We love cats, but in order to have a cat in the house, we need to maintain a litter box. The litter box is simultaneously one of the best and one of the worst aspects to sharing our homes with cats. On one paw, there are no midnight walks in the rain, while on the other paw, well, you know … it’s a litter box. This particular facet of cat companionship has people constantly searching for creative solutions to the age-old litter box problem.
Created by Robert Brinkmann and Dan Panosian of IOVO designs, the Litterfish is a litter box in the shape of a fish. Because why not? Cats love fish. Whether they’re eating delicious fresh tuna or sitting transfixed in front of the aquarium or … pooping inside a fish. It’s the sort of fuzzy logic that would make the Cheshire Cat giggle, but hey, we’ve got cats, and that means we’ve got a sense of humor — right?
Ruggedly and comically constructed, the Litterfish is still in its preorder stage. At $159 a pop, the company wants to make sure there is enough demand before creating supply, so it’s trying to secure 1,000 orders before putting the Litterfish into production (don’t worry, if it doesn’t reach its goal, customers will be refunded).
At the end of the day, a pan of sand still does the trick, but even the cat might want something a little more intriguing. How many of our Catster readers have creative litter box solutions?
