(This post is likely to jinx the Giants, and for that I apologize in advance.)
As the Giants vie for the National League pennant this weekend, the San Francisco SPCA is root-root-rooting for the home team the best way they know how: by making it as easy as possible for adopters to find cats who are dressed in the colors of the Giants’ uniforms: orange, black & white. Right now, all orange, black, and calico cats and kittens are available for adoption from the SF SPCA for an unbelievably low fee of $9.00.
Here’s their starting line-up:
2-1/2 year old Shira, Center Field, bats first. She’s a magical cat with an unforgettable personality, sure to shine in the post-season.
Batting second, this 6 1/2 year old recently recovered from a broken leg here at our hospital, and he’s made a stunning comeback this season. (SS)
With a .315 batting average, playful Daisy’s having a remarkable year (3B).
In the cleanup slot, we have First Baseman Kiyoshi, a fluffy, orange 6 1/2 year old. He’s a lover, not a fighter… except when he’s at bat.
Batting fifth, Mr Spike is a mature, mannish cat of 10 years. An outstanding outfielder, he’s won two Golden Paws. (LF)
Sixth in the lineup, catcher Oreo Cookie is a 10 year old girl with purr-sonality plus and an uncanny knack for calling the right pitch.
Batting seventh, demure Betsy (RF) is a shy 4 year old girl, but loves to be petted on her cheeks and cute little chin.
In the eighth slot, All-Star Keiko is a striking black cat that really likes to pal around with people. (2B)
Pitcher Pollyanna rounds out the lineup. Her fastball has been clocked at 98 mph, but she’d like to retire to a slower-paced life in a quiet home.
