It's the latest thing everyone’s talking about in New Zealand.
Funny where ever you go someone seems to bring up the conversation.

Here in New Zealand most cats are indoor outdoor and I know many here on Catster think cats should be locked up. BUT ... I disagree because cats are part of the eco system too, with them keeping down rats, etc. (that will pry on bird’s eggs).
Cats love to sleep most of the day and many people bring their cats in at night.
I heard NZ probably has the highest population of cats per house hold in the developed world. You just need to look outside our home to see it, our neighbours all, but one, has a cat. We know the cats names and see them walking around outside.

It's an interesting debate.
I also think the humans should look at themselves and see that they are probably the biggest threat to the planet. Cutting down all the trees, and bush, for houses.

By the way if you say we should just lock the cats up please also remember that New Zealand is listed as one of the safest places in the world too.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2009/jun/02/newzealand-tops-global-peace-ranking

<a id="img8420868059" class=bodyTextRev target=site onClick="alert(\'Catster Alert: You are about to visit an outside link that was submitted by this pet owner.\');" href="http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2009/jun/02/newzealand-tops-global-peace-ranking" onmouseover="var el = $j('#img8420868059');var c=String.fromCharCode;var q=c(34);var l=c(60);var r=c(62);var a=c(39);var p=c(43); el[0].onmouseover = null; var n=$j(document.createElement('div')); n.insertBefore(el); n.html(''.concat(l, 'img src=', a, 'http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2009/jun', '/02/newzealand-tops-global-peace-ranking', a, ' /', r, l, 'BR /', r));">top countries for safety</a>

I'm not saying it's at the top as it all depends on who you listen too.

But I think it's lovely to have cats around in and outside they offer so much. To children it is to learn the cats are not wild they are someone’s pet you can't just go and harm them for fun. You should never harm any living thing anyway, but it helps teach kids compassion.

As you know compassion helps keep the crime down. With all the studies they have done with links of crime to animal cruelty.

Cats do help with the Eco system and play a very important role here, I think.

What do you guys think?

Oh I forgot to mention for those that don't know New Zealand. We are group of 3 main islands (North, South Island and Stewart Island) we are situated just east of Australia (an no (lol) we are not part of Australia)and we are north of Antarctica.
We have no large predators here. No Bears, Coyotes, foxes, snakes, large birds of prey, large cats (except in the Zoos) It’s pretty safe here for them.]]></content:encoded>

Human ... this is amazing where have the years gone. I still refer to Sam and D as the kittens and to think they are almost considered seniors (to the cat food companies). It really didn't seem that long ago that Raza and I stayed up all night while she had her kittens. We even made a 1am trip to the vets that night.

Just after Sam and D turned one we joined Catster in Feb, So we are coming up to 6 years on Catster.
Just where has those years gone?????? did we sleep through it all????]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ I see the movies out on the 12 of Dec. You'll get to see a little of good ol' NZ. If any fur is coming to visit Hobbiton it's our summer at the moment. We get a sunny Christmas here and we tend to have B B Q's at the beaches for Christmas day.
I saw some info for those wanting to visit Middle earth it had a couple of other things that is a must see.

here's the info....

http://nz.totaltravel.yahoo.com/experiences/a/-/15560827/experience-the-trilogy/

But if you do go, there are many more things to see on the way too, Like a Kiwi sanctuary where you can see the Kiwi bird up close. At the caves you can also do black water rafting.

I just thought I'd let you know if you are getting sick of the cold weather and want a change.

We here have been really busy the human tells us we are moving soon. I'm not sure if we are going to like it, the move that is. I got a whiff of what the humans where saying and it looks like we are going to be locked up in a house for awhile. "I'M DEFINITELY NOT GOING TO LIKE THAT" (* D Screams at the top of his lungs).
But what I gather our house is sold so we have to move out.

The human tells me it's a good thing it's another step to her dream.
Maybe one day we can foster kitties but we need to set ourselves up for it first. We'll see.
Take care every fur over the holiday break and I hope you all have a pawsome time.
Many purrs from all of us in NZ, and whisker kisses under those mistletoes. xxxx]]></content:encoded>

		<description>This was weird weird weird.

We have to thank Norman http://www.catster.com/cats/704546and Catster ...</description>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ This was weird weird weird.

