Arrival Story:
We adopted Turtle in April 2007 from an ASPCA shelter. He was given to the ASPCA by a family who had adopted him from friends who were moving, but they turned out to be allergic to Shnubby. Two of my friends and I found Shnubby at the shelter, and we found him to be quite charming. The next day, my boyfriend and I returned to collect him and bring him home. He was very unhappy in the car carrier, but he is much happier now at home with us. When he was moving in, he shocked our apartment complex by being 18 lbs. In the apartment complex office, there was a new resident moving in with only a 6 lb. dog. Needless to say, Turtle is clearly Heavy Weight Champion of our building.

Bio:
Settling in to the new apartment has been a bit taxing for Turtle, but he no longer runs and hides when people descend the stairs outside our apartment. He has adopted a chair, a place on our futon, and of course, commandeers our laps whenever he wishes. One is wise not to deny the Lord and Master of Arctic Pumas.

A sidenote on His Royal Handsomeness: You may notice in his pictures that Turtle's ears are a bit ruffled along the edges. We have gotten two different explanations for this: 1) He was in a number of fights in his earlier life, and so his ears healed funkily. 2) He once had ear mites, and his ears healed funkily. Happily, he no longer has ear mites, if he ever did, and he does not fight with anyone save the imaginary things he occasionally sees on our carpet. What we pretend: that he really has some Scottish Fold blood in him (his long, bony tail makes this clearly an incorrect assumption).
