Nicknames: Lukey, Lukey Pookey, the Pookster. When we adopted him his name was Lucas, but that sounded a bit formal for this silly guy so we shortened it to Luke.

Likes: looking out windows and watching birdies, stroller rides, sneaking up and pouncing on Tully
Pet-Peeves: dislikes loud, sudden noises - especially the vacuum cleaner

Favorite Food: He loves his kibble, but Mom pushes wet food whenever she can. His favorite wet food is Fancy Feast.
Skills: he is super athletic; can jump extremely high; fetches objects in his mouth

Arrival Story: Luke and Tully are brothers. They were rescued as orphan kittens by the Itty Bitty Orphan Kitty(IBOK) Rescue. I was looking at cats on Petfinder one evening and their profile popped up along with an adorable photo. They had to be adopted as a pair. I had just lost my 9-year-old tuxedo kitty, Carlos, who died very quickly from lymphoma and I was heartbroken. Tully has similar markings to Carlos but has long hair. Luke is a very handsome boy with half a mustache and a goatee. Their loving foster Mom brought them over one evening to meet us since we could not attend the next adoption fair. I decided right then and there that they were the perfect pair. My husband thought we should wait since we just lost our sweet Carlos, but I did not like coming home to a house without a kitty in it. We adopted Luke and Tully soon after. They are sweet and lovable boys.
October 18, 2009 - Luke and Tully have been with us for one year! We love these boys - they are the most awesome cats!

Mom cooked up a storm in the kitchen today. We had an early Thanksgiving dinner for some friends and family since one of my Grandmas will be away on vacation for the next couple of weeks. Tully and I supervised in the kitchen. We’ve never seen so much peeling, chopping, blending, slicing, dicing, and stirring going on, so we had to see what Mom was doing.
You know how Catster has those brussel sprout rosettes you can give as a prezzie? Well, I saw Mom eat them once so I assumed they were for eating. I tried to taste one today on the kitchen counter and it was terrible – bleh! I also licked one of the potatoes Mom had sliced and left on the counter. It was a little better than the brussel sprout, but I still didn’t like it. My furiend, Pigeon, gave me a brussel sprout recently and told me to play with it, so that’s really what its purpose is, I suppose. Don’t know why anyone would intentionally try and EAT a brussel sprout.
I was inspired to try new foods by my furiend, Edgar, when he sniffed and licked a fig bar a couple of days ago. He didn’t like it either, but at least he gave it a try. I thought he was very brave to try a new food. I did enjoy a few bites of turkey. I don’t go crazy over it like Tully does, but I must admit it was pretty tasty.
My beautiful furiend SUNSHINE tagged me to play Thanksgiving Tag. Here are the instructions:
“Here's a little tag game for Thanksgiving. Copy this into your diary, and then "tag" five other furs to respond. Let them know in a pawmail. In your diary begin by thanking the fur who tagged you."
List the five things that you're most thankful for this year:
1. I am thankful to have a forever home. I was rescued from the Animal Shelter when I was only 4 weeks old and raised by a very loving foster Mommy before my forever Mom adopted me last year.
2. I am thankful for my Mom and Dad who love me unconditionally. I am a very spoiled kitty and I love it!
3. I am thankful for my comfortable and safe house and a warm bed to sleep in every night.
4. I am thankful for my brother, Tully. He is my littermate and my soul mate. Our rescue group did not want to split us up – thank goodness Mommy adopted us together!
5. I am very thankful for my furiends. Tully and I have the best furiends around and we have so much fun here on Catster.
I don’t want to put any furs on the spot, so if you are reading this diary entry and you’d like to play – please consider yourself tagged!
Mom took us to see the vet today for our annual checkup. It’s also Veterans Day, which is why she has the day off.
First we got weighed and had our temperatures taken. I now weigh 13.5 pounds – a year ago I was only 9 pounds when Mom adopted me. Mom is trying to get me to cut back on the kibble and eat more wet food. She thinks that’s why I’m a bit hefty. But hey, I really like the crunchy stuff. Actually, I am very muscular – and we all know muscle weighs more than fat – MOL!
Tully is a svelte 12 pounds. Our nice lady vet, Dr. Rachel was very impressed by his silky, shiny coat. Tully eats almost all wet food, not to mention Mom’s turkey sandwiches, so Mom thinks that’s why he’s got the shinier coat.
Dr. Rachel gave both of us a clean bill of health. We both have “mild” gingivitis, but no tartar buildup so Mom’s going to step-up the tooth brushing. She really doesn’t want us to have to go in for dentals in the future, so she’s going to try and get us on a regular dental hygiene program at home (good luck, Mom!). We got our FVRCP vaccination which we won’t need again for another 3 years – yay!
Happy Veterans Day to all our wonderful vets and active duty servicemen and women – we appreciate your courage and sacrifice for our country.