We have to thank Norman http://www.catster.com/cats/704546and Catster for this strange thing or was it the Catster furry angels at work here.

What happen was the human put some furniture on line for sale and it was won by someone. They came around to look at it and pay, which was great and they organised when they would pick it up.

They mentioned where they lived which was a rough area, and I have to admit they looked the part too. The human was home alone and the neighbour made a point of mentioning they saw these people turn up and then proceed to pinch the fruit of the other neighbour’s tree.
Yikes!!! alarm bells. The human rang the neighbour and apologised for what happened.
Then came the day for them to pick up the items.
The human was still home alone (except for us killer cats) so organised the house so they didn't have to come in.
She just sat down to the computer and had clicked on Catster. She did not get the usual auto log in, it just went to the front page.

Norman was there as COTW so the human clicked on his profile. Then there was this bang at the door.

It was them they were lovely people but the human was still cautious. She pushed the furniture out the front door for the two guys to carry up the long driveway, while they were doing that, the human stayed talking to the lady as she didn't want to leave the house unattended.
The guys had been back for the second item and while they were away all of a sudden music starts up very loud from the computer (the door was shut to the room.) But it was very clear to hear.

The human thought that was strange and thought it was the neighbours. Anyway after they left she realised it was from Catster and Normans page. Wow!!! She thought,.... that just kicked in on its own accord

Weird????? She thought the music had gone from Catster AND not to mention, it had been quiet for at least 10 minutes before it started up.

What was good... it made it looked like the human wasn't alone. That there may have been some-one else in that room. Usually music doesn’t normally just start up on its own.

So a big thanks to Catster, the Catster angels and Norman for this strange event.]]></content:encoded>

		<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Yep it's here alright !

BUT...... what is it with cats. (it's the human here) Ours would meow at the door, we would open it. As soon as they see it's raining and cold out there, they stop dead in their tracks. Then just sit there looking out tossing up whether it's worth it. We shut the door they meow again. We open it and again they sit looking out hoping it had changed since the last time they asked. Oh and yes they have a cat door too, but it's more fun asking for the big door to be opened by the cat servant.

Hummmmm...... (D here) well what do you expect I want warm sunny days out there, not cold raining windy dark nights. I want you to change it.]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Hi, thank you everyone for all the lovely Easter eggs. AND thank you Catster, for giving them to us too. I wish I had time to post away, unfortunately we'll have to miss out, the human has to run soon. We still need a new secretary so we can be here more often.

We hope everyfur and their humans are having a great time and that your weather was as good as it was for us.

We had an amazing spell of good weather and it looks like it may last over the whole week end.
It is autumn here and the weather is lovely and warm, actually way better than it was for our summer, go figure.
Anyway...
The human here is still working most days, so she tries to pop in for us when she can.
MOL funny enough she saw a competition on the front page of Catster last month and loved the prize, she brought one for herself.

MOL this should be a laugh she has to go to a black tie event so she brought some CATTOOS from

<a class=bodyTextRev target=site onClick="alert(\'Catster Alert: You are about to visit an outside link that was submitted by this pet owner.\');" href="http://cattoodesign.com/buy-temporary-cattoos/">CattooDesign.com</a>

to wear to the event.

They are really cool, she brought the kitty tribal face and the paw prints. MOL She's too chicken to get real ones.

It'll be interesting to see if she's too chicken to even wear these ones MOL

Well I hope everyone is well, safe and happy.
Purrs For now Purrs Mr D, Sam, Raza, Balty (Angel) and the ratbag Blue when she pops over. Boy she is getting big now. We still don't see her too much on her own but that maybe because Raza keeps her away from the house. She is so territorial, I think she has little cat syndrome she is such a bully, Raza that is.]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ I kind of have a question I hope I’m wrong.........I invited one cat from You Tube but they declined because they were worried about one of the conditions for joining. Apparently it says...

"Catster.com's proprietary rights

By submitting, posting or displaying any Materials on or through the catster.com service, you automatically grant to us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, right to publicly display or re-display such Materials in other formats not simply limited to websites."

He then said..

The above means they own your photos and can publish books, calendar, greeting cards or anything of your photos for a profit and pay you nothing for it.

I can see where he’s coming from.

