Arrival Story: I'll let my Mom tell it:
Sophie lived at a house I bought. She followed me around during the home inspection and I mentioned to her owner how much I liked her. My kitty, Maggie, had just passed away a few months before. I wasn't ready for another cat, but Sophie was so sweet! About six months after I moved into the house, the former owner called and asked if I still wanted Soph. I said, 'yes,' and the rest is history. She's been my girl for 6 years.
Bio: I have a new crush ... the charming, witty, gutter-lovin' bad boy Rocky the Gutter Cat. Me-OW!

My little girl went to the Bridge this morning. It was peaceful and quick. I had made the decision yesterday to let her go today, but she had a really rough night, so it made the decision easier to deal with. I just wanted to share a few remembrances of a special little kitty.
I know she is healthy again and hissing and growling at every cat who looks at her. I bet the Paw of Death@ is back in action, too. :-) My brother always said "She ain't no easy win," and it was true. Soph could be a sweetheart ... when she wanted to be. But she was all cat. Everything was on her terms in her time. When I first adopted her, I was a bit taken back. She had seemed so sweet when I first met her, but after she came to live with me, she would let me pet her, then bite me. I was very frustrated and nearly took her back to her old family. But I decided to give her a chance, and I'm so happy and fortunate I did. She came to accept me and love me, on her terms. :-)
I had to move in with my mother the last few months of her life, and I took Sophie with me. My mother was not an animal lover, especially not cats. She didn't want Sophie in the apartment, but within a few days of moving in, Mom and Soph were fast friends. Mom started putting turkey on her grocery list, but she hated turkey. It was for Sophie. She would have ice cream for a nightly snack. She always left some in her bowl for Sophie. Soph loved her back, too. She would come in my Mom's room at night when I was helping her get ready for bed. Sophie would lay on my Mom's feet. She would walk up and just fall on her feet. It was so cute. I always said it was her way of hugging.
After my Mom died, Sophie would lay by her bedroom door or under her wheelchair. I really do think she missed her.
My brother came to live with us for a while after Mom died. He wasn't a cat person either. But he became one. Sophie would sleep on his belly (he's a big guy). And she would wake him up for breakfast. If you've seen the little animated drawing going around now, it is so like Sophie. She would meow and put her paw on his face. He nicknamed her Snookie. He grew to love her even more than I did.
Thanks to everyone on Catster for your purrs, rosettes, gifts, notes and support these last few days. And thanks for being friends with Sophie and me. Catster is a wonderful place to share our love of our kitties, but it's even more special because it offers us a place to share our grief when we lose a kitty.
Lovely. It's a game. You're supposed to list seven things about yourself then tag seven other cats to do the same. Well, I'm gonna pass on the tagging because every cat I know has already been tagged!
My Seven
1. I don't like other cats. I tolerate the ones that live in my house, but I don't like them.
2. I love naps. Surprise.
3. I love to nap in the sun. Double surprise.
4. I love tuna, milk, ice cream, yogurt and Pringles. Yes, Pringles. Hey, they're salty. And good.
5. I love my Mom. I growl at her when she moves me so she can sit on the couch. I even bite her, if I can reach her. But I give her lots of kisses too. I love her. I really do.
6. I am a grumpy, growly grimalkin. Look it up.
7. My kidneys are failing. It happens. As long as I can eat and nap, I could care less.
