, and birds, and on rare occasion alligators.
Panthers feeding on large prey are heavier and healthier than those that feed on small prey. A panther has to kill and eat about 10 raccoons to equal the food value of 1 deer. To maintain their health and fitness, adult panthers need to consume 1 deer or hog per week. Females with kittens may need twice this amount. Juvenile kittens, like teenagers, need more food than younger kittens.
Florida Panthers are shy and usually avoid people. There are no documented cases of a Florida Panther attacking a person. Other kinds of cougars have on rare occasion attacked and killed people. Between 1900 and 1995 cougars killed 11 people in North America. Your chances of being killed by a cougar are far less than your chance of becoming a victim of lightning, honeybees, moose, deer, pit bulls, football, snow-shoveling or crossing the street in front of your house.
If you ever feel threatened by a cougar, you should stand firm, yell and fight back. Don't play dead. Never turn your back and run. Running triggers a chase instinct in cats and other predators. Crouching may also trigger attacks. Cougars are generally intimidated by humans standing upright. Put small children on your shoulders. Dogs may attract cougars. So if you're in cougar country, leave pets at home.
(Much of this information was taken from Florida Panther Net, which includes all sort of intersting facts on these cats.)
The Panthers that my Bean is playing with are part of a captive breeding program and travel the state to promote Florida Panther conservation. Money to keep them is by private donation, although Florida Panther conservation is also promoted through the sale of Florida Panther license plates in Florida.
It is noted that the Panthers in these pictures are really well behaved and are just really big babies, and that Bean was never in any danger while she was playing with them. Some of them like to play in the pool with their human attendants. However, private individuals should not keep Florida Panthers unless they are trained to care for their special needs and can provide adequate housing and food for the animals. You will also need a special Exotic Animal permit to keep a Florida Panther as a pet. It is much better to find a gold domestic cat at your local shelter, and adopt him and give him a good home, than it would be to try to keep a Florida Panther as a pet.
Bean is wearing a Florida Panthers sweater in one of her pictures. The Florida Panthers hockey team takes there name from the animal, and has also raised money to help the conservation efforts so that Florida Panthers will be part of the Florida Ecosystem for generations to come.

Last year’s PugFest drew more than 1,000 people and 250 dogs. More than $3,500 was raised to benefit the Southwest Florida Reading Festival and the Animal Care Trust Fund. For more information, visit leelostpets.com or lee-county.com/library and click on the Pug Idle Logo. Pug Idle contest entry forms are available online or by calling 239-432-2090 ext. 241.
Tony is a good dog and the humans say he is good looking, for a Pug dog, I guess, but I don't like him to come over too much because he eats everything! He even tries to eat my toys!

Bean get sick yesterday and have to go to vet today. I think "Better her than me," but then I think that mean.
Bean does lots of things for Meow. She get food and make sure I have plenty to eat and she gets treats for meow too. She gives meow fresh water, although sometimes I'd rather it sit around a while. I do not like water fresh from the tap, it taste funny.
She get catnip for meow and toys. She play with meow, with catnip and toys. She pets meow and grooms meow and takes stickers and things from my fur when they get stuck in there. She put special things in my fur so I do not get fleas and other pests in it and flies to not bit meow.
She clean my catbox for meow and put in fresh litter and take out dirty poop. She open and close door and let meow outside and bring meow in, although not always when I want, but usually does a pretty good job of it.
When there are bigger animals in the area that threaten meow, she keeps me safe. She read to meow and she let meow watch TV and she help meow with internet and blogging.
So she is good bean and take really good care of Meow. So then I feel bad that she is sick because I think maybe I not taking such good care of her.
When I get sick, I go to Cat Hospital. It special vet, just for cats, no dogs or rabbits or other animals. I like this because when I not feeling good, the big dogs in the vets office can be scarey.
When she get sick, to goes to see Human vet that she call "IMA". Today though she say he have to go to "Clinic" because IMA is "booked", whatever that mean. (I listen in to conversation when she call into work.) But she get medicine to take and comes home.
I nap with her. I also give her good kneeding, because this is good for human's health. And her head hurt her, so I put my nose in her ear and purr, as this makes it feel better. I sleep on her too, so she knows I care about her and want her to get better.
All Cats who read this, take special care of your humans today. Give them good kneeding so they do not get sick. Soon my bean will be well. I will take good care of her until she is feeling better.

