First of all, as of this moment it is raining lightly with no wind. There's a cardinal sitting in the redbud tree chirping away. I think he likes the rain.

Irene is supposed to hit us around 6:00 p.m. It's expected to be a tropical storm with winds 20-40 mph and gusts up to 50 mph. The weatherguy said a tropical storm is 73 mph and less. A hurricane is 75+. Ocean City, which is 150 miles from us, is expected to get hurricane force winds at 100 mph later on today. Right now, Nags Head, NC is getting it pretty bad, and it's heading toward Virginia Beach.

We are purring and praying for everyone and everycat in the path of this nasty sotrm. We're purring and praying for ourselves too. Hopefully, no trees fall down around here. Of course, power loss is expected. So far, we're good.

Also, before the rain came, Mommy made a couple stops to the vet and Petsmart. She told me the sky looked just like the pile of floof she combed out of me last week; lots of gray clouds clustered close together. These clouds were low-lying moving rather fast.

Of course, she's home now and we're all stocked with food, flashlights, cooler, litter, etc. We're going to ride out the storm. Mommy has done this before with her Mom, Sampy, Cammie and our angels Bentley and Jasmine Bibette during hurricane Isobel in 2003 (of course I wasn't born then). They dealt with no power for five days. Of course, they were able to cook on stove top. Mommy can with this new stove but she's afraid to light a match to the burners. She's got canned tuna and lots of fruit cups and granola bars. She's got cold cuts which she'll be put in the cooler if the power goes out.

Meanwhile, we're safe and sound right now. All stores in our area are having business as usual. I think a lot of them will close at 5:00 p.m. though.
