Being around people and my cat brothers
being brushed, having belly touched--I hate that!
my catnip cigar
Favorite Nap Spot:
Mom's bed or the loveseat
Tuna and the occasional french fry, but only from McDonalds!
I come when my mom calls me, wherever I am or whatever I happen to be doing at the time. I also like to knock over full water glasses. Mom hates that.
When my adoptive mom was in college, all she wanted was a kitty of her very own. See, my mom always had cats growing up, and she dearly missed having a feline companion, but since she lived in student housing during three years of school, she had to wait until she moved off campus to get one. Meanwhile, across town, I lived with a nice family for the first year of my life. I don't remember much about my kittenhood, but I think there was a little human in my family that loved me very much. Then, my family had to move, and couldn't take me with them! I was so sad. My little human made me a picture to go on my kennel so that the people who saw me in the shelter would want to take me home. After living in the shelter for five long months, I was laying in my kennel, so lonely and confused as to why nobody wanted to adopt such a pretty kitty as myself, when I saw her!!! It was love at first sight. She came over to my kennel without even looking at the other cats, playing footsie with me through the bars. I think she liked the picture my little human made for me. She finally lived in a place where she could have a cat, and I was desperately seeking a family of my own. We both knew this was forever. My new mom took me home that day and named me Cosmo. Since then I have seen her through rough times, moving, graduating college, and now live with her and my two kitty brothers. Through everything I remain her best friend and confidant.

Today was a hard day for my mom. See, she works at an animal hospital, and today she had to witness the passing of a very young, very sweet kitty named Midnite.
Midnite was a 2 year old solid black polydactyl Tomcat. He was very good to his family and they loved him very much. Unfortunately, Midnite liked to go outside. His family tried to keep him inside as much as they could, but he was not neutered so he always wanted to get outside to see the lady cats. (I got outside one time along time ago and mom just about had a heart attack waiting for me to come home). Well, yesterday he got out, like usual, except when he came home today, his family noticed that he wasn't feeling well. He vomited three times and wouldn't eat.
Then, this evening, Midnite began to seize. His parents rushed him into the hospital so my mom and her friends could help him, but it seemed to be too late for poor Midnite. He had a grand mal seizure on the table, and mom said it was the most awful heartbreaking thing she has ever seen. Even after an injection of diazapam and fluids, he wouldn't stop seizing. He was bleeding from every opening in his body, including his eyes.
After they ran a CBC/superchem panel, it was found that Midnite had ingested antifreeze and there was nothing the doctors could do to save his poor little life. His family made the decision to save him from further misery and help him along to the bridge. My mom was there to see him go because his family just couldn't bear to watch. Mom was there the first time Midnite came into her hospital and she was there for his last visit too.
Midnite's family bought him an urn shaped like a black cat for his ashes. The entire hospital team was teary eyed when they gave him the pink injection to help him along, and mom only held it together long enough to see the family on their way before she broke down.
If Midnite had been neutered and kept inside like my brothers and me, then this wouldn't have happened. He died after suffering GREATLY, and it all could have been prevented. What a waste of a handsome, loving cat. He will be missed.

My brother Loki has been in the bathroom for days. Mom says he's too sick to come out, so I sit on the other side of the door and stick my paw under it so he knows I'm there. Sometimes I talk to him to let him know that I'm here and the other day mom let me in briefly to say hello, and I was so happy to see him, I gave him lots of kisses and head bumps! Oliver and I love our brother very much, and we thank all of you for the nice notes and presents. We know it makes our mom feel better! Don't worry, we'll help her take care of him!
