Oh, my friends! Have I got a story for you!
So you know how before Thanksgiving, my tail was hurting? Well, mom figured out what probably happened. A few days later, she heard a commotion in the kitchen. She ran out to find me huffing like a bull about to charge and slamming my tail against the kitchen window. Well, she looked out and what did she see? ANOTHER KITTY! Just sitting on the steps at eye level with me.
Well, she left me for a few days and when she got home last night, I ran outside to eat some grass like I always do. She was watching me when all of a sudden I poofed WAY up and side-hopped over to the bushes and then she heard the cat fight. She broke it up, but I was pretty pleased at myself for defending my territory.
Anyway, tonight she was feeling bad for the kitty so she put down some food outside. Not 10 minutes later, it was gone. So she put down some more. When she got back, it was gone again. She is hoping the kitty has a home, but she's beginning to doubt it. It makes her sad because right now it's only 14 degrees out, and it's only going to get much, much, much colder.
She seems to have some grand plans of getting the kitty inside, but don't worry, I won't let that happen! I am brave!!
(P.S. from mom: Even if I do get the kitty inside, I don't know that I would keep it. But the poor thing really shouldn't be outside in such cold weather. :( It makes me so sad.)
It my great wish for this Christmas that every cat has a loving furever home and somewhere warm to sleep with food eat everyday. It saddens me that this wish will never be granted.
The old familiar story..."I'll just feed it...I'll just let it in,I won't keep it...I'll just keep it awhile...BE NICE TO YOUR NEW BROTHER SOBE(& Bent Ear....& Sisters Mouse & Onyx....& all those dratted kittens)"....that's how your home gets invaded....trust me,I'm living it.....
I poofed up & did the sideways Kung-Fu approach to that big orange & white cat when I escaped a while ago,but I didn't get to fight....no fair,I would have whooped him good....
Wow, Monida you got into a fight. Way to go, girl. Defending your Kingdom, yay.
P.S. we hope the kitty gets to come inside
I don't fight witha ou'side kitties--I makes 'em my furriends.
POOR ou'side kitties-is cold & yucky.
Hope outside kitty gets a nice warm furevfur home...at your den or some other kindly pawlace.
Purrs fur a good outcome.
You is fierce, Monida!
Purrs your nice to give the outside kitty food. Maybe they are lost? Have you checked out craigs list for your area and the local vet clinics they sometimes have a list of lost furbabies in the area. Just a thought? Many purrs for doing a lovely thing.
I am so sorry our tail is hurt.
The kitty-Monida it could have been me some years ago. I showed up a frightened, abused cat, hissing, growling and meowing at the same time for help. I will never forget that the resident cat, Ruffy, put his paw up on the glass, right to my paw. I was duly humane trapped and gotten inside.
Humane traps don't hurt. They simply close so the kitty can't get away.
Monida, everyone in my cat family felt the way you did for a bit, but then they began to accept me. Imagine, I'm not clowder leader.
We all start somewhere little pretty calico girl.
purr for this kitty-your territory can be more fun when shared-I promise.
Monida's mom: some vets offices and humane societies will loan you a trap. Sounds like this kitty was probably abandoned and starved. I've always felt there was a neon sign over our door that read 'cats safe here'. You probably have the same one over your house.
Smokieboo and Mom Deb
Monida, you did what most cats do: defend your space. Can't blame you for that! But I do hope your Mom can get the kitty inside and into a safe place. Remember, you can always get to the top of the fridge and be queen of the mountain.
Hey, if ya need helps findin sumbuddy to help the kitty, ya can call the Pet Paw-See. If your mama catnot find the number, ya can p-mail us, and mama can give ya auntie Les' number. The Pet Paw-See has lotsa foster parents and a webbysite for adoptin kits and pups. That is how the Peekster and I got our furrever home with our mama and daddy.
Your mum is kind to look out for that other cat. Our Christmas wish is for all kitties to have furever homes but sadly that seems a long way off. If your mum can get the kitty in maybe she can take kitty to a shelter.
Next door kitties that turn up mostly end up moving in and they all seem to get along Ok but I wouldn't like to share any more. Josie is bad enough!
What's the kitty update? U have to be careful he doesn't have fiv. The stray my mom wanted to adopt had it. That's how mom got me! She didn't want to expose Lindsay to anything so she took me instead. Mom would like to save all the lost kitties of the world too. She can't think about it or it makes her sad.