I think these guys would love Catster if it wasn’t for that clause and how it’s written.
http://www.youtube.com/user/utahactor

I hope it isn’t the case and we the cat-tographers retain exclusive rights for our photos. I understand that Catster can use our photos in other things like newsletters, the front page and other things to do with Catster. That’s fun and used in good faith on the site we use. But to use our photos for monitory gain elsewhere I think would be wrong.
Am I wrong????????? I hope so.

Also about the ads, I know there are many that are complaining about the new roll over ones and how they chew up the bandwidth.

I can understand that, I had real big problems last year that my catputer couldn’t handle catster and the pages wouldn’t load.
I needed an upgrade, well the catputer was dying anyway so it needed something to be done with it.

There used to be a flashing one (ad) I wrote to Catster and told them it wasn’t nice and hard on the eyes.

I’m not sure if they were listening but I’m sure pleased they are no longer there, I’m just hoping they don’t come back.

I know many cats use software to remove the ads but that’s crazy, what about those just joining that don’t know the tricks. No wonder there aren't too many new cats joining. It’s too hard to use and it’s no fun if you can’t get the site (Catster).

I wonder if there is a way they can make the ads smaller, as in... they don’t take up as much energy to run. Or have them static. Do they listen to our comments? I know they used to, they were great and it felt like we could contact them. But I’m not sure anymore as it all seems so much cooler now. * D pouts*

We love Catster it’s fun here, though I have to admit the human was very busy last year, and we didn’t get as much us time on Catster. *D pouts again* So sorry we haven't been around much.

We hope all is good with our fur-riends and I hope this year has started out well for you all.
Many purrs from us]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ I can't wait for the pet tracking devices to get better. Here's a new one that was posting on the missing cat assistance group.

http://www.pettracker.com/pet-gps/gps-cat-tracking

And the one I have on the fur gang here at the moment is...

http://www.loc8tor.com/?gclid=CI7g7eOH6asCFWVV4godtSZRIA

It has a little pouch for the tracking device to sit in so it doesn't hang off the collar. LOL or they would dip it in their water bowl. It is very light weight You can see it on one of D's photos
<a id="img9805891794" class=bodyTextRev target=site onClick="alert(\'Catster Alert: You are about to visit an outside link that was submitted by this pet owner.\');" href="http://files.dogster.com/pix/cats/29/482329/482329_1316060736.jpg" onmouseover="var el = $j('#img9805891794');var c=String.fromCharCode;var q=c(34);var l=c(60);var r=c(62);var a=c(39);var p=c(43); el[0].onmouseover = null; var n=$j(document.createElement('div')); n.insertBefore(el); n.html(''.concat(l, 'img src=', a, 'http://files.dogster.com/pix/cats/29/482', '329/482329_1316060736.jpg', a, ' /', r, l, 'BR /', r));">Photo of D with the tracking device</a>

I did wonder where D was the other day so I used the loc8tor. It didn't
find him right away, the tracker must have been tucked under his fur while he
was asleep. I walked around outside until I started to give me a reading I was calling him too. He must have gotten up because I then started to get a direction to head. I tracked him to a room inside the house. It kind of worked, and through walls (once he was standing).

It's nice to know I do have another tool to track him with. He has
a collar with a name tag
Micro chip
and now the tracking device, lol if the collar stays on him.

When the GPS ones get better and the battery lasts longer we will probably get one of those.
I like the fact it'll (the GPS ones) will let us know if he goes somewhere we don't want him to go. But that will have to be in the future.

I hope this info helps other furs as it's not nice to lose a furry friend. Purrs for the ones that are missing I hope you are found soon.

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Meows, Thank you Da Tabbies O trout towne and Ollies family for responding to my diary entry.
I know the human has been very slack at writing my thank yous, she still intends on doing it. She starts and then has problems with the gift shop unfortunately she doesn’t have time, she feels bad about it. We may just need to send out thank yous that are copy and pasted. I'm so sorry.
Normally we write different ones, but this time with the slow catputer and the gift shop not opening it's an impossible task.

I put the diary entry here to see if anyone was in NZ, so we could catch up since we are so close to the action.

The human has been really busy at work trying to sort stuff out. Today she has a day off but in the afternoon she has to go to a conference so that will wipe out the rest of her day.
BUMMER...

