Arrival Story:
Smokey was rescued by a lady in NC. I found an ad in the paper and contacted her (my other kitten had died recently from a vaccine reaction). I drove out to meet him, and he was so tiny, and living on a porch with a bunch of adult cats that growled at him all the time. I knew he was the one. I picked him up and took him home, and he ate for two days straight! He was one big belly.

It has been a long time since I've writting anything here, so I should fill you all in on my life for the last year. I am taking the allergy shots every two weeks now, and they are not so bad. I still have some flair ups, but they are more controllable with antihistamines than they were before.

I had my teeth cleaned in the spring of 2008, and they said I was nice and healthy.

Life was going good for my until August when my eyes started having big problems. They stayed swollen and painful regardless of what mom did, so she took me in to have them looked at. It was determined that I have dry eye and a severe herpes infection. I have drops now for my dry eye. I have ointment for the herpes. These help some, but the most awesome drug is my anti-anxiety medicine. I feel so good on this! The vet thinks I was stressing out about Mojo and all the tension in the house surrounding him, and I was worrying myself sick. These meds help me deal with this situation a bit better. I also don't gorge myself on my food as much either. Mom is thankful for this!

Now that I am on these meds, I don't need as much of my eye ointment, which is good because I hated it! I don't especially like my pill because it is bitter, but I take it pretty good.

Well, that's about all. I still love getting snuggles and reading with mom in the evenings. I like to play with my brothers. I love my canned food with the lysine in it. I am gaining a bit of weigh, which makes mom happy. I am living the good life!

I've been on my allergy shots for about 7 months now, and they really aren't so bad. I only get one every two weeks now, and they seem to be helping me. When the windows are opened, which isn't often, my eyes itch some, but mom gave me an antihistamine and that really helped me. I don't like taking pills, but she is getting much better, or am I being more tolerant and cooperative?

My latest skill that I've been mastering is opening the closet doors. I have always been a bit obsessed with being in a closet, and now I can get in there whenever I want! Mom is not thrilled because most closets are full of dustmites (which I'm allergic to) due to all the clothes, blankets, etc in them. I've been flairing up some from that lately, so she is trying to find a way to out smart me. I think I'm winning!

Until next time...my quest for the perfect closet continues...
