Likes:
Treats--especially the ones she gets her pills in

Pet-Peeves:
Closed doors, other cats, anything left on the table where her treats are; oh, and rainy days (especially with thunderstorms) (which reminds me, she also hates fireworks)

Favorite Toy:
Catnip pillow, fur-and-feather thing, laser pointer--and, most of all, those little play mice that look like real ones

Favorite Nap Spot:
On top of all of the pillows on the couch, or on my lap when she can get it

Favorite Food:
Chicken, tuna water

Skills:
She does a great soccer-goalie-type block shot--she'll jump 4 feet in the air to block a crumpled paper ball! She also gives me kisses whenever I come home--I pick her up, and she purrs (VERY loudly) and gives me 4 or 5 "pecks" on the mouth. So sweet!

Dwells:
indoors

Arrival Story:
She belonged to a friend of a friend who was moving in with his girlfriend and her 4-year-old boy. The boy would terrorize the cat, so her former owner decided to give her away. She was about 2 1/2, almost 3 years old, and as we rode home in the back of my friend's car, she "sang" all the way home. So I decided I had to name her after an opera singer, and I started listing some: Maria, Joan, Beverly, Kiri, Leontyne, Marian...and wait, "Leontyne" was a good name for a cat, so...

Bio:
She is very small--and she has a sweet little face, so she is often mistaken for a very young cat, though she's now 12 years old. I think she must have been the runt of the litter, as she is also FREAKED OUT by other cats, to an unnatural degree. For example, I took in a neighborhood store cat for the night when he got locked out of the store--he spent the night in the bathroom, a total of 8 or 9 hours. Leontyne was spooked out literally for weeks--wouldn't go near the bathroom for several days, then spent another week hissing in every corner of it, like she was performing an exorcism...BUT--she's a very good mouser! When we first moved to our current apartment, I discovered just how good--three in one night!

Friendliness:
She's very cautious with "outsiders"--especially if you pay any attention to her whatsoever--but unbelievably sweet if you let her be and let her get to know you at her own pace
