I escaped and spent the afternoon and evening in the wild!

Yesterday I seized an opportunity and had a real adventure. There is a new person who's been coming to our house lately to take care of the baby who is seems to have moved into our house. While she was leaving yesterday afternoon and was distracted by all that she was carrying, I slipped out the front door. Usually my adventure lasts about 2 minutes before someone scoops me up and makes me go back into the house. But not this time! No one followed me!

I spent the next 8 hours or so wandering through the wild, narrowly avoiding more than one duel with the fluffy brown and black cat that thinks she owns the block. She was staked out in her usual spot, and I spent a lot of time in the bushes nearby scoping her out. As evening came I heard some people yelling and whistling for me, but I ignored them. A few hours after that, I heard more calls and whistles for me, and this time I decided that I was hungry and thirsty and cold and maybe I would allow myself to be discovered. I wandered out from under the brush and there was one of my earth siblings and he seemed very happy to see me.

It was hard to get used to the indoors again, and everyone kept telling me that I must not have had that good a time outside and that inside was much better. I slept like a queen wrapped in my down blankets and everyone was really nice to me.

My new house mouse

Santa Paws brought me one very special gift this year and I can't get enough of it. It's a catnip filled furry house mouse, and I go crazy for it. I carry it around the house in my mouth like a dog with a tennis ball. Or I just sit and gaze out the window with my mouse right beside me. Often I fling it all over the room or chase it down the stairs. Then I turn on a dime and walk away from it so it doesn't know just how smitten I am. I've learned how to play hard to get and believe me it works.

I think this is better than the real thing.

A new way to sleep

Lately I've discovered that my humans are onto something with these pillow things they use on the bed. I've taken to sleeping with my head on a pillow and boy do I like it! I used to be at the bottom of the bed all curled up trying to stay warm with no covers but not anymore! Now I snuggle right in under the covers, head on the pillow, and snore away in peace and comfort. I'll try to be so cute that my humans take a photo and post it here for you to see...
