Meow,

I wanted to thanks everycat who left me messages and rosettes for my birthday yesterday. I had a pretty good day yesterday between playing with my toys and catnaps. However I was a little disappointed with mom yesterday bringing home a tomato and cheese sandwich and an apple instead of something with turkey or chicken in it. Oh well, maybe another day she will bring me home something I will like.

On Sunday I had a taste of my birthday cake. It was a cute aquarium cake that meowmy made me. The cake was vanilla and delicious.

Meow,

Today I turn 9 years old! I don't really plan on anything too special today. I celebrated my birthday a little early last weekend with meowmy, grandmaw and grandpaw as meowmy has to work today. I wonder if she will bring me anything yummy like a chicken or turkey sandwich home from work tonight? That would be pawsome!

I hope everycat is having a good day today! I'm going to enjoy my cat food and take a couple of long cat naps. I need my beauty rest you know.

First Stroll of 2012!

Meow,

This morning meowmy took me on a very long stroll - 3 miles to be exact. We walked/sprinted/strolled to Idle Isle Park which is just along Little Muskego Lake near us. Meowmy had her Ipod on and I looked around and listened to the birdies and watched for squirrels. While we were at the park we noticed a sign that said No Dogs Allowed. Well it didn't say No Cats In Strollers Allowed so I guess I'm welcome there. I just wish meowmy would have let me out so I could check out to see if there were any fish in the lake. Too bad meowmy doesn't like fish, maybe she could have caught me one. While we were there, meowmy wanted to take a picture of us but the batteries in her camera were dead. So we strolled/sprinted/walked back to our house. Meowmy refilled the batteries in her camera and strolled me back out to the car. I thought "Oh no, not the dreaded car ride"! It turned out meowmy just wanted to drive back to the park to get a picture of us near the lake. Silly meowmy isn't she?

I sure hope everycat is enjoying the beautiful weather if it is nice out wherever you live! I sure am. Mom has the windows open and I'm thoroughly enjoying listening to the birdies.

Tiki and Other Miscellaneous Topics!

Meow,

Today meowmy made a trip to my vet's office this afternoon to pick up some treats and food for me and to drop off some litterbox liners and anti-scratch things for furniture that I don't use. I figured since I don't use them, then maybe they could use them for the clinic kitties or one of the employees could use them for their own cats. Meowmy picked me up a couple cans of Tiki - Salmon and Chicken flavor and Chicken and Egg flavor, some Merricks moist food - Surf and Turf, Cowboy Cookout, Grammy's Pot Pie, and Turducken. She also bought me a new Yeooww! Catnip Heart as the one I currently had had a big hole in it. While at the vet's office meowmy saw a couple of the orange tabby clinic cats sleeping in their beds and their Savannah cat, Leo who was roaming around and very curious as to what customers were buying. Leo has beautiful markings according to meowmy and is somewhere around 20 lbs. and is friendly.

Speaking of my vet's office. They have a pawsome new website - www.animaldoctormuskego.com. They have some very helpful how to videos on how to administer medication to your pet and how to bath a cat. These videos are all staring my vet Dr. Jodie and the clinic animals. The video on how to bath a cat I found rather interesting, especially since I am one of those cats who hates baths. Basically, you are supposed to get a big pan out and fill it with water, but it is impawtant that us cats do not see the running water. Then you are supposed to swaddle us in a towel, kinda like a baby and then set us in the pan of water and take a little bowl and scoop up some water and slowly poor it over us. The cat in the video was surprisingly calm. Also, they have this pawsome new forum feature where you can interact with the vet and other pet parents. I also enjoyed reading the clinic cat and dog's stories and getting to know more about them.

Anymeow, it's been a snowy day here. I enjoyed lounging in my favorite recliner in the living room this morning.

I hope everycat has a good weekend!

Great Lakes Pet Expo

Meow,

Today meowmy went to the Great Lakes Pet Expo. Unfortunately, pets couldn't come unless they were with a certain vendor. Well, that was o.k. because meowmy brought me home plenty of treats and goodies and from what she told me she had a pawsome time.

She brought me home some yummy cat treats from a local pet food bakery and a few other cat treats. She also bought me a nice, soft pink mat with peace signs on it and my favorite present - a big, homemade catnip kick toy that has pirates all over it. She also bought me a little stuffed caterpillar that she won and Newman if you are reading, you'll love this, she won it by paying a dollar to scoop a plastic poopie out of a litter box. What meowmies won't do for us cats! She also had a very cute drawing made of me by this artist that was at my vet clinic's booth. Meowmy has it hanging on her bedroom wall.