Bean go to bookstore run by cats this weekend. It called One for the Books on Del Prado Blvd. I suppose I could walk there, but it would be really long walk.
Abby used to run bookstore. She was tailess cat with lots of tales. He!He! Now her protogee, an orange marmalade tabby many-toed Hemming-cat runs store. I forget cat's name.
This is best bookstore in Florida. It carries and old books on cat and dog beans and on many other subjects as well. Old books - called used books because some one read them before - are much less expensive than new books. I don't see what diffrence it makes, as the words and pictures are still there even though someone else read them first.
It also carries rare and antiquated books and they are book-finders for Beans that are looking for hard to get books. They import from overseas as well. Bean has come home with many good books from this store.
This week we get Complete Book of the Cat which was published in 1984. It is a little out of date but it has some very good sections on colors and markings of cats, plus grooming and showing of cats. We also get book "Why Paint Cats?" which goes back to my post on Painted Cats.
There is picture in it of Puuuuuurrrrrsian getting painted and it is just sitting there, calmly offering paw for painting. So is real Sarah, not photo-shopped.
It says there is also a massage technique used by Japanese Noh Theater to get cats ready to be painted. Cats that work in theater will not wear masks, so they're costumes must be painted on.
It is interesting book, but I will talke more about painting of cats later.
What Bean said was of interest at the store is the number of books on the training of cats. Cats meanwhile, have never needed books to train humans. We do very good job of training humans without help of books. Which only shows, cats are superior species.
Bean wants go back to bookstore for two more books The Silent Mieow and a book on Kliban Calendar Cats. These are both used books, but she says she will have to wait until after Wednesday, which is payday for her. She still has not purchased me Catser-plus and she did promise.
We also not take pictures yet, and she promise that too. She did set up website for me, but now I need to find time to work on it. Hard to do between sleeping, eating, sleeping, hunting and sleeping.

This is store that also did adoptions of Hemming-cats last summer. It is good that they are so feline minded!

If I live to be 20 and use up all of my nine lives, I will still not understand humans.
Last night, Bean says we are going to take pictures. She promise not to use flash, it hurts my eyes. So okay, we take pictures for website and for Pikapet cat contest. She take picture of Meow on chair. Then she decide light in room is not good enough for pictures.
"We'll have to go in the other room," she says.
So okay, Diamond Cat goes into other room and waits. And waits. And waits. And waits. Where is human? I go back in bedroom. Human is reading book. So much for taking pictures! Maybe she meant we do them in other room another day, but that not what she says.
What can Cat do?
If Bean tries to tell you that she try to take Diamond's picture and Diamond did not co-operate, do not believe her. I tell you truth and now you know better.
I would like to take pictures this afternoon. Make note of this Bean. And do not try to sneak off to this spring training. You go every year and you never learn to jump any higher. You want to learn to jump, Diamond will stick her claws in you, you'll jump really high then.
On a side note, I know that one must try to be tolerant of kittens. They do not know what they do sometimes and sometimes they try to fit in and they don't. It the same with human-kittens. Diamond does not know if she should tolerate them though or correct them when they are wrong. If she does not correct them how will they learn? Same with Cat-Kittens. But then you correct them and they get upset and mad and do not want to play anymore. It is a puzzle.
For example, Kitten put down that Necco is Egyptian Mau. Diamond look in Cat Encyclopia and think Necco is Tabby and White Domestic Shorthair. Diamond is Solid Domestic Shorthair. Nothing wrong with being Domestic Shorthair. Oldest breed of Cat in the whole world.
Egyptian Mau is more oriental looking, like Abyssinian and has either all solid coat or comes in spotted tabby pattern with no white. So does Diamond put this on Necco page and probably hurt feelings of Kitten, or does Diamond let it go? Diamond thinks she might start writing post about breeds for breed forum, which will be instructional and maybe kitten will take the hint.
Then again, Kittens can be unusually block-headed. Then again, if you are not nice to kittens they could blow up city.
Diamond thinks she shall eat some salmon treats while she ponders this situation.

Bean pick me up this morning and says "There's nothing better than an armful of tabby in the morning."
"Then why you pick me up?" I whine.
"Unless it's an armful of black cat."
Oh sure. It beautiful day out, she say. Go catch birds, she say. This after she put human germs all over my nice clean fur.
I would catch Bean, but then who would open cat food can for me? Terrible to have to rely on human for door and can opening. I think Cats were better off before we tame humans.
Anyway, she wants I should remind everyone February 27 is Spay Day USA, and Humane Society of the United States is partnering with local groups to get tens of thousands of Cat and dog beans spayed and neutered.
This year, The HSUS is thrilled to offer fun and easy ways to get involved with Spay Day USA events throughout the country. Last year, 29,000 cats, dogs, and other animals were reported spayed or neutered at these events. To find out how you can get involved click here.
I am spay. So is human. More humans should be spay so there not be so many of them in the world to annoy sleeping Cat in the morning.