I hope all is good with everyfur and yes I'm good and really really happy to be home. The old guy Balty's still with us Raza went to the vets again for a UTI. The drugs she's on, she loves, so that's a huge plus and Sam is her normal purrty self purring and as loveable as ever
That’s our news we hope all is good with everyone else

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Thank you every fur we are doing our best to find the D myster. Sorry we are not keeping up with Catster very well. But we are trying to keep up with friends, look for D then the human has to go to work Grrrrr on the last one. We still haven't got to thank everyfur for the gifts and rosettes yet. We seem to getting further and further behind. The human is having to work longer hours too, Since another work person has more serious life and death problems to deal with. We are lucky I'm sure D is fine we just have to find him.
Here's a copy of the post we put in the forums...

Funny enough we have to go D hunting twice a day.
1 In the middle of the night because that will be when D's probably active as he is shy and will be scared.
2. Then again at 5 pm around all the places were we are getting the phones calls. The reason for the 5pm one it is to eliminate the cats, as this seems to be a time most cats are outside at the front gate waiting for the humans to come home. We just went out to another sighting and the cat looked very very similar to D so we can assume it was this cat we had two phone calls from in this area.
He'll be out there it's just where?

------------------------------------------------------

It's times like this you met so many lovely people out in your neighbourhood. We found out there are two lovely ladies around the road that have just been door knocking for us in their immediate area and they are keeping an eye out for a ginger they have seen in their yard. They did think it had a blue collar so it may not be D but you never know. They are so nice they are neighbours to each other about 1/2 way between our house and where he was found the last time. So it's fantastic to have them helping us they also call for him every night. That is so nice.

In another street there is a lady putting out food for the ginger kitty she saw on her bottom door step.

And we have had many calls from our flyer drops but as you all know there are lots of ginger cats around.

Just letting you know we are working on it and we thank you all for all your purrs keeping him safe until we get him home again.

Thanks again purrs Sam, Raza and Balty(D's sister, fur mum and the old guy, We can't believe he's still with us and going strong. Next week will be his 21st birthday it's a shame we won't have time to celebrate it :()]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Hi it's Karyn here..... Oh dear what can I say?... I'm sorry but I lost your furry friend D again. I was just thinking a few days before he was chased off, that he's been home for 3 years. Little did I know it was all going to change, again!

I know many of you may say that we are irresponsible pet owners. I think that was what was written. I can understand the way you feel. But I still stand by that it's not common. D I admit we felt was a flight risk.
He was the only one other than Balty that we insisted had to be inside at night. We always asked each other where he was if he wasn't in sight. Normally he was always there, usually asking to go outside or be wanting to come in 2 minutes later he loved attention.

He's a big softy and loves all living things. He would never raise his paw to any of the cats even though they would always hiss at him. It seemed to be a standard thing they would walk past, hiss and he wouldn't even look up, and it was almost as if it was a tortie greeting.

If they got stroppy he would just roll over. He is a big boy and is probably quite scary to other cats. I hope this helps him.
He will be out there we just need to find him. He would have just been scared out of his territory. I think his main danger will be the road. Luckily he is older now so hopefully a little wiser.

We have many lovely folks out there looking for him. We have had a great response to our flyers and we have gone to see many ginger cats. Because here in NZ most cats are indoor / outdoor felines there are many out there. Luckily its winter and most are not silly and are curled up inside where it's warmer.

That should help D. We went to the SPCA again today, it's about a 45 minute drive away. They have his chip info, but it doesn't hurt to keep checking in on them. It is the only day off this week for me so things have been a little hectic. We get up early and walk the streets at 5am (when it is quiet). It was funny the other morning we walked down a particular street and then at 7am we got a call from a lady that she thought she saw him.
This sounded positive, as we dropped that flyer off a few days ago and it seemed to coincidental that she thinks she saw him hours after us been in the area. I'm wondering if we flushed him out a little. We called and called from the back yard of the lady next doors house. Where the orange cat was seen. Everyone was been helpful and allowed us to walk over their properties. I thought I could hear a meow then no more. Was it him? It sounded close. But I couldn't get him to meow anymore.

It's only been two weeks and He is a bit of a scaredy cat so I'm not surprised if he is very weary with me.
After talking to the lady she thought he had a blue collar on. D's collar is red :(
Also we went around to the houses on the other side and spoke to the dairy owner he said there was an orange cat that's been hanging around for the last couple of months, again :(
D’s only been gone for 2 weeks.
This guy may not be our D but we went back at 11am, 8pm and again today. But nothing yet.

