Thanks to the efforts of a Broward County Sheriff’s Fire Rescue Captain, a family’s cat is alive and recuperating well. Cpt. Tom Posey found the cat under a bed while searching a smoke-filled house near Fort Lauderdale.
The rescue team arrived to find a FDNY firefighter who was visiting a relative putting out the fire with a garden house.
Posey searched the house, found the cat and began resuscitating her using a bag-valve mask that’s usually reserved for pediatric patients. The cat was revived successfully and taken to a vet for evaluation.
