The 10 Places to Take Your Cat for Fun

1. Hiking Trails

Hiking trails are excellent outing experiences that you, your partner, and your cat can enjoy together. There are many pet-friendly hiking trails with varying levels of difficulty that your cat can visit. It’s a great way to spend quality time with your loved ones while getting some exercise in.

Most hiking trails have pet policies that require all animals to be kept on leashes while walking along the trail. If your cat isn’t leash-trained, you can still carry them in a cat backpack as long as they’re kept inside for the duration of the hike.

Cat cafes offer their own unique experiences. Some may have full food and drink menus, while others feel more like a lounge or living room.

If you want to visit a cat café, make sure to book an appointment in advance. Some cafes welcome walk-ins, but they don’t guarantee availability to spend time with their cats.

10. Kattenstoet

Kattenstoet is a parade that takes place every 3 years in Ypres, Belgium. The parade has ginormous cat floats and people dressed in fun and decorated cat costumes.

One of the most notable parts of the parade is tossing toy cats. This tradition does have dark roots, as it originates from cats being tossed from the Cloth Hall belfry tower due to their associations with witchcraft. This medieval practice ended in 1817. In 1938, a group of altar boys organized a parade and threw down toy cats from the belfry tower, and this tradition has been held ever since.
