My brother-in-law went to the store one day to pick up milk or something, and instead brought home Pebbles! When my sister and her family moved out into an apartment, they couldn't afford the deposit right away, so Pebbles' stay was supposed to be short-term. She has been with us for 6 years and we're quite happy to have her as an addition to the family.
