Arrival Story:
Baby was the first of my pets that I adopted from a pound. When I went to the pound, she was in a cage that had dogs on all sides (left, right, top, and bottom). She was TERRIFIED!!! Every time I walked by, she mewed at me. It made me feel like she was just begging me to rescue her (no, she really just talks - a LOT - ALL THE TIME). So, I brought her home, and it took 3 days to get her to move out from under my bed (never ate, drank, peed, or pooped for almost 70 hours). Finally, a plate of tuna fish, left while I was not in the room, coaxes her out, and I found her sleeping on top of my bed when I came back into the room. She's been with me ever since.

Bio:
About 2.5 years ago, I had a job that required me to do a lot of travel (1-3 nights a week most weeks). So, I thought that Baby would like me to get her a new playmate to keep her busy while I was gone. Um, yeah - bad call. Xander entered Baby's life, and she's been complaining ever since. :) She tolerated him when he was a kitten. Now, she makes it clear that this is her space, and he is not to intrude on her space. Unfortunately, Xander has managed to claim the right to sleep in the bed with us at night, and she's given up and moved to the spare bedroom. So, after 8 years of snuggling with her every night, I now am luckily if I get her to nap with me once a month. As Baby has grown older, she's become, um, "set in her ways". However, she's still very spry for her age. Last year, when we moved from NC to IN, she sat in laps and wandered around the car the entire way (and moaned the entire way too). When we took her to the vet out here, he was amazed as she hopped up and down from the floor to the examining table and back, and at how well all of her blood test results came back. More recently, when we added the two yellow lab pups to the family, she quickly let it be known that she was putting her foot down. No harassment like she endured from Xander as a kitten! So, now the 35 and 45 pound puppies walk well out of their way to avoid intruding on "her" space -- she's definitely the animal in charge! Today, July 2, 2007, my sweet Bambina left us. She must have wanted to wait until our new baby, her little human brother made it here to be with us when she was gone. But since we brought him home from the hospital, she has gone rapidly downhill. Today, it was time to let her go. We held her while the vet gave her a shot, and now she's resting peacefully under the trees. We'll miss our little girl.

The princess speaks

Hey everyone. Mommy sent me a letter today! Here's what it said:

To my little princess,

I hope you are having a good time at the bridge. That you are back to being the spry little kitty you were when I first met you, oh so many years ago. I know that I've been very busy with your skin-brother since you have been gone, but don't think that I've forgotten about you. You are still my princess. The kitty I can turn to when all around me goes haywire. I know that you have been near these last few weeks, and for that I say thank you.

Can you believe that in a few months you would have been 18? wow - now don't go out and try to party too much when your birthday rolls around. I'll check in with your brothers, and you know they'll tattle on you my dear. Take good care of Xander. I let him come to you much too soon, and he needs you right now.

Love,

Mommy

It was so nice to get mail from meowmy! I hadn't even known the humans could send us stuff up here, but some of my furriends explained that it's a once a year special event. Well, I'm off to chaperone the brothers, I just wanted to share with everyone.

Thank you so much to Brandy's mom for my beautiful wings. Someone else had sent mommy wings back when I first passed away, and they were lovely too, but mommy just couldn't deal with it then. But now, she's been chatting with me up here at the bridge again, and she let me get some pretty wings so I can fly about with my friends.

Off to the bridge

Hi everyone,

Mommy hasn't been on the computer much lately since she and my new human brother came home from the hospital. But, she wanted to let you know that I have moved along to the rainbow bridge. I was just waiting for her to get a new Baby to take care of her, and now that she has one, I felt it was time for me to move along. I lived a wonderful 17 years, 12 of them with my mommy. She adopted me just hours before I was to be put to sleep, and gave me all of her love for the next 12 years. It was 12 years ago last week, in fact, that I moved in with her. But lately, I've been so tired. And now that I know there is a new little one around, I know that she'll eventually be ok. I'll keep an eye on her from the bridge, but I know that my little human brother will be what she needs to get past this.

Daddy and Grandpa buried me under the trees by the house, and made a little protected area above my grave. Mommy hasn't been able to go out there yet, but she will soon. And I'll be here by her forever more.

Bye to all my friends, and I'll chat with you from the rainbow bridge once mommy is dealing with a newborn a little bit better.
