CatCrazy Creator Petra Luna Receives Four Certificates of Excellence for Cat-Focused Video Work

PRESS RELEASE

Menifee, California — September 28, 2026 — Petra Luna, creator of the CatCrazy Channel and founder of CatCrazy, has received four Certificates of Excellence (COE) in the 2026 Cat Writers’ Association (CWA) Communications Contest in the Video, Film, or Television Production category.

The recognition adds to the three Certificates of Excellence Luna received in the 2025 CWA Communications Contest, bringing her total to seven CWA Certificates of Excellence over the past two years.

For Luna, the awards represent more than recognition for individual videos. They reflect the mission that has driven CatCrazy since she launched the channel in 2019: helping cat parents better understand their cats and make more informed decisions about their care, nutrition, and the products they bring into their homes.

From Cat Lover To Cat Educator

Luna's journey into cat education began after the loss of two beloved cats, Chopin and Wazoo, following what she describes as a devastating experience involving treats she had trusted.

The experience changed the way she looked at the products she was giving her cats — and ultimately changed the direction of her life and career.

She didn't set out to become a cat-food entrepreneur. She became one because of what happened to her cats.

Luna began creating videos through the CatCrazy Channel, exploring topics ranging from cat behavior and health to nutrition and the pet food industry. Over the years, the channel has grown into a community of more than 220,000 YouTube subscribers, with CatCrazy also reaching cat lovers across multiple social media platforms.

“I started creating content because I wanted cat parents to have better information and to ask questions about the things we often take for granted,” says Luna. “There is so much information out there, and sometimes it can be difficult to know what to believe. I wanted to help cat parents become better informed and more confident advocates for their cats.”

How Education Led To Creating Cat Food

Luna's work as a cat educator eventually led her to an unexpected next step: creating her own cat food.

Today, CatCrazy offers Puckin’ Crazy Chicken Feast, a premium freeze-dried raw cat food created specifically for cats. The food is made in the USA and formulated to be complete and balanced for cats of all life stages.

“Creating our own cat food was a natural extension of that mission,” Luna says. “If I'm going to talk about what cats deserve, I also want to create something I genuinely believe is worthy of feeding to my own cats.”

CatCrazy's approach combines education with a consumer product, giving Luna an opportunity to address both sides of the equation: helping cat parents understand what they are feeding their cats while creating a food she feels good about feeding her own.

Recognition from the Cat Writers’ Association

The 2026 CWA Communications Contest recognizes outstanding cat-focused work across a wide range of media. This year's entries came from Australia, Belgium, Canada, Egypt, Great Britain, New Zealand, Japan, Puerto Rico and 28 U.S. states.

Contest categories include publications, articles published in print or online, poetry and fiction, non-fiction books, digital and broadcast media, and images. Entries come from writers, journalists, bloggers, photographers, artists, broadcasters, veterinary professionals, and other content creators.

Luna's four 2026 Certificates of Excellence make her eligible to receive a Muse© Medallion, the highest award presented by the Cat Writers’ Association to content creators. The 2026 Muse© Medallions will be presented at the CWA's annual convention in Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas, November 6–7.

About the Cat Writers’ Association

The Cat Writers’ Association was founded in November 1992 when four cat journalists met at the Cat Fanciers’ Association Invitational Cat Show in Fort Worth, Texas. The organization was created to help provide good information about cats to the general public and support writers dedicated to that effort.

Today, the CWA has approximately 300 members representing a wide variety of talents and media, including journalism, social media, graphic design, writing, radio, television, videography, podcasts, websites, blogs, photography, illustration, cartoons and more.

The CWA supports existing members and seeks to mentor those new to the profession. Its goal remains to improve the quality of cat information and to inspire, educate and inform.
