Catster advocates for adopting before shopping, though we fully understand there are many reasons for seeking a breeder. So, we encourage it to be done the right way. We have not personally visited or investigated all of the breeders below. We have put the top-recommended all in one place for you to get in touch and make the best decision for you. Sphynx cats are very well-known for their lack of hair. Everyone knows what a Sphynx cat is, but these cats are rarer than many other cat breeds. There isn’t as high demand as there is for other breeds, which means fewer breeders.

If you’re looking for Sphynx kittens for sale in Illinois, you have a few options.

In this article, we’ll cover some of the most active sphynx breeders in this state so that you can choose the best one for your needs.

The 4 Sphynx Cat Breeders in Illinois

1. Strange Sphynx and Elf

Illinois Sphynx

  • Milan, Illinois

As their name suggests, this cattery also specializes in producing Sphynx cats. They are a bit more expensive than most catteries out there. However, you get a lot of bang for your buck. They provide extensive health testing and vaccinations for all Sphynx kittens. You will receive the kitten’s health records upon adoption. They also provide a 1-year guarantee for hereditary problems. They have a waiting list, so you may be waiting for your kitten for some time. They accept deposits to hold a future kitten for you.

This is pretty much necessary if you want a cat, as they rarely have more kittens than people on their waiting list. They ship to some other states in the US. The kitten flies with a “pet nanny” and is not put in the cargo area. Most deliveries are pretty affordable, so this is an option if you live in another state.

2. Victorian Sphynx

  • Red Bud, Illinois

Victorian Sphynx cattery is regularly producing Sphynx kittens for sale. They are self-described as a “small cattery,” but they do produce multiple litters a year. If you’re looking for a kitten, you will probably get one quickly from this cattery. Their waiting list is rather long, but it appears that they produce at least five litters a year.

They ship to a few different states, so they may be an option even if you aren’t in Illinois. All their kittens are sold as pets, and they focus heavily on temperament. Their kittens are about average price. You will pay extra for some physical characteristics, such as oddly colored eyes. A deposit is required to get on the waiting list. However, this deposit is relatively low.

3. Pink Palace

  • Sheridan, Illinois

Pink Palace is a TICA-registered cattery in Northern Illinois that produces Sphynx cats. They follow strict breeding standards that involve extensive genetic testing and pair matching. All cats are health checked before they are bred, and all kittens are carefully socialized.

Their kittens are sent home at a minimum of 12 weeks of age. Many are not adopted out until they are closer to 16 weeks, though. This ensures proper vet care and socialization before the kitten is put into the new home.

While they are a bit expensive, a lot of stuff comes with your cat. For instance, all cats are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, and health tested before being sent home. They come with an HCM (feline hypertrophic cardiomyopathy) guarantee and lifetime support. You’re getting a lot for your money.

4. Glamour Cattery

  • Chicago, Illinois

This TICA-registered cattery is located in Chicago. All of their cats are raised in their home, as they are entirely home-based. They focus on producing cats with great personalities and health. They raise show cats, and most of their breeding cats are imported. They tend to be a bit more expensive for this reason.

They provide a genetic health guarantee for their kittens and sell all their kittens under contract. All kittens are litter trained and fully weaned before they are sent home. They socialize their kittens extensively. They seem to be one of the less active catteries, and you may have better luck with one of the other options we’ve listed in this article.

Conclusion

There aren’t as many Sphynx breeders in Illinois as you may think. However, there is enough to make finding a cat very plausible. Most of the time, you’ll be able to find a breeder near you that has a kitten available. Waiting lists are often a part of adopting a Sphynx cat, but you likely won’t be on one for a very long time.

We recommend doing your research on these breeders before deciding which one to adopt. They vary in price and what they provide when you adopt your kitten. Don’t simply choose the breeder closest to you, but visit one that will give you the highest quality Sphynx cat.
