Hi Catster Furfriends:

Alas, our Mom is going out of town after a two year long party of having her home with us(except for the Best Friends conference in Las Vegas last October). She will be leaving early Friday morning(we're talking around 5 am) to visit her Dad in Aurora, Colorado(driving) and will be back late Monday or early Tuesday. Her dad doesn't have internet access(gasp!!) and Mom does not own a laptop and her cell phone is just that a phone(no texting, pictures,etc.). We are talking "dark ages" here(looks around to make sure Mom is not in the room), so we will not be able to visit or communicate with our Catster friends for a few days. Mom is thinking if she has the time she might go to the library, but only if she's needing a internet "fix" as this will be going "cold turkey" here. If we miss special days, birthdays, rainbow bridge anniversaries, COTD, DOTD awards, honors we wish each of you a big congrats on your special day and know that we will be thinking of you. I hope everyone has a great week-end and talk to you soon!
Love,
Frankie

Hi Catsters:

With much love in my heart I can finally tell you that Vicky has officially adopted Frankie. I went up to visit with them last night and I needed to find out from her what her intentions were as she will be leaving for Canada next month. She told me that she had fallen in love with Frankie and wanted to keep him permanently. I have never been so happy in my life as I think of him as my own and have been praying so hard that this would work out for "my baby". I want to sincerely thank Gleek and his Mom for making this whole situation with Frankie start moving. Without their help I don't think it would have had happened and I also want to thank Miko, Mea-Angel, Mikki, Milo, Mimu, Maui and Mom for their involvment and love and support for me. Vicky will be either having a house sitter come to stay for the summer or if all else fails I will watch Frankie. I also want to stress to anyone who has an adoptable cat/dog here on Catster/Dogster to please don't give up or get frustrated as it just takes time. Join groups and make furfriends on this great network system, put them on Petfinder.com, any rescue group or breed group website. There are a lot of Catsters here that have blog pages to post your stories, just don't give up!! I also want to thank all of Frankie's furfriends and Mom's & Dad's for your unending love, support, friendship & furship to me and Frankie. Words cannot express how truely touched and how much it meant to me, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Love,
Frankie & Judy

Spent the night with Frankie

Hi Catsters:

As you know I've been watching Frankie while Vicky is away on vacation. Bonnie has been going over in the morning and then I go over at night and spend a couple of hours with him. I noticed in the last couple of days that he seemed really lonely so I talked with my husband and we decided that I would spend the night with him last night. I can't tell you what a treat and pleasure it was for the both of us. We cuddled together most of the evening watching the television and I just petted and talked with him as he sat and purred. For the first time I saw him enjoying playing with toys and it made my heart melt. He of course is now king of the house and struts around like it is his castle. He slept curled at by my side and I awoke to him purring in my ear, can't tell you what a beautiful sound that is. Since Vicky won't be back until this coming Saturday I think I'll treat myself to another night of Frankie sitting before she returns. I think I need it as much as he does (laughs).

Love,
Frankie & Judy

Another day in the life of Frankie

Hi Catsters:
I went up to visit with Frankie and Vicky over the week-end. I cannot believe what a transformation that is happening to our Frankie. His fur is so shiny and silky, he's gaining some weight and looks so contented. I guess the stress free life is agreeing with him and he's coming into his own, I am so proud of him I could burst!! Vicky is leaving tomorrow for a cruise for eight days so me and Bonnie(my friend that helps me on the week-ends with my colony and Vicky's next door neighbor) will be taking care of Frankie while she's gone(claps for joy!!). She'll take the morning feeding and then I'll do the evenings and that will give me an opportunity each night to spend some time with "my boy". I've been looking forward to this for a while. Vicky told me that she really loves having Frankie around and gives her a lot of company at night when he curls up next to her on the couch to watch TV. Let's hope she's falling in love!! I'll write later this week and thank you all for caring so much.

Love,
Frankie & Judy

P/S Vicky says that Frankie did really well with her granddaughters while they were visiting and even let them pet him, I was so proud of him!!

