Arrival Story: My husband and I were recently married and decided that we would love a dog. I had never owned a dog before. I did my researched and we went to many dog shows to check out breeds. When I saw the basenji I fell in loved with their look; their size; their eyes; their beauty. We talked to a lot of breeders at the shows and did the research; however, nothing prepared me for the Basenji. Talker was 6 months old when we got him from his breeder. It was love at first sight. We brought him home and endured the next few years with him. Although the next few years were "ruff" we loved him so much and loved spending every moment with him. He became so much a part of our life. We wouldn't change a thing.
Hi I'm back from my mini vacation and boy did I have fun! The ride started with me being a little shaky and nervous. Maybe I thought I was going to the vet. But after about 30 minutes or so I settled down for the ride.
I'm calling this trip -- EAT FEST 2014! I got another steak on sunday for our annifursary. Mom and I shared her steak and dad shared his fish. Why he doesn't eat meat, I don't know.
Then I had breakfast at the table. Eggs and bacon. Did I mention that we are in Cambria? I also had snacks of my chicken treats and some cheese and salami and some of dad's deli sandwich.
We walked on the beach and on various paths. The weather was great. Chilly in Cambria but hot in Paso Robles where I wine tasted and napped in some of the wine tasting rooms.
I did meet mom's friend (Margaret) pups. There names are Emma and Bella. They are miniature aussies and they were a bundle of fur. They barked at me and I snarked at them. You know me. I'm a slow meeter greeter and there was no time for that because we had to get to the winery.
For dinner I had chicken. Mom gave me lots of her food so I stayed right by her.
After we left Cambria we headed to Pismo Beach where we stayed another night. This was just a kick back day and evening. Taking photos and just watching the sun set on the ocean. The weather was great and I got lots of walks. Boy I was tired.
I would have slept all the way home but we stopped for lunch and I had a burger. Oh I must have gained some pounds! But I think the walks leveled me out.
Today I thought it was my birthday. In the morning Mom AND DAD took me to the Rose Bowl for a three mile walk. I couldn't believe that Dad went wiff us. I got to show off to my dad how I'm just like a heat seeking missile when I walk. I started off real strong, but then I started to slow down after two miles. To reasons: 1) Dad took his time getting us to the Rose Bowl cuz he didn't want to rush which meant that it was getting pretty warm around noon time; and 2) I had to poop so I kept looking for the curb. I finally found an area wiff a curb and I pooped really good.
Then we all went to breakfast! I couldn't believe it. I had eggs and sausages. Yummy. Then we came home and took a nap.
THEN....DAD cooked me up a steak that he found in the freezer and I had that for dinner! I couldn't believe it! Was it my birthday or is this some trick they're playing on me cuz they're really not taking me to Cambria and this is there way of letting me down easy????? I don't know.
You see Sunday we're leaving for our family anniversary. Mom and Dad are celebrating their 13th year anniversary. We always go to Cambria; except last year we didn't because Dad couldn't handle Banners! not being wiff us. But he's willing to try this year. We'll have a lot of memories to remember of all of us being there. It won't be the same.
Anyways, today was the start of my vacation wiff mom and dad and it was a good day for me!
My show is a no show -- mom and dad left me to go see the dodgers spring training in Phoenix! Gramma is staying wiff me. "what gramma? Yeah sure I'll take another chicken taco if you insist."
It ain't too bad here wiff gramma. But she don't do much wiff me but tell me to get off the bed cuz she wants to wash the sheets. "What gramma? Sure I'll take a scramble egg and sausage too, if you don't mind."
The dog walker will be here today. It's hot over here so I hope he don't run me too much. "What gramma? oooh yeah I love to get a pizza tonight. Your treat? Cool!"
