Arrival Story:
Being animal lovers, Pete & Courtney finally decided to add a furry friend to their home. After a bit of research, they found a listing on Petfinder through the Trumbull Animal Group. Courtney is especially fond of orange cats, so she had her heart set on an orange kitten. The litter advertised had two orange males. Pete and Courtney set up a time to go visit the kittens in their foster home. Along with the 2 orange boys, there were 4 others - one of which was a black & white "tuxedo" girl. Pete fell in love with her immediately. A few weeks later, Courtney went to pick up "the kids" to bring them to their new home. There were still two orange boys to choose from, and Murphy's brother was stuffed inside a comfortable cardboard box. Murphy wasn't too sure of his mom-to-be at first, but when Courtney finally made her decision and brought the two of them home, Murphy bonded within an hour. He's been a little cuddle bug ever since!

Bio:
Murphy and Ginger both had a host of common kitten medical problems when they came home (upper respiratory infection, ringworm, Coccidia), and at one point Murphy became severely dehydrated and developed a fever. Courtney was unsure of her new mommy instincts, so instead of rushing him to the Emergency Vet, she stayed up with him all night giving him water in a medicine dropper - not a mistake she will make again! The next day, she took him into the vet right away, where he was put on IV fluids and kept in in-patient care for the day. True to his bouncy nature, he did indeed "bounce" right back and has been feeling much better ever since - and mom has learned to better trust her instincts!

Update!

Well, the surgery went well. Ginger & I were back to our usual selves right away. Dad did a great job of taking care of us on Friday - making sure I wasn't pestering Ginger, giving us plenty of love and time to adjust to being back home. I'm a little less territorial already - which makes Mom (and Ginger) happy - but even more affectionate than before. Dad says I'm more like a dog than a cat! My recent obsessions seem to be mom's strappy tank tops and climbing all over "Dad Mountain" whenever possible. Anyway, this is the life!

Bye Bye Balls!

My sister and I are currently at the vet undergoing our respective sterilization surgeries. When mom dropped us off this morning, the vet's reception staff was very disorganized; they actually LOST our immunization record (that Mom had given them just two weeks before!). Mom tries to be understanding; people that work in vet's offices can't be bad at all, as most animal lovers aren't. But it made her a bit wary about the whole thing.

Anyway, I can't see her, but I just know Mom is a wreck! She worries too much, but it's only because she loves us so much and can't imagine life without us. She told us we're going for a sleepover at the nice vet lady's place, and that she'll miss us A LOT.

She and Dad are ready to take extra good care of us when we get home so we can be back up and at 'em very soon. I think Ginger may need more time to recover than I will; I just hope I can contain myself enough to leave her alone. I sure love playing with my sister!

Wish me luck on my surgery!
Murphy