This is not the only call out we have had, we usually look until we see the orange cat the people saw. Some have had white paws and some have been medium haired. There's lots of cats when you look.
Many houses have a cat or two and with most been indoor outdoor means a lot of cats. The only thing that makes the cat population look low is.... it's cold out there.

We had a high temperture of 12 Deg C today. I know that's not cold for many Catster cats but we are having some of our coldest days on record, well since 1939 that is. In the next day or so that cool front will pass over and things will warm up again.

So you see it's not too bad out there for a double coated cat (the double coat is from his Exotic Persian mother).
I belong to another Missing cat group and other person just found their cat after 7.5 months. Fantastic news. I do believe they are out there I’m sure we’ll see D again it’s just when. Luckily he is chipped this time and his collar is on good.
I have now purchased a tracking collar to put on him so when we get him back he’ll be easier to find.

I want to thank everyone for all the good wishes. Catster is an amazing caring community. It makes you proud to be a member. Thank you to you all for making it all happen as it is everyone here that makes Catster Catster.

I have been reading all the post, candles, and gifts and been scribbling then down for days, so I’ll say our thank yous on D’s behalf here, if that’s ok with you all.
My good friend Alfie and his lovely meowmy Eva do so much for us, all the lovely messages you have all sent, all the diaries, I apologise if I miss any. If I have we may not be connected as friends as I do try to read the diaries when I can, If so can I have a friends request please, so I can keep in touch. 
Thank you Sonny Bono for rounding up the Angels and writing in your diary Also Kally Kat with the cute praying kitty and your diary too.

It’s nice of you to have them burning for him.
I just want to thank you all for your help and I want you to know we will look for him until we find him. It may take a little while but I’m sure we’ll get him back. I think he’ll still be a little timid at the moment as it’s only been a few weeks there’s lots of food and water out there and there are very few predators, Maybe dogs if he goes into their yards, but all in all he should be ok. Fingers crossed.
You know we love our cats to bits, they are not pets but good friends and members of our family. Even Balty whose been getting most of the attention lately. We will do our best by them to best of our ability.
I can’t believe none of the cats are showing signs of missing him this time, little rat-bags. If anything Sam seems happy Grrrr. That’s the tortie top cat coming out I think. She never accepted D back the last time. They used to be so close when they were kittens. D would try to get close to her, but she would get stroppy hiss and take off. I just put it down to her tortie tude. He would just ignore her. LOL he was good at that.
Yes me miss him and will do everything we can to get him back.]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ You wouldn't believe it they are predicting MORE tornados today.
The human has to go to work so paws crossed it doesn't get the Mall again. I think the last one did enough damage. They are very rare here. So it is a shock for us to see them. We are still listed as away on our profile because we cannot guarantee we can come to Catster and we would hate it if we miss something important and upset anyone if we didn’t respond.
The human is still very busy sorting everything out. She has to go to Australia to bring her fathers ashes back to New Zealand. She has a conference she has to attend over there too, also sorting out the mess at work. Only half the Mall is open, I’m guessing her work will be quiet today because of the tornado warnings. Also there’s still stuff to sort out with the Earthquake. I can’t believe we are involved in both unusual occurrences. They are miles apart and I mean miles ones in the South Island and ones in the North. But yes we are involved in both.
MOL I think the human should buy a Lotto ticket her luck has to change soon. She always believes things go in waves you have to have the bad to get the good. We are very lucky things haven’t been that bad for us. We have only had minor damage in all the problems, nothing yet that we can’t handle. It’s just a pain and it’ll hopefully make us stronger.

We hope all is good with everyone and we also want to thank everyone for all the lovely gifts you have given us. Our pages look pawsome with them.]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ It sure is a strange year.
You know about Christchurch and all the earthquakes, well they are still happening and the human's have a house there. Well it seems fine with only minor damage like the hot water cylinder needs securing and there are cracks in the walls and floors. So they consider themselves lucky.
Last week the human female’s father died. He wasn't well and it's not really a huge shock but still not nice.
THEN.... THEN today......
I cannot believe it. There was a tornado that ripped through our area. WHAT!!!!!!! We don't get tornados. But..... There sure was one.
It went right through the Mall were the human has a shop. Everyone in their shop was fine, but there have been some deaths and the Mall is a mess apparently the roof has been taken off.
I can't believe it. Raza and Balty were at the vets this morning for urine test and Raza had to stay the day. The tornado went very close to the vets which are just up the road from our house.
When's it going to stop is that our 3?