Hi Catsters:
I went up to visit with Frankie and Vicky last night. She had been invitied to a Super Bowl party on Sunday so I had to wait until yesterday to get my "Frankie Fix". He is looking so good, his coat is shiny and he just purrs. Vicky had fixed up a window seat for him so he is able to look outside and watch the goings on of the birds and other activities in her backyard. She's got him on a natural diet and it is really agreeing with him and he also doesn't have the stress of fighting to survive in the outdoors. Vicky said that he is one of the sweetest cats and is just a joy to have in her home, I am hoping that he also works his way into her heart. I won't be able to visit with him until after February 20th as her granddaughters are coming to visit this Thursdsay until the 20th, but I think about him everyday and he is always and will forever be in my heart. Thank you again dear furfriends for all of your sincerely kind and caring comments, you don't know how much they make me smile and warm my heart. Happy Valentine's Day to all Catsters & Dogsters from Frankie & Judy

Frankie's New Life

Hi Catsters:
Frankie's Mom here, I just wanted to give an update on my beautiful Frankie. I just got done visiting him at his foster home. Vicky and Frankie are starting to bond (HURRAY!!!!). The first few days there Frankie hid (which is very common and you have to remember he was very traumatized by this whole situation). I talked to her on Tuesday and she told me that Frankie hadn't eaten or drank and I told her that was very common. When I talked to her on Friday he was starting to come out at night and spend the time looking out the window and laying with her on the couch. When I saw them today she said that he's drinking and eating normally, he sleeps during the day and cuddles with her on the couch while she watches TV at night. Vicky is so understanding of the whole situation and is becoming extremely fond of Frankie. I'll be going up to visit with them on Sundays for a while (so I can get my "Frankie fix") and I'm hoping this story has a happy ending for everyone involved. I again want to sincerely thank Gleek and his Mom, Miko and his family for starting this whole wonderful chain of events to begin. And also to all the dear and wonderful friends that leave touching and caring comments on these diary entries. YOU ARE SO WONDERFUL, THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Dear Catsters:

Frankie's Mom here, the transition from here to his foster home went very smoothly. Vicky his foster Mom has a beautiful home and lives by herself. There are no other pets so Frankie (with paws crossed) will have the run of the house. I stressed to her the importance of him being an "indoor only" cat as I do not want other cats to be infected. I'll call her Tuesday to get an update and will visit with him every Sunday (HURRAY!!). Please keep Frankie in your prayers that this works out for him and might be a permanent home. I'll also take new pictures as soon as he becomes comfortable in his new home and post them on his page. I can't thank all of you enough for the sincere outpouring of love and well wishes for my "Frankie". I know there are so many out there like him and I hope there are so many like me that try to save the world "one cat at a time". My heart swells at the thought of your caring, kindness and love for my little boy and there is no way I can express what it has meant to me. Thank you so very, very much.

With Sincere Love,

Judy

Sad News but with a Some What Happy Ending

January 21st 2010 9:44 am

Hi My Dear Catsters:

I'm sorry I haven't written in the last couple of days but Mom has just been sick to her stomach, devastated and her heart was broken into a million pieces. She had taken me to the vet on Monday to get a Feleuk test and then to get vaccinated. The first test came back positive so Dr. Peggy ran another test and had it sent out to make sure it wasn't a false positive. Dr. Peggy called my Mom Tuesday afternoon and told her the sad news. I had Feline Leukemia, though it is not contagious to humans it can be to other cats. Mom called Miko's Mom right away and gave her the sad news, it was so devastating to both families and Mom completely understood that Miko's Mom did not want to put her family in any contact with Feleuk. Mom has been fostering me in her spare bedroom trying to find a foster/permanent home with no other kitties. I'm a healthy guy from the exam that Dr. Peggy gave me and she told Mom I can live another five to seven years.

Mom had called her friend Bonnie that helps out feeding the ferals (Mom has been doing it seven days a week for over a year) to see if maybe she could help find me a home. Bonnie called this morning and told Mom her next door neighbor Vicky is willing to foster Frankie until she leaves at the end of May (she's a "snowbird" and lives here in the winter and goes back to Idaho in the summer). She has no other animals and can give me the quiet enviorment and loving until Mom can find me a "forever home" to call my own. Mom has just been so worried the last two nights and knows the bad breaks that I've had in my life. It started out sad but has a somewhat happy ending. Mom also didn't give up on me.

I again want to sincerely thank Gleek, who got the ball rolling in my adoption and to Miko, his Mom and family for taking the first step in wanting to take me in as their own. You all will forever be my hero's and angels here on earth. Words right now cannot express my sincere gratitude and love.

Also, just because a cat has or is diagnonsed with Feline Leukemia does not mean in any terms a "death sentence" as it was only a few years ago. We can live long and healthy lives and can even live with other cats that have Feleuk. Please don't panic if your cat is diagnonsed with the disease, read up on all the information you can find(they have loads on the intenet) and ask questions to your vet.
Thank you so much my furfriends and Mom will keep in contact with my foster Mom on a weekly basis and continue to write in my diary.
