Arrival Story:
Mrrower!! When I was a kitten some humans took me to Charleston, WV and put me in a cage in a pet shop there. Then one day my human named Robin came by and bought me (seems silly to me, too, humans buying and selling us animals like that!). She didn't take me home right away, I stayed with her in a motel (that's what she called it!) several days while she went to work somewheres near by (I heard her say something about "inspecting long-term care facilities" whatever that means(?)). During that time I got to thinking I had Robin all to myself.... Then she took me home, and what a shock I received when she opened the lid to my carrier, and three or four other cats started sniffing at me!! I was mad enough to hiss (in fact, I did!)! I did eventually get over the disappointment of having to share my human, however... Fast forward 7 and 1/2 years, when suddenly another human showed up on Robin's doorstep! I was not sure what to make of this guy, so I ran and hid. He managed to coax me out from my hiding place, however, and had such a soft petting touch that I quickly warmed up to him.... I think that's one of the reasons they got married a year later... Now, Robin's gone (she died in a car crash, I understand) and Russell takes care of us cats (10 of us at last count) all by himself...

I used to be a FAT cat (31 pounds!), but I'm much leaner since my humans put me on a diet. I used to have a beautiful long tail, too, but the vet had to trim it short to remove a benign cyst which was beginning to ooze and get all icky! Mr. Clayton left for the Rainbow Bridge 7/31/06. He wasn't the same cat after his long-time cat friend, Purr, died in June. He was 16 years old, and had a good long life for a cat...

Miss Purr Kitty was my companion cat for the last 8 years. She latched on to me when I became the Top Cat of the group, and has never left me alone in all that time (despite all the frustrated outbursts I launched in her direction). Saturday morning (6/3/2006), she was found on the living room carpet, and she wasn't just playing 'possum....

Yes, I got annoyed at times by her attentions, but we also spent many pleasant hours napping together.... I'll miss her.
