A week back Toby stopped eating. When it got to the point that he wasn't even trying we took him to the vet. They did blood samples which came up clean and then took a biopsy of a few bumps that had seemed to come up out of nowhere from the last time I had really given his belly a petting.
The vet just called with the results. The biopsy revealed Toby has carcinoma.
I could afford most of his treatment for it except the very important and very expensive chemo which costs thousands of dollars.
Without the chemo the ultrasound and exploratory surgery/removal of tumors was only going to possibly give him more time, it is less likely in his case.
Even with all the options including the thousands of dollars in chemo, because of they way it has grown and the type it's very unlikely it would be enough to save him.
He's only 11 years old and the most special cat that I've every had the pleasure to meet. He'd make instant friends with humans even though his numbers in his club on sheezyart.com and facebook fanpage don't show it, he is in fact loved by all who have met him.
He was my first cat, he was my room mate in college and on my worst days, my reason to get my ass out of bed. He is like the child I never had or will have and I'm going to lose him.
He's pretty happy right now, mostly back to normal and loving all the attention he's been getting. He's gonna get more than he'll know what to do with.

My brothers and I did not have the privilege of knowing you, Toby, but it seems that you sure were a good, loving and courageous guy who was so lucky to have had so much love in your life. We are purring your journey to the Bridge was swift and painless and that your family will find peace with their decision. Our pawrents have had to make the same decision more than once and know how hard it is. But, your family has their memories of you and will always remember you with love.
