Today is Nemo's Gotchaversary. It's Sunday. It was also a Sunday when we picked up Nemo from Vancouver SPCA.

Tonight we took Nemo for a walk nearby by the river and near a train track, where he accompanied us on the leash a few times before. We spread some of his ashes at a spot where he stood tall in front of me, hissing and trying to protect me from a barking dog. I still remember that day when that totally harmless dog approached us, barking with excitement. I picked Nemo up right away when I saw the dog approached. I held him in my arm tightly while the dog stood wagging his tail, wanting to play. All of a sudden Nemo squirmed out of my hold and jumped onto the ground. Instead of running away to hide, he stood between me and the dog and started hissing viciously at him. That's our Nemo. He didn't back down from any situation. He protected everyone he loved.

I think of Nemo all the time. I thank him for coming to us and changing our life. I thank him for bringing TinTin to us. He knew we needed a cat exactly like TinTin after he's gone.

I know Nemo is out there helping other people. I thank him everyday for gracing the world.
