indoors Arrival Story: We got a call at the shelter from a man who took this beautiful girl in after she had been showing up outside their house since about Christmas. His family took her in late February, obviously pregnant. She gave birth to 4 babies on February 29th, only one surviving. They already had a cat who was upset with the interlopers. The kids would have rather kept this momma as she is very sweet and affectionate. Bio: We picked her up, processed her and took her in as a foster right away. The baby is as sweet as can be, completely hand raised.
Phailin is Thai for "sapphire", an homage to her eye color. Well, I got hurt in Monday, and they splinted me. By Wednesday, my right paw looked like something from a horror film.
I wasn't acting like myself either. So, off to the doctors I went! The doc cut away the bottom portion of the cast and splints, thinking that it would aleviate the swelling. Mommy took me back 3 hours later since it was still so bad. The doc removed the cast altogether and said that once I started licking it and moving it the swelling should be reduced. He was right!
BUT, since I was there and was due for my last distemper etc shot, he did that before I left. I wasn't too happy and quite frankly, acted poorly for the next 2 days. I laid around, I didn't eat too much and I avoided Mommy.
Now, I am back to my old self! The dr said there were no restrictions on me since I would be the best judge of what I could or could not handle.
I am loving up Mommy even more than before the accident and the baby is litterbox trained and eating on her own.
I am much more vocal and flop over at the drop of a hat, wanting my belly rubbed!! :)
Well, I was injured in a freak accident on March 31st. My human sister opened her door and I was alongside it. I got my paw and lower leg caught under the door and I pulled, causing a small chip of bone at the 'wrist' to break off. Worst than that is the fact that I my pads and foot suffered damage.
The docs splinted me but my paw remained swollen so they removed the cast/splint and I am on my own with my paw. The doctor says that I will be the best judge of what my paw will tolerate and so far, he's right. I have no restrictions per sey, am not on cage rest and cannot take any type of medication because I am still nursing Leia.
So, I will have to 'tough it out' for a bit, but I am sure I will get spoiled even more now!
Purrs and paws crossed that I don't have any longterm issues with this.
