Likes:
Terrorizing strangers, vets and his brother - Henry. Burying his head in blankets and clothing (like an Ostrich).

Pet-Peeves:
Noise, having his tail tweaked...He REALLY hates the vet (and vice-versa, I get the feeling...)

Favorite Toy:
Wrapping paper, moths, string, the "sock" toy (this big, cloth tube thing that's filled with cat nip).

Favorite Nap Spot:
Anywhere he can find a warm sun patch. In front of the wood-buring stove - in his basket - during the winter months.

Favorite Food:
Friskies canned food (sliced variety) and soft Pounce. Potato chips, Swiss cheese and ham.

Skills:
Has mastered the art of vomiting in hard to reach areas. His knack for mysterious illnesses has lined the pockets of vets across three state lines.

Dwells:
indoors

Arrival Story:
My ex-boyfriend adopted the cat from a man he worked with. He was the last left of a litter and was heading for the pound if no one took him in. I was not thrilled about it at first...as I never had a cat before - only dogs. And, we were in college and weren't really around a lot to care for an animal (hence, the cat's name - Kitty. Use the expression, "Here Kitty, Kitty, Kitty" a few too many times to summons a cat with no name and guess what happens??? You then have a cat named Kitty). When my ex and I broke up, he took the cat with him...and I went to the pound and adopted Henry because I missed having a cat so much. Apparently, Kitty missed me, too, as my ex brought him back not soon after. Kitty had always been a little high strung. I was worried about how he would get along with Henry. To my surprise, Henry's easy-going personality seemed to calm Kitty down a bit...and they've gotten along well since day one. This, a BIG step for a "fractious" cat who only accepts the bare minimum into his inner circle (me, my husband, and Henry). Everyone else better wear body armor...

Bio:
Was adopted at work in Scottsdale, Arizona and moved Upstate New York when he was four. I often wonder what the airplane trip must have been like for him...just how many baggage handlers were scared and terrorized along the way. It's funny - to me and my husband, he is the sweetest, friendliest, most affectionate cat in the world. He just isn't very cordial to strangers....

July 13, 2009 - Today I had to put my Kitty to sleep because of illness. To most, he was a grouch - not the type of cat you'd volunteer to take home. He had a lifetime of health problems...was difficult, grumpy, testy, downright sarcastic, stubborn, finicky and precocious....but he was my best friend. Even though his heart was surrounded by barbed wire, he was the most compassionate, loyal and loving soul I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. Maybe someday we'll meet again. Until then, be good, Kitty, and don't stir up too much trouble...
