Arrival Story:
I found Hobbit hobbling down the road on the way to work one morning. I thought she had been hit by a car so I turned around and called her. She seemed shy but came. She couldn't walk straight and sorta gimped sideways when she did walk. She had a bobcat tail (large and stumpy). The vet said her injuries were old, her back legs were weak from non-use, she was allergic to fleas (which she definiately had), was underweight (only 6 lbs) and had some internal indications of breakdown. Took her home and introduced her slowly to the rest of the gang. She became my special child. I carried her with me all the time and would bring her sprigs of grass from up the hill behind the house since I have none close to the house (I live on the side of a mountain).

She became the apple of my eye. Always having to keep up with her, she could disappear faster than my healthy cats. The others seemed to "know" something wasn't quite right with her and when she would push them straight out of their food bowl (she had a one track mind and really never comprehended the "others" rights), they would just back away or move away. She was sweet, loving, comical and I do believe grateful for our time together. Gained several pounds, basked in the sun and would take her "walks" down the deck stairs (which I added several blocks etc, so she could get up and down easier) would go around the medicine wheel herb bed, past the greenhouse, around the front herb beds, back up onto the deck from the opposite side and would plop into a sunbeam." In November of 2004 I had to make the hardest decision I've ever had to do and put Hobbit to rest. It was her time and there was no other choice. She shared her energy with me for a little over a year for which I am grateful. She is laid to rest underneath the bird feeders, at the top of the hill where she enjoyed sitting and watching. May her angel wings help her spirit run free on the other side.
