Arrival Story: Lady adopted us in the winter of 2005-06. She was a sleek, clean, apparent stray (collarless), who was hanging around our yard; when I fed her and gave her fresh water she gobbled and drank as if she hadn't eaten for days. She disappeared for a few weeks, and we figured she'd found her way home, or found someone else to take her in; then she returned in late February, still friendly and clean and healthy seeming, and still ravenous. We inquired about people missing cats to no avail. She hesitated at first to come in the house, but warmth in February was an irresistible lure, so she spent a couple of nights taking shelter on the ground floor, then went out to roam during the day but always came back for meals - or if she heard my voice or footsteps as I went about ordinary outdoor tasks. After a few days of this, I took her to the vet to see if he could find an ID chip on her, as well as to have her overall health checked out, since she was coming in contact with with our cats. No ID chip, clean bill of health - and she's been spayed. Vet estimated she was about a year old. And so she got a round of shots just to be on the safe side, and has made herself at home in our house. Her integration with 3 other housecats (plus a semi-feral resident) has been surprisingly undramatic, although she intimidates Leo simply because she doesn't back down or get hysterical when he stalks her - she swats him instead, and occasionally stalks and tackles him first. She comes when she's called, often so silently and stealthily that I have no idea she's at my feet. She loves sitting on my chest when I'm in bed reading and gently nipping my nose.
Bio: Special talents: serving self from cat food bins - she can open the lids, and apparently food tastes MUCH better in the bins than in her bowl; knocking at the door to be let in (she grabs edge of door with her paw, pulls it out, and releases it with a bang). She is Miss Resourceful Kitty, an Amazon, and a bit of a McGyver.

I love Olde Furts, and I love visiting their Home!
My friend Vlad Tepse, who is a furry handsome and gentlemanly vampire cat, tagged me fur this game. I am supposed to tell you seven exquisite things about me that I like a particular lot. It is going to be furry hard to choose only 7.
1) I have furry subtle and even markings in my black and grey coat.
2) My undercoat is a soft warm caramel colour, with pretty white highlights that Mama thinks makes my undercarriage look like a yummy caramel cream bullseye candy.
3) My toe pads are a rich, minky brown-black.
4) I have expressive eyes that can look innocent or evil or almost anything in between.
5) I know how to get out of almost any situation I don't want to be in. I can wriggle out of any collar, and get off the porch through the mail slot, and I know how to knock on the door so the People will let me in. I also can help myself to kibble whenever I want it, because I know how to open the bin it's in. (My bowl always has food in it, but food you obtain for yourself tastes much better!)
6) I am effortlessly decorative, always posing in a strikingly elegant way.
7) I am tougher than any boy cat in this house, and they know it.
I am supposed to tag 7 kitties, but I don't think that's fair because then all the other kitties will be jealous. So I will just say that if you want to tell the world seven of the furry best things about YOU, do write it in your diary!
My new friend Princess Diana 197714 made a lovely portrait of me. You can see it above. Wasn't that sweet of her? There are so many thoughtful and generous kitties on Catster.
