I have developed what my mom calls a "terrible habit". I am a butterfly eater. Walking outside, we see lots of insects. I love insects. I love their crunchy outsides and smushy insides. I love their bite-sized goodness. I love to catch their buzzing little bodies in my paws and munch them up. For some reason, my mom does not feel the same way. After I chew up a crunchy little insect, I look at my mom with a happy, satisfied expression, and I expect to see an expression of pride and motherly indulgence on her face. Instead, what I see is: revulsion. Disgust. Horror. And sometimes even nausea. I love juicy fat flies. and squiggly spiders. and cccrrrrunchy cccrrrrickets.
Recently I have discovered a new taste sensation. Butterflies. the little white ones. So far I have caught 3 and gobbled them up before mom could stop me.
And why would she want to stop me, that's what I'd like to know? Doesn't the hunter have a right to his kill? Isn't that a law of the jungle or something? And butterflies are lovely, aren't they? They fill me with hope! I can feel it in my stomach.

I'm a bug eater, too, Toki. I love crunchy little insects. Mom should be thanking me that she doesn't need to hire an exterminator. I've eaten my share of flies and spiders inside our house. Protein ~ yum yum. Haven't eaten a butterfly yet, but it sounds delish!

Really? How nasty? I want to try! I'm one of those that likes to experience it: like "oh does that taste bad? Let me have a bite! Ooo that DOES taste bad!" The only kind of bug my mom has seen me spit out is a millipede. Yuck.

There is one kind of moth - I forget, but I went to eat it & started foaming at the mouth! Scared mom to bits, but they have some chemical on their wings that is very bitter & makes ya do that. It was a kind of big beige one..so watch for that. I like those little white ones too.

Tigger, my mom just googled Lubbers grasshoppers and screamed "EW!". Those look like HR Geiger aliens. I doubt that even I could eat one of those.
Wow, I didn't know those butterflies only live about 2 weeks. That's such a short life. Do you mean the white ones, or all of them? I thought monarchs migrate really far.

We paw at the stink bugs and dismember them, then we get revolted by their stinkyness...
Flies?? YUMMY!
Butterflies do not seem to find their way inside our den, let alone our mouths, MOL!

Mom googled da monarch cause she remembered da 2 week thingie from biology. Monarchs live 2-6 weeks unless they be the last generation of the year, dat one lives 8 months. Now isn't dat somethin'? Most other butterflies and moths live 1-2 weeks after they sprout dere wings.

That is really cool. Mom saw a photo of a swarm (is that the right word?) of monarchs, and it was really beautiful. Mom said she would be brokenhearted if I ever ate a monarch. I think she's biased because they are pretty, but that's not really fair to all the ugly insects, is it? Ugly ones taste just as good.
