MC picked me up from the vet! I had to stay there all night! Pffttie!
I am diabetic. My glucose was 480 mg/dl and shud be 70-130… *puffs out chest*
Liver and kidneys are ok. No leukemia. No FIV (feline aids). Big Bob died from FIV.
They sent the blood to Texas A&M for a complete panel. The vet hopes I am not FIP positive which can cause diabetes - if MC understood correctly. FIP is fatal and contagious.
Prescription diabetic food is expensive so the vet agreed to let MC stay with the dry Meow Mix Indoor kept out. I will get raw beef, chicken, fish, eggs, etc. twice a day. That should provide me with the high protein and fewer carbs I will need. And less disruptive to our lives.
I will get an insulin shot while I am eating. O_O *laffs* Nuh-uh!
My water fetish should diminish. I have started jumpin’ in the shower with MC lappin’ up water!
MC and needles... she faints. She felt woozy just watchin’ the vet. He had MC do a test try and she did it!
Thank you for your POTP and love! The response on Catster and my Facebook page has been amazin’.
MC is just sick over this but, as we know, our MCs will do what they have to for us.
Please pray the blood tests come back with negative results. I will update when received.
Love and Huggs,
Oh Platey, mommy is crying tears of happiness for you and your MC. So far, so good sweet boy. We aren't fond of needles either, but I know you and your MC are so brave and can do it!! We are praying the blood tests will be negative :) I love you Platelicker forever ♥
We are sending you lots of purrs, prayers and hugs Platey. Your MC is pawsome I know she can do this. We sure love you and your mc.
Love Simba and family
*Friday runs in with a huge smile on his face*
Oh Platey!! so glad your home wif your MC right where you belong!!
We are continuing wif the prayer chain~POTP and Orange PAw Power!! Your gonna be ok, we just have to believe this!!
Your MC and you will get used to the needle, hopefully one day the numbers will improve and you won't need it :)
So glad you went to the doctors. We know all about special food ~ it costs Meowmy over 30.00 a month just for me. No more kibble for mee ever again!!~when your Meowm gets some chicken you can have boiled stuff ?:) just a thought buddy
better let you go and have some time wif your Meomwy!!
Love you forever and ever
Glad you are home! FIP is not contagious. FIP is caused when the corona virus mutates into FIP. That happens in the individual cat and does not spread to others. Corona virus is widespread and about 90% of all cats, even those in the wild test positive for it. However it only mutates into FIP in about 5% of them. There is no conclusive test for FIP, they can only guess by lab values and ruling everything else out. I hope you continue to improve and your labs come back good. We love you, Norman
You better believe we will be praying for negative results, oh and the needles she will get used to them, my momcat used to have to give herself shots for her migraines, she doesn't like needles either but we all know our pawrents will do whatever they have to, to keep us well, will be by tonight with some of my Special Star Dust, be watching the Angels and me we will be in my black Hummer, love you dude, take care of yourself.

Didn't mom tell you? Not all those horrible worries, only diabetes. Of course that is scarey too, but so manageable, and you can live to be an ancient kitty cat with diabetes. Plus you get to eat a lot of meat and fish which are so yummy. Our mommy is diabetic and she said just take your shots, eat right, and run around to get exercise and you will outlive us all, plus you will be a happy guy. We are very glad you have a disease that is manageable, and with the diet changes it might get much better even.We love you so much!!! Take very very good care of yourself now, ok? You have a huge fan club out here. Tell your MC not to worry and that we are all praying and purring for you and for her.
We are purring for you Platelicker and we sure hope the blood test come back negative...
loves and hugs from all of us
Glad you are home buddy! Whooo Hooo!
My angel brother Misha had diabetes. He was always drinkin and peeing too! He got shots for a while but after a little while we could control it with grain free food..no more shots!
I will cook you some good meat at the club :) I hope you are feeling better soon dude!
Mancat hugs and purrs,
I am purring and purring! I hope everything is ok and you get a simple solution! Tell Momcat to be brave!
Tiger and Mommy Dawn
Big purrs that your staff will soon be adept at giving insulin and you'll feel a whole lot better.
I'm so very happy to hear you are home sweet home!! My angel brofur Buddy's furwife (angel Muffy) has a kitty brofur with diabetes. He does just fine now. At first it was a challenge to get his glucose level stable, but now it is! :)
Don't worry too much about FIP, Platey. Norman is right, it is not contagious and doesn't mutate often.
Much love and purrs,
Marmelade and Family
Platelicker, glad to hear you're home. My family and I are purring and praying that you have good blood test results. I was diagnosed with diabetes and had to have insulin shots for a little while. My Mom doesn't like needles, either, but she learned to give me the insulin shots and I didn't mind them.
After Mom and the vet got me on a high protein wet food diet I went into remission and didn't need the shots anymore.
If your mom hasn't already, she should check out http://www.felinediabetes.com/. There's lots of good advice there.
Purrs & best wishes,
Felix & family
Platey, I also wanted to say that my fursibling Buster had FIP when I was young. Like Marmalade ssid, it's not contagious and doesn't mutate frequently, especially in adult cats. Almost all cats will test positive for feline corona vorus. FIP is diagnosed by symptoms like fluid in the abdonen and anemia. Buster was very wiyhdrawn and wouldn't eat or drink. I don't think you should worry.
Glad you're home! My momma has to give the dog allergy shots - the humans get over having to deal with the needles.
Oh no! We didn't know you weren't feeling well and went to see the vet! Glad to hear you are back home recovering! We will send some POTP your way and hope you continue to feel better!
Hugs and purrs,
Simon & Reuben(an angel)
Purrs for a full recovery and that the rest of the test come back good.
Glad you're home! Hope your test results are negative. Sending you lots of purrs and showering you with angel healing dust!
Hugs & purrs,
Miss Mittens & family
I would not eat this morning so I didn’t get my insulin shot. I act lethargic and look like I don’t feel very good. Do ya’ll think this is normal? Is my body simply adjusting? MC is really worried.
She will check on me at lunchtime. She will get the insulin box and be sure that is the correct one the vet prescribed. That tiny bottle cost $100!
