We adopted Pepper from the Toronto Humane Society after seeing him posted on their blog as cat of the week. He looked like such a sweet little guy who had been through a lot in the short six month span of his life.

Bio:
He had a bad eye infection, and the Toronto Humane Society were advised by a Animal surgeon that removal of his eye would be the best for him. It's healed and the new Vet that we have told us that his eye will no longer be a discomfort to him. He is such a trooper, and still has lots of love to give, even with his vision being impared.

animal cruelty

This morning my mom rose out of bed early to feed me and put some cinnamon buns in the oven to bake for her breakfast. She was surprised to read the the President of the Toronto Humane Society was arrested yesterday for cruelty to animals. Apparently he did not go without a fight. He was charged with resisting arrest and he must of strong armed a Peace Officer. His dog Bandit even got into the action and growled and barked at the Police Officers. Those bad Police officers had to pepper spray poor Bandit trying to protect his master. The Humane Society is being charged with neglecting animals in it's Shelter. People feel that sick animals who arrive at the Shelter should be put down quickly to avoid any further pain. But if this was the case, then they would of put me down when I arrived at their shelter on River Street downtown Toronto. Instead they called in an emergency Vet (some bigshot big hearted Animal Surgeon) to come in a advise on the surgical removal of my eye, or so my mom tells me of my early childhood days. I am so glad they didn't call me a lost cause, because look at me now. I have a huge warm bed that I share with my mom and dad, good food, a warm house, and lots of hugs and kisses (maybe a little too many kisses from my mom, but I'm not complaining).
I sure hope they get this cleared up soon at the Humane Society, someone has to run the show there. I guess they arrested another five people at the shelter, on top of the President of the Humane Society. The only good that came from this is 10 outside Vets will be examining the sick animals at the Shelter and give them care, on top of the other Vets which work at the shelter. Maybe a few more kittys and doggies will be looked after with all of the extra hands to care for them.

Yours truly,

Last night when mom and dad came home from work I could tell that this was going to be one of those nights. I am always amused to watch mom run in one place on the loud machine with a fan that blows air on her. I make sure she doesn't fall off this machine while running in one spot, by watching her from all directions. Mom is scared that I may try to jump on the machine she is running on one day, but forget about it, I get enough exercise running up and down the basement stairs..thank you very much. They sure try hard to tire themselves out in the basement by playing with all of the different loud clanking machines. My favourite machine is the one with the wire cable. I give it a good chew once in awhile.
Mom was sure tired last night, she went to bed early for human time, and I spent the next few hours showing off my crinkly fishy toy and golf ball to dad. I made sure she got her beauty sleep, and didn't even disturb her once last night, I slept on dad's side of the bed. Sometimes a mom just has to sleep ya know!

This morning, Ms Shady was making all sorts of fuss and noise in her place behind the closed door in the basement. So I thought it was fitting to make just as much noise as Shady. Mom said "Pepper, it's 5:00am in the morning, please go to sleep." I overheard dad telling mom that if this continues I will be banned from the bedroom. I would be so lonely without mom and dads bed at night. It is very cozy, and mom always makes sure to fluff up my fluffy white blanket on the bed before she goes to sleep. There is always a big blanket cavern between the two of them, and sometimes if I'm lucky I will have warmth on both sides of the cavern. Time to start behaving...a little bit!

Yours truly,
Pepper xx00