While she was at the show, she got to look at and pet several little kittens. She got hand kisses from a pitbull doggie that was really sweet. Meowmy told me that there was supposed to be a pitbull there that was rescued from the whole Michael Vick situation. She doesn't think she actually saw it though. She also got to hold a pretty orange rat snake. She also saw some king snakes and some corn snakes. There was also a really huge, yellow python there that she got to touch. She also got to touch a cute little leopard gecko. Also, meowmy saw some really cute baby ragdoll kitties there and thought of my friends Mittens, Tiskers, and Porkchop. She wishes she could have brought some of the animals home, but one she doesn't have the money to take care of all of them and two, I would not be a happy camper. You see, I am the princess after all. I really would not like having to compete with another animal for meowmy's attention.

Anymeow, today has turned out to be a really pawsome Saturday. As I said in a previous diary entry, I'm just going to take it easy tomorrow on Superbowl Sunday and make it my catnap day.

Getting Ready for Superbowl Sunday!

Meow,

Well as you might know I tend to root for the Green Bay Packers when it comes to football so naturally, I'm a little bummed they didn't make it to the Superbowl this year, so I've designated Super Bowl Sunday as Super Catnap Day! You see meowmy is going over by Grandmaw and Grandpaw's house that day and will probably watch a little of it, but certainly won't be glued to the television. They are also ordering pizza, which in my younger days would have been delicious, but I don't eat people food so much anymore.

Anymeow, hope everycat enjoys their weekend and Happy Ground Hog Day today!

Newmies and Zoomies!

Meow,

For those cats who haven't read Poopology by Newman Strickland, I'd highly recommend you check it out, otherwise the rest of you will certainly know what this entry is about. The book has several contributions from various Catster cats, including myself. It is a very entertaining read.

You see, the past couple of mornings, meowmy has cleaned my litter and has noticed that I've been leaving some incredibly huge Newmies (poopies). She has also noticed that I've been doing the zoomies (where you run back and forth from room to room after you've deposited a newmie).

Otherwise, not too much is new with me. I'm just enjoying hanging with meowmy and taking my catnaps.

Meow,

Thanks to everycat who sent congratulatory messages, p-mails, and rosettes for my Daily Diary Pick yesterday. Also, my meowmy would like to thank you all for your concern and well wishes. Even though what she has can be a real nuisance at times, she is happy to know that it is nothing real serious.

Hope everycat has a nice weekend!

Meowmy's Endoscopy

Meow,

As I was meowing to you all yesterday, my meowmy has been having some tummy/acid reflux issues lately. Her human tummy vet wanted her to go through an endoscopy of her esophagus and tummy to see just what is really causing her problems.

Well, the procedure went just fine. Furrst, they started an IV, probably the worst part about it in meowmy's opinion as she hates needles. Then they took her into the procedure room and had her gargle with this really nasty tasting stuff and then she had to swallow it. This was supposed to numb up meowmy's throat and prevent her from gagging. Then they put a sedative and a narcotic medication into meowmy's IV. She said the room started spinning a little and all of a sudden she was asleep. Before she knew it, she woke up and the procedure was over. She said it wasn't bad at all and her throat was not sore and she didn't have any nausea. She just felt very buzzed from the drugs they gave her.

Anymeow, everycat is probably wondering about the results. Well, the nurse explained that meowmy does indeed have GERD (Gastroesophogeal Reflux Disease), a Hiatal Hernia, and they found a benign polyp in her stomach. Basically, they just told meowmy to keep taking her 2 Protonix a day and especially with the Hernia, it is important that she not lie down after eating. So, I'm very happy to report that there is nothing radically wrong with my meowmy. I will be very happy to see her when she comes back home tomorrow.

You Are Getting Sleepy, Very Sleepy!

Meow,

That's what my meowmy will be around 9 am tomorrow morning. You see, she is going in for an upper GI endoscopy and the human vet has to put meowmy to sleep for the procedure. My meowmy has had GERD (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease) for a couple years now and all of a sudden she has been having more problems with heartburn and chronic sinus infections (meowmy's allergist thinks these are related to her GERD). Anymeow, the human vet just wants to take a look in there to rule out a couple of other problems. Meowmy doesn't think they will find anything too serious wrong with her. Let's just purr that everything goes o.k with the procedure and that meowmy doesn't have any problems with the sedative they give her. I think meowmy is more nervous about the sedative than she is about the procedure. I do wonder if meowmy will get souvenir pictures? Anymeow, this also means I will be home alone for the day too as meowmy cannot drive the rest of the day after she has her endoscopy due to the sedative. She will be staying at Grandmaw and Grandpaw's house.

I'm sure glad I'm not the one having to go to the V-E-T tomorrow.
