He was a GENIUS! Once, we accidentally replaced the lid on the litterbox backwards, and he went to the bathroom in the fireplace ashes.

Arrival Story:
Chris & I had just moved to Boise from Florida (via Colorado) and wanted a cat. Right after we found our apartment in January of 1999, we went to the Idaho Humane Society and looked around. Chris noticed Spooky, who was in an out-of-the-way cage. Chris held him and knew he was such a sweet cat. The note on his cage said that his first adoptive mother had recently passed away, and that a family with kids adopted him... but they were way too rambunctious with him, so they brought him back to the IHS. While in line, Kim noticed that another lady had taken Spooky out of the cage and was walking toward the back of the shelter. It turned out that his time was running short, and this lady was an employee of the IHS. She had decided to take him home because he was such a sweet kitty. Too bad for her, though... he really enriched our lives.

He loved sunbeams. He sometimes would make quacking noises out the window while looking at birds. He was truly a member of the family, sleeping with us, hanging out with us, etc. He remained a human-bed sleeper, even after mommy accidentally kicked him and rolled over onto him while she slept. He fell ill suddenly with some sort of lung ailment, and died within a week or two in the Fall of 2003 at the age of 10 or so. We were heartbroken.