We purr for all the others that are having problems and I hope it all works out for you.
Purrs for now, purrs Mr D, Raza, Balty and Sam.

What next???????

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Hi I know we have been quiet lately. Not our fault, I'm blaming the humans. They reckon they have been busy, Huh!!!... did they not remember we (us felines) are their number 1 priory.
Anyway Today is red day and they are trying to raise money for Christchurch. If you didn't know about it, Christchurch is a city in New Zealand and it recently suffered an earthquake. We are doing our best to get it back on it's feet ASAP.
We (our family) live miles away from it, so we are ok. But many of our friends weren't so lucky though many are in good spirits. Who can't be with so many trying to help. Isn't the world a nice place :)

Do you want a laugh. This is on the humans trade me site (I hope you are able to see it) It's like e-bay.
Many people and I know it's world wide, are helping to rebuild Christchurch. Here's one of the auctions...

Today the humans are dressing up their shops in Red with Red dot specials to raise money for Christchurch to help rebuild it after the earthquake. Paws crossed it goes well

Check out what the human got for Xmas, She's wanted Homers book for ages and now she finally has it. Then there is this other strange thing. I think I’ll give one of them a test drive to see if it works.

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Meow... thank you so much for voting for me. I'm in shock that I'm there in the finals. There were some pawsome photos. I kind of feel a little guilty too. As we can't win any prizes I hope we haven't taken that opportunity away from some other deserving kitty.

We have entered before in the last two years but never ever got into the finals. It was always fun just to show off our photos. So to have two in this years finals is such a shock.

So I just wanted to say a huge thank you and big whisker kisses from me purrs Mr D. I'm jumping around telling everyone here. I'm top I'm top, top of the family. Hee hee.

One thing I noticed for this year. There wasn't that much advertising and we didn't get cats entering that just joined Catster just to enter the competition then never post again. Also previous years we would have to be aware of fake cats (stolen photos). I noticed there wasn't really any of that this year. Which was great, BUT the numbers were down in the entries. The human almost managed to vote for every cat, I think there were almost 2900 entries. It was a bummer she had a lot of work and spent most of that time out of the country (unable to get to a catputer). We are just going to have to be a little more prepared for next year.

My family and I, would to take the opportunity to conCATulate all the finalist.

There were some amazing photos there and we have enjoyed looking over them all and voting. I would like to congratulate those that entered too. As you all had pawsome shots which all equalled precious memories. Each having a story to tell. We totally enjoyed looking over them all and reading all the stories. Laughing at many of the captions, they were precious and really added to the photos. That’s maybe why it took us days and days to get through the votes we did do.

I wish every the best and good luck to all the finalist.]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ I just read an article on trying to stop cats spraying around the house.

In that article it had a list of things to have in your kits for when things like that happen.

If you are like us, occasionally the humans goes around on her hands and knees smelling the room (this is if she thinks she gets a hint of a pee smell)
Furmum Raza has been known to put her sent around the place especially at this time of the year (it's spring here and the Toms are roaming)

Anyway one of the things in the kit is........

A BLACK LIGHT

Well I never. The human said she should have known that, as she has seen it on TV a few times. Apparently the black light will show up urine (even old ones)

Well the humans off today to buy one, she said it may be handy just to have in the house. It'll save all those hours on the floor sniffing everywhere.
Or she follows us around to see if WE sniff any area, as we are pretty good at spotting things like that.
It doesn't happen that often, but it does happen at least once a year. Hee hee this year Raza got the humans trousers that were hanging on the door. Long story on that one, your have to see Sam's diary for that story. Hee hee.]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ The human has started packing for our holiday. Mind you I wouldn't call it a holiday, I don't want to go anywhere.

Boy!!! the cattery is going to wonder what they got themselves in for.

The cages are out, mainly because we have all been going to the vet clinic a few times in the last month.