There are many myths regarding Black Cats, but most of the ones in America are bad. A Black Cat crosses your path and you will have bad luck. Trust me, if I cross your path you will no worse luck than if a tabby crossed your path and in most cases, you would have better luck because you would get to meet Meow. And there is only one of Meow in the whole world so if you do not meet Meow, then that is your problem and your world will be a much sadder place.
Witches use Black Cats. My bean is not a witch. If she was a witch, she could use magic to wisk me up into the air to catch birds. This does not happen. I must climb trees. Therefore she is no witch.
Black Cats are the devil's creatures. Now that is just plain silly. You see angelic expression on my face and you would know I am no devil. This one come about, I think, from Christians, who think that anyone who not worship their own God must be worshipping devil.
Got news for you. Cats got their own God...Godess really. Oagans-Bast, who we call Bast, was mostly widely known in Egypt in the Twenty-Second Dynasty and was the official deity of Egypt. The Black Cat, not the Siamese, as many think, was the cat sacred to Bast and having a black cat in your home was sure to bring the blessings of the Godess there, granting you riches and prosperity. If nothing else, the cats ate the rodents that were eating your grain, so you probably were a bit more richer and prosperous. Hah!
In England it was believed that if you had black cat in the house, the young ladies of the house would not lack for suitors. Of course if they did, they would not lack for love, because you would have black cat to love you. We love very well.
Black Cat loved Charles I of England and was fiercely loyal and protective of his royal person. When the cat fell ill and died, Charles luck ran out. He was arrested for high treason and ultimately he was put to death.
Black kittens fetched high prices in the Yorkshires, as it was believed a black cat would bring fisherman home safely from the seas. Much catnapping occurred, as cats were stolen to be sold to highest bidder, usually the family of the fisherman. Black Cats also prevented disasters at seas, unless you threw one overboard, then you were just begging for trouble. (This is a good reason to share your life with a black cat if you live in Florida and own a boat!)
In many parts of Europe, a black cat crossing your path meant very good fortune. (Of course, you have the good fortune of making the acquaintance of the Black Cat.) If one walked into your house or home, you were truly blessed. (Of course, black cat ate rats and mice, making it a safe and happy home.)
Not all superstitions regarding cat were lucky...at least not to the cat. In Sumatra, villages that needed rain would throw black cat into the river and make it swim until almost exhausted before allowing it out of water. Then they would chase cat while throwing water on cat and themselves. This was supposed to bring rain. I don't know if it do that, but it certainly waste water, and bring blood when black cat scratch people that are treating it this way.
If you can find a white hair on an all black cat the white hair would bring you luck. This is kind of easy on me, as I have a couple of white spots. In Scottland, a strange black cat on your porch brings prosperity. Especially if cat move in, then you will have the great honor of sharing your living space with a wonderful and talented feline-bean.
If a black cat sneezes near a bride on her wedding day, she will have a happily married life. You might want to keep the cat too, and feed him well. Putting him or her in an empty cradle will grant a couple their wish for children.
Bast was also a Godess of love and fertility and black cats and fertility myths run through several cultures including Scandiavia, where it was a symbol of fertility, and in Hindu, where it was a symbol for childbirth.
Dreaming of different kinds of cat often mean different things, but dreaming of black cats is considered just plain lucky.
There is many more good myths about black cats. In Japan, for example, it is believed a black cat can lead you to treasure.
Black cats became unpopular in the middle ages with the whole witchcraft thing. Thank you Catholic church. Some bird-loving bishop not like cats or something. This ill-feeling toward black cats continues to modern days. While it is unfortunate that black cats are often maligned during the Halloween Season as being spooky, it doesn't bother me. After all, it makes coming up with a Halloween Costume very easy.
(Of course, Human-Beans got the whole idea of Halloween screwed up in the first place, but what can you do? They are just pitiful Humans. Just as they got the whole black cat crossing your path thing mixed up.)
Anyway, my point is, do not believe all the modern day hype about black cats. Black cats are the best cats. You could do much, much worse than having a black cat share your life with you. If you are looking for a cat, consider adopting a black one from your local shelter. You will get a lovely and loving, engaging companion who will bring you rain when you need it, grant you happy marriage, many children, lead you to treasure and keep your boat safe in a storm, for we are the sacred cats of Bast and you just can't go wrong with a Godess behind you!
If they not have any black cats...well, then you can get a tabby. I like tabbies. They are nice cats too.

