Arrival Story:
Katie and her four kittens were living under a trailer in a trailer park. Those folks were doing some painting on my house, and knowing I did some cat rescue, they asked if I would help find homes for Katie and her kittens before the winter set it. I was surprised to find a seal point siamese delivered to my door. Two of her kittens were siamese mixes, one was a torti, and one was all black. They were scared but not feral, and it took some time for them to come around enough to be placed. The two siamese went to a siamese rescue, and I placed Miss Torti kitten, and JackJack (the black one) in nice homes myself. Katie wasn't placed because I thought she might be pregnant, and needed to have her spayed first. Turns out Katie is just built about as weirdly as any cat I've ever seen, with short little legs, a huge belly (augmented by a big hernia) and a stubby tail and no neck. Beautiful she really isn't, but cute she is. Turned out Katie was not pregnant, just weird, but with a horrible bladder infections that required a lot of help. She is still a very timid and meek kitty, but very devoted to me and most especially my daughter. Katie is really Kelly's cat now. We decided to keep her once Kelly just couldn't stand to part with her.

Bio:
We call her our carnivore kitty, as she has a meatloaf body, a sausage tail and legs, and a meatball head. Seriously, this is the weirdest proportioned cat I've ever seen. She is now as fat as a beach ball, and when she runs, no one can help but laugh. We think Katie was just a baby herself when she had her kittens.... probably 4.5 to 5.5 months old when she got pregnant! So, as a birth date, we picked the date she came to our house -- October 2. Her kittens were actually about 4 plus months old, rather than 8 weeks, when we got them... they were just small due to their hard life to that point. So, we're saying Katie was one when she came to our house that day. It's as good a birthdate as any, since it's really when her real life began. The folks who trapped her and brought her to us say that people move out of the trailer park all the time, and just leave their cats behind. Katie is lucky to have survived. She is a sad story with a happy ending, we hope. We hope someday she will really come out of her shell. She was doing better until Skiddy Kitty came to live with us -- she does NOT like him, and prefers to stay in 'her' room mostly. But she seems very happy, and is very outgoing with her chosen humans. I hope she learns to trust even more as time goes on,
