Being brushed, playing with feather toys and sparklers, jumping up to high places, her CatSitter dvd, tuna (a rare treat), running water, making figure eights around two leggers' feet, soft blankets to snuggle into, taking walks in her petpack.
Taking a bath (handheld shower, actually, though she is very good about it), getting her nightly teethbrushing (once again, a very tolerant girl with good dental hygiene), scary loud children.
Her fleece snake, which she carries around the house in her mouth.
Favorite Nap Spot:
It changes all the time, but the latest is on a closet shelf on a pile of t shirts. Like many cats, she loves a good nook or snuggly space up high to cuddle in.
Tuna, but she is not a big eater at all. I wish she took more interest in food, actually. She does enjoy dried chicken breast strips and her malt toothpaste, actually. Lately she's decided her favorites are wheat bran, black licorice, and lychees.
She retrieves balls when she is in the mood and carries her toys around the house with her. She is quite talented at soccer and sparkler killing. Her best skill is loving us with all her being.
I have always been a "cat person" but my husband has not. He grew up with dogs and thought cats hated him, and he hated most of them right back. After researching breeds, I figured the gentle, "doglike" nature of a Birman would melt his resistance. We saw Darjeeling Please at two weeks, seven weeks, and when we went to pick her up from the breeder at 13 weeks. It was love at first sight and now my husband is a cat adorer (lover is too weak a word) and advocate--never thought it would happen but she just melted his heart. She just wants to be wherever we are--he'll be working at his computer and realize she's been sleeping in his inbox for hours while he talked on the phone, banged on the computer---she doesn't care, just wants to be near her people. And she and I talk a lot--the more I talk to her, the more she responds to me. She is very vocal with me, and not so much with him. Books I've read have said that happens--talk to your animals and they will definitely respond.
Darjeeling Please was born on my husband's birthday, and that was one more clue that she was meant to be with us. He says October 18 is now her birthday first, and always will be. Although she is not generally a lap cat and sleeps around (not in our bed, but under it, on the bath mat where she can see us, or even downstairs on the sofa), she is always in sight and even stays nearby during the loud action movies he likes, which is more than I can say for myself! She is a licker, not a head-butter. Darjeeling Please loves to come up and lick our hands, and our legs, especially after a shower when there's lots of water and new scent information to be gained. She also goes crazy for the taste and smell of chlorine from the pool at our gym, even though she doesn't respond to catnip. Chlorine skin and olives get her jiggy!
