Arrival Story: About a year after my sweet Sally crossed the bridge, I was "just looking" at adoptable kitties on Petfinder. I came across Leo and just fell in love. After some emails with the rescue organization, I went down to Tucson to meet Leo and his brother Charlie. I couldn't stand to separate them and leave Charlie behind. With lots of thought (and some support from Catster friends!) I made the decision to adopt Leo AND Charlie. They came home on June 13th, 2009.
Bio: When Charlie and Leo were about 2-3 weeks old, someone brought them into a vet's office in a shoebox. The vet couldn't take them and the person was headed to a local kill shelter to drop them off. A woman in the vet's waiting room offered to take them. She bottle fed them for 3 weeks and then they were taken in by their foster mother who provided loving care until they were ready to be adopted and come home with me!

I am special: One day, when I was 6 months old, I couldn't jump any more. The vet thought I had a muscle strain. I didn't get better so we went back to the vet. She was very worried and ran lots of tests. Two days later, I was no longer able to stand or walk or use the litterbox. It was very scary. I saw another vet. She referred me to a neurologist. He did special electrophysiolocial testing and diagnosed me with peripheral neuropathy (possibly immune-mediated). That means that my brain's messages to the nerves in my legs weren't working right. I started on special medicine and am getting better! The power of the paw and all of the purrs from my Catster friends is what made the difference! I love you kitties!
It's been a regular lovefest at my house! Sure, there's been a couple of notable exceptions: Charlie keeps biting mommy and Lucy still has her grumbly, growly moments. But, for the most part, loving has been in the air!
I LOVE to lick Charlie's face! I've been feeling lots of brotherly love lately. Last night Charlie and I cuddled up together on Sophie's big dog bed. And yesterday, Lucy and I were all cuddled up with our paws wrapped around each other! And of course, I'm mommy's cuddle bug anytime she sits or lays down!
P.S. Mommy's been working long hours and she has a conference all weekend so we are really behind in our Catsterland happenings! So sorry if we haven't responded to pmails, rosettes, haven't read diaries, and if we've missed any special honors. Trying to catch up!
I'm feeling so good! Sure, I'm a little juiced up on prednisolone and it's making me a BIG kitten (I just know I'll catch up to Charlie's size; he's huge!) but it's also helping me to get healthy. I'm running, jumping, and climbing like crazy trying to make up for the time that I wasn't able to do these things.
Last night I was chasing Charlie and the chase just happened to lead across mommy's bed and a sleeping mommy. I woke her up by jumping onto her tummy and then leaping off the bed! She didn't know what hit her. An 8 lb bowling ball? Nope! Me!
Later, after mommy had gone back to sleep, I found my way on top of her again. I kneaded and purred and drooled all over her shoulder and cheek! 'Cause I'm a lovebug!
I have yet another new nickname! Tonight, mommy was cleaning up the kitchen. I ran by her and leapt onto the kitchen counter from the floor (cause that's the kind of thing I do now!).
Mommy watched the whole thing with a smile. She looked over at me, proudly sitting on the countertop and said, "Impressive, young grasshopper!"
And somehow, grasshopper has stuck. She's used this new nickname at least 10 more times tonight!
