"GET OFF MY TURF!!"

Today mom stayed home to work on etsy orders. I was really happy. The weather has been so mild lately, so it was the perfect day for her to take me out. and then back inside. and then out again. and in. and out. and in.
Mom wasn't getting much work done.
I was sitting in the windowsill looking out, when suddenly I saw him. Graystripe!
Graystripe is this neighborhood cat with medium length gray tabby fur. Mom calls him Graystripe after the cat in the Warriors books. She's not sure if Graystripe is a stray or is someone's outdoor/indoor cat. She thought he looked thin, but he's been looking healthier these days.
I KNOW WHY HE'S LOOKING HEALTHIER. Because he's hanging out on MY TURF catching MY birds! I bet that was him who left those dead mice in the driveway. He's taunting me!
When I saw Graystripe today I immediately started staring and getting agitated. Mom opened the window (screen down) and I started hissing. She tried to shoo Graystripe away so I would calm down, but Graystripe just sat in the driveway staring back at me. Mom felt bad because she kind of likes Graystripe (I DON'T KNOW WHY. Mom.) Anyway, she opened the front door to shoo him away, when I slipped past her.
I ran SCREAMING and YOWLING "Get off my turf!" at Graystripe. I puffed myself out so I looked huge. I am longer and taller than him, so I looked very fierce. Graystripe turned and RAN (scaredycat) and I took off after him. Mom was chasing us yelling "Toki STOP!" She was very scared that I would run into the street where cars were going by. I chased Graystripe all the way into these trees and shrubs, out of my territory. Hissing and spitting. Finally I stopped and saw mom chasing me. I allowed her to pick me up but I was still PUFFED out and angry, looking off into the trees where Graystripe had run. Mom held me and said "Shhh Toki" as she carried me back inside.
Mom was a bit shocked. She had never seen me so angry at another cat. I used to go to cat shows, filled with other cats. I am a Grand Premier! I was always chill, very relaxed. Kind of aloof. But that was neutral territory. This was MY TURF. MY YARD. MY BIRDFEEDERS. I hate that Graystripe! I see him hanging out in my yard. and I DON'T LIKE IT. I showed him. He better think twice next time.

Oh boys! Toki... don't do that again! You give your poor mommy a heart attack! That's not nice! Besides, outside nom nomers aren't so bad! We have a gray kitty too! We also have an orange and white one, and a black poofy lady who I call girlfriend! I talk to them through the window, we're buddies! You gotta make friends with the strays, then you can have an army to do your bidding in the outside world! NO running away Toki! Don't scare the mommies!

I used to do that all the time. Didn't need to fight, just displayed my magnificent self before the riff-raff & they scattered. Now I only get to go out on a harness & I'm kinda friends with the strays. At least with Bent Ear & Onyx. *sigh*

I would like to see a picture of you huffing and spitting! MOL. But River is right, that's a scare your meowmy doesn't need! There are too many kitties on here that have gotten lost lately. Don't do that again!

Oh man... I know that horror. There are several "indoor/outdoor" kitties who come by just to taunt me and there's a crazy outdoor only longish haired one that throws himself at the side of the house trying to get to me.

I never got to chase anyone off like you did though... Gotta admire that!

Oh My Cat! you're gonna give us all heart palpitations! Don't be running out the door without your Mama and your harness. **** Ok, Mom, enough! She hijacked my comment, I was going to say "Dude! You Rock! You Tough Guy! I wish I had the fruitcups to do that with the strays in our yard!

I understand! I always hiss when I see a cat out the window. There used to be this one black cat that would just drive me crazy but I haven't seen him in a while.

I feel totally justified in chasing off Graystripe. It's MY turf, not his personal hangout area. Mom is going to be lot more careful about opening the door. She doesn't want me to be unfriendly to other cats though, and she told me so. She said someday when we move out of this small place, she wants to get a second cat. I guess that might be ok. I have always been very nice to my cat mom, younger brother, and younger sister and her kittens when I see them. That's another reason mom was so shocked at my macho behavior.

You sure told that trespasser off, MOL! But you also scared your mom silly!
And us, too...maybe do your huffing and hissing through the window...or wait patiently if pawssible, MOL, for the harness...

Purrs!

Do you think that purrhaps Graystripe is admiring you somehow? He may want to be a brofur of sorts.

Yeah, mom feels bad for Graystripe because he seems like a shy guy to her. . She said maybe if he was the one who kept leaving those dead mice in the driveway, he did it as a gift. I'm not too sure about that. Mom has left out food for him a few times, so it's really her fault that he's hanging out around here. I just don't like it when I go for walks and I can smell his scent all over the yard. Mom doesn't want Graystripe to be hungry, but she also doesn't want me running out to defend my turf either. :(

BEWARE! I know the way that the twisted human mind works! First they feel bad for the stray, then they start feeding it,then they pet it,& before you know it,you're no longer Alpha Cat over Cali, but having instead to deal with a fat streetcat & a gang of kitten-urchins!

Just sayin',is all.....

hmmmmmmmm Tigger might be right... first we fed the strays, now mommy can pick up girlfriend and carry her around outside while she talks (she's got an even louder voice than sisfur!) It's only a matter of time until she comes inside. Sometimes daddy locks us up and opens the front door and asks girlfriend if she'd like to come in... one day she'll say yes...

I think Tigger is rite. Mom started by feeling sorry for this 1 outdoor kat and started feeding her. Then she dropped 4 litters of kittens at our house, (Mom hasn't been able to trap her) that just stayed. Some have been taken in and fixed, some r friendly and get carried around when Mom's outside. Anyway, now there is 12 kats who just stay at our home and others who come for the food.
Humans, their minds r soo predictable!