Let's get one thing straight before we start. I do not like to travel. I do not like cars and even my one trip to see the vet every year is a very tramatic experience for me.
Moving...I know now that was a good thing because we are happier now, but at the time, I wasn't really happy about that either. But I wanted to be with bean, so I tried to tolerate it with a minimum amount of crapping and screaming.
But some pets have to travel places with their beans. There is a discussion on Pikapet about animals on airlines and how they are put in bag compartment to travel, which is not the best place to be. Now I find out that trains are out as an option to airlines.
Animals are not allowed on Amtrak trains unless they are service animals.
At one time, pets traveled by train in sleeping cars, parlor or baggage cars. Owners could visit their pets at station stops with the conductor's permission.
In 1977, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service issued new rules for transporting pets on trains. They included requirements for heating and air conditioning, and possibly providing water.
Amtrak determined that it would need to spend $13.8 million on baggage car and station changes to satisfy the new regulations, so it prohibited pets, according to the National Association of Railroad Passengers.
Pet carriage is a good idea, if it could be done legally, according to NARP. But at least one chance for that has come and gone.
According to NARP:
"In the early 1990s, Amtrak was looking at allowing pet carriage on the Auto Train when it got new bilevel equipment. The idea was to use an area in the lower level of certain coaches that had been designed as a baggage room, but which was accessible from within that coach and could conceivably have access to the water and ventilation system of that coach. That project was not carried through, and in the meantime the baggage room on that particular variety of coach has been converted to a separately ventilated smoking room on almost all Amtrak trains with such bilevel equipment."
There was an airline called Companion Air that ran in 2003 but is not right now active. I find them on the web at http://www.companionair.com/. They seem to think they will start up again if there is interest for this service.
If you are thinking of relocating to another country with your human, there is some information ont his available at http://www.petmovers.com/, which is an Animal Transport Service.
This is really all I have to say on the subject of travel. If I really must go somewhere, I prefer to walk.

I was a bad cat this morning. I did not mean to be. Bean had flowers in a crystal vase and I just wanted to smell the flowers. So I get up on my back feets so I can reach them. But I lose my balance. I put a paw out to steady myself, but I knock the vase over and it rolled and fell off the table and broke into a thousand pieces.
Bean did not yell, but she just said "Oh, kittenish!" in a very disappointed voice. Then she clean up mess.
Now I have to think of something to do to make this up to her.

Humans are sneaky and deceitful. You know, they say that about cats, but that is only because they are recognizing their own traits in feline behavior. Cats are not sneaky or deceitful. We are silent and cunning, but we need to be that way to hunt. How else would we kill things? But otherwise we are very loyal and trustworthy, and we are very caring. All cats will tell you, they always take care of their sick humans. When my human-bean was sick, I take very good care of her, and bring her ratties to eat, and she get better.
Humans, they will tell a canine-bean "Let's go for ride in car," "Let's go for treats." So doggies go and even when they end up at the vet, they are gullible enough to fall for this trick over and over again. Cat you pull it once on them and we go in car ever again. We know better. Car goes to vet. Nope, we will stay home, thank you very much.
I finish this entry on my blog at Xanga because I want to add pictures and I can't do that here. So visit here to read the rest of the entry with the pictures:

I kill ratty. My human writes:
This time, it was in the storage closet. Well, I did say I'd wish she'd stop leaving them where I walk. I have no idea how long it was there, but I'm quite certain I looked in that closet several times before I noticed it.
"How long has that been there?" She was curled up on a blanket on a chair. Except for the fact that her ear swivled, you'd have thought she was asleep. But that was all the response I got.
With it being as cold as it has, it could have been there for several days, but my guess is that it was a relatively fresh kill. I can't believe I'm THAT dense that I could have walked past it for several days, and not noticed it.
Later, she gets up to get something to drink. I snatch the water bowl away, clean it out and refill it.
"So when did you kill that one?" I ask again now that I have her attention.
She eyes me, then she eyes the water dish. "Merp?" she says hopefully.
Obviously, she does not wish to talk about this one.
"What were you doing? Storing it for a rainy day?" I consider the water falling outside. "Well, you certainly picked a good one."
Still, I tell her what a brave and wonderful cat I think she is. Later on, of course. Her ego is overblown as it is.
Needless to say she found better ways to reward herself. Like sleeping in the clean laundry, fresh out of the dryer.
I still think the rats in the area have got to be pretty stupid to come into a house that so must reek of cat.
