So we learned a lesson tonight. Our house has two recliners, a couch and a rocking chair. Yes, a rocking chair, with nine cats that have tails! But it was not the rocking chair that taught us a lesson.
What did we learn? Who was schooled? Hmmmmmmm. Mom came home late this afternoon and it was too early for us to eat supper/ (Hmmmmm, I say it is never too early) So she sat down, on the recliner and put her feet up. We came in to gather nearby. Rusty on the other recliner. Skittles on the coffee table. Skylar in a carrier. Maedia in her fish. Daisy under the coffee table. Ivan on the floor by the other recliner. Roni was in the other room and Murphy was upstairs. Where was Percy? The goofball was part way under Mom's recliner.
Mom decided to get up and feed us and bumped Percy with the chair. She didn't hit him hard, she stopped as soon as she felt him. But he ran into the middle room and stopped and stared at Mom as if to say "How could you do this to me? and then he ran upstairs. Some coaxing and he came back out. He sniffed Mom's hand , let her check him to make sure he was fine and then went and hid again. He wouldn't even take supper from her. He is really mad at her. We'll see if he can keep up this silent treatment at bedtime. He loves to snuggle with her when she first gets into bed, then he takes off for some nighttime play downstairs with Daisy. I'll let you know what happens.....
But watch out for recliners and rocking chairs!

Percy will get over it! I have had some scares myself when I decide to wind in and out of legs. I steer clear of the recliner!
I used to have a recliner a long time ago - I steered clear of that up and down part!
Percy will furgive the mama. I been nudged by that up & down part lotsa times. Is no big deal.
Oh my! Mom has always worried terribly about her rocker. So far so good though! And when she would go to work, she would put it up against a wall so it could not rock and we could not hurt each other while playing around. We had knocked it right over on several occasions.
Mom and Dad worry 'bout recliners all the time! They had a friend who had a terrible tragedy with a kitty and a recliner. By all means, watch those recliners. But they are such great places for us to play hide-n-seek!
Aunt Anita made Mom feel worse today because when Mom told her the story, Aunt Anita said " Yeah, he likes to sit there, I always make sure he moves before I put my feet down". At least we know that we have a good cat sitter!
I couldn't stay mad at Mom long. By the time she was back from bowling, all had been forgotten and I wanted my belly rubs.
that was a good reminder for us all to be careful. we have a recliner too - although I sleep on top of it!
