Arrival Story:
Miz Kitti found us and claimed us before we claimed her. She worked her "magic," and we loved her (on her conditions) as she was originally a feral kitty. She came to us and soon delivered a HUGE litter of kittens that she did not know how to take care of, so we did the best we could. None survived, unfortunately. So, it was then time to have Miz Kitti spayed. Our vet, whom we dearly love, came out to the house, trapped her in a have-a-heart trap, tranquilized her and took her in for her surgery. My husband built a HUGE outside cage that we put in the shade (as it was June) and we put a kitty litter potty, some water and bedding in there for her when she got back home. When surgery was completed and before she woke up, we brought her home and placed her in the cage. And I sat, outside in blazing sun, until she woke up and knew where she was. She was quiet from the moment she woke up and seemed calm. Being feral, we just never knew what was going on in her sweet little mind. She continued to thrive with our close attention to food, water and keeping the cage clean. Never tried to hurt us or run off. After the stitches dissolved from the surgery, we had a "little talk!" I told her that she was welcome to come into the house, stay outside in the yard, with food provided for her anytime she wanted, or to go back to her "wandering ways!" Put a flea collar on her, had her shots administered and she was set! She ran off the minute I stepped aside and my heart fell to my feet. But! Next morning, she was back at the door waiting to be fed and she was with us for a VERY long time and had a GOOD life for an original feral kitty, who became "family" in our household! Never did she leave after we showered her with love and affection, until she left us to go to Rainbow Bridge in 2005.
