Dad and us waited and waited for Mom last night. It was snowing and blowing and cold, and she should have been home much earlier. Finally we heard her car pull into the driveway, and it was way after midnight!
She left work a little earlier than usual, shortly after 9 o'clock, and it took her more than three hours to drive 40 miles! She said the antilock brakes wouldn't even stop her when she approached a red light, so she just looked both ways and ran the light, hoping the police would be forgiving if they saw her.
Big lumps of ice kept forming on the windshield wipers, which then wouldn't clear the windshield, so she had to stop several times on the road to break off the ice. It was snowing so hard that, a mile from our house, she missed a turn and drove onto a side street that hadn't been plowed at all! Fortunately she was able to back out and get on the right road.
Today our driveway is drifted over and the wind is still blowing the snow around. Mom is working from home today. We wish she had done that yesterday (and so does she).
