Last weekend's cat show

Mom took Oliver and I to the Janesville, WI American Cat Fanciers Association (ACFA) cat show Nov. 6-7. Oliver did great in HHP (details in his diary). I did not do quite as well as Mom had hoped. I did not make any of the judges finals. I did get my Winner's Ribbons and am now an ACFA Double Champion Alter. There was another Tonkinese entered for Sunday only, so I did have competition in my breed on Sunday, and I got Best of Breed in every ring on Sunday. Mom is still proud of me and is hoping I'll make some finals next time.

Twin Cities Cat Show

Mom took Linus and I to the Twin Cities CFA cat show last Saturday. I got my Winner's Ribbons and am now a CFA Premier (equal to Champion, but for spays and neuters). A lot of Regional Winners turned up at the show, so Linus and I were not able to make the judges' top 10 final cut. Mom did talk to two of the judges and they were encouraging to keep showing. One judge even said any other day, we'd have been in the finals. Mom will keep showing me and try to get the 75 points I need for Grand Premier. Linus is retiring though. Oliver will be my new "show buddy" as he will be old enough to show in Household Pet in another week or two. You have to be at least 4 months old to enter a cat show.

Cat Show

Mom is planning to take Linus and I to the Twin Cities CFA cat show this weekend. I'm doing well after recovering from bronchitis and asthma and Linus will be going too since he seems to be over his cold. Hopefully we'll do well!

Vet visit

Mom took me to the vet yesterday. I was having coughing fits and occasional sneezing and wheezing. My vet checked my out and took some x-rays... I have bronchitis and probably early asthma. I got sent home with an antibiotic for the bronchitis and prednisone for the asthma. At my age (13 months) my vet did say there's a chance I might "outgrow" the asthma. We'll see. I do seem to be feeling a little better today, but I will not be able to go to the cat show this weekend. Mom will still be taking Linus to try for the last points he needs for Grand Premier. A trusted friend will be coming over to check on Oliver and I and give me my medication while Mom and Linus are away.

DOTD!

My typist didn't find out I was Catster's Diary of the Day yesterday (Labor Day) til today! She's had computer issues and was actually working on Labor Day for the holiday pay. Wow! I'm so excited! Thank you to Catster's Diary Gal and thank you to every cat who's read my diary and left congratulations!

Now for some not so great news... I've been having attacks all holiday weekend that look/sound very similar to what my angel brother Mickey's asthma attacks looked like. So, Mom called the vet first thing this morning and I will get checked out tomorrow. We'll see what the vet says...

Cat shows

Mom entered both Linus and I in a CFA cat show September 11-12. More details in Linus' diary. I'll be making my cat show debut as an adult and trying for my Winner's Ribbons for my Premier title. Both Linus breeder and my breeder will be there. Should be a fun show. Will let you know how it goes...

Cat Shows

Mom's talking cat shows! My breeder did show me as a kitten before Mom got me and I did pretty well. We'll have to see what the judges think of me now that I'm all grown up! Mom is going to enter me in the Fox River Valley Cat Club ACFA show in Neenah, WI September 11-12. She also wants to enter me in the Twin City Cat Fanciers CFA cat show in Inver Grove Heights, MN September 25 (Linus will be going along to that one). If anyone will be in the area and wants to stop at the shows and root for Linus and I just let us know and look for us!

Not very often, but occasionally Linus and I have to have a late night wrestling match in Mom's bed!

No, fetching is for dogs!

Yes, I lived with my breeder until I was 7.5 months old. She was going to keep me as a stud, but decided she didn't need another boy.

Thunderstorms

Another big thunderstorm rolled through today - and I was SCARED! Last time it shorted out the fire alarms (causing them to go off), fried Mom's garage door opener (causing her to be late to work), and zapped her t.v. Today we lost power for about an hour and it fried Mom's garage door opener again! The landlord is fixing the garage door opener... again. It was so loud and scary! I hid in the litter-box and didn't come out til I was sure that storm was gone! Even then, Mom still had to coax me out! Linus was fine, followed Mom around as usual. Even that new baby, Oliver, didn't seem too scared. Me though - I was TERRIFIED! I hate thunderstorms. Mom hopes we don't run into any storms on cat show weekends!

My 1st Birthday!

Today is my 1st birthday! I've now lived in my forever home 4 and a half months. Unfortunately I "celebrated" by going to the vet! I got a distemper vaccine and Mom also expressed some concern about my teeth. I do have some mild gingivitis. I'm NOT very cooperative about having my teeth brushed either. At 9 pounds, I'm getting a little "pudgy" too. Tonkinese are generally not very big cats.

Yesterday we had some severe thunderstorms move though our area. Lightening shorted out the fire alarms in our apartment complex (causing them to go off), fried Mom's garage door opener (causing her to be late to work), and zapped Mom's T.V. Linus and I were so scared and hid under Mom's bed for quite a while. Scary part is, the worst of it was north of us, we only caught the edge of the storms.