But there is now a list of things we get to take. Raza will get to take her favourite toy, the large cat tube. There are lots and lots of small toys especially Sam's favourite bunch. Hee hee, she has lots.

I don't really have any favourite toys. I have taken to a wooden cat house, so that will go with me. It's suppose to be big enough for 2 cats but the humans put a large bed in it and it just fits me purrrrfectly.

Sam has a soft cat house, and we all take turns on the deck chair with the boogie mat on it. So they will go with us too.

Balty has to have his heated bed (they have a plug in the cage to plug it in) and the humans would like our drinking fountain to go too, but they didn't seem to be too keen on that. We'll see paws crossed we get to have that too.

About Balty's bed they did say they will need to turn it off at night, but they will crank up the heating for him as we are in the heated area of the Cattery. We have a door in our cage with a cat door so we can go out to our own little wire enclosed deck, so we can still get fresh air.

The humans are trying to tell us we'll have fun ...... Hummm I don't think so..... who’s she kidding.

You should see the humans list...
The cat gym
maybe a wooden ramp (so Balty can at least get up to the first large wide shelf ( it runs the length to the cage))
5x cat beds (one each and one spare to rotate to)
2 cat houses
Maybe a small cat tree
Cat tube (probably the large one (we have 2))
small toys
Felliway diffuser
rescue remedy (the feline one)
the Catit drinking fountain
4 x Cats
cages
Food as they will all get Hills S/D and they will also get Canin urinary S/O so they have variety.
Maybe Marmite if Sam's not drinking enough.
Fresh catnip, maybe take a hanging plant for the outdoor enclosure. For fresh catnip.

How can we tell her she doesn’t need all of this stuff, she just needs to stay home and have another staycation. You wouldn’t believe it, I think the cattery stay will cost more than the humans trip itself.

BUT…. us cats do come first, and that’s the way it should be…... Us first.]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Today we lost a dear friend in our Auckland Zoo.

Kashin the elephant was given her wings today. Many many New Zealanders will know Kashin.
She was always a must to see and when the human was young she would take children for rides. The human has also photographed her (like many did when they went to the Zoo). She was amazing, it was almost as if she saw the camera and posed for the photograph.
They locked eyes, then the human took the shots, she couldn't help but bow her head to say thanks. She really felt drawn to her.
Kashin touched so many. She will be sadly missed.
The humans are 45 and 46 and it was like they grew up, always hearing about her. They owned elephant piggy banks with Kashins name on it, when they were children. Then again when the bank celebrated 50years of being open (last year) they re-released the Kashin piggy bank. The human managed to get a couple to give to her niece and nephew, like it was when they were kids. So Kashin has always been in the hearts of many NZders since she graced us with her presence 36 years ago.
She was always a draw card at the Auckland Zoo. We have a Video (that the human took) of her last year surrounded by Children. The humans Brother, Niece and Nephew were right by her trunk sitting on the ground.
She was such a gentle giant, may she rest in peace.
Now the human is kicking herself for not going to the ‘Have breakfast with the Elephants’ It was a couple of months ago. It was for raising money, but the interaction with the animals is so worth it.

She did ‘Take the cheetahs for a morning walk before the Zoo opens’. She said that was fun. Hee hee, one time when the human wasn’t looking, she was sitting on a seat and the Cheetah was one the table, the Cheetah sniffed the humans’ head. Apparently she jumped a mile high. Again she kicked herself she would have loved a photo of herself that close to the puddy tat.
When she came home I sniffed her all over, I sensed she had been patting another fur, how dare she. I fluffed up and said I’ll take on the other fur…. until she told me how big they were, then I decided, may be another day.
Purrs Mr D and many purrs for Kashin

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ I want to thank everyone that read and answered the humans request. She received some fantastic information. I think she said she wanted to say ....ok he's at this point, and be ready for it. Than go, Oh no!! what does this mean. It's all helping us a lot, so thank you, to all the lovely furs out there.

I told the human she can share my diary, but she thought it was better if she deleted her request as Catster is really only for us cats and not for her. She has save all the good info and advice onto the catputer and forward a lot of it on to her fathers partner. So thanks again to all that p-mailed her and left diary comments, we have all of it saved.

We hope every fur is having a pawsome day, most of you will be seeing your summer. I hope it's not too hot for you. We will see our shortest day on the 21 June, then it gets colder but at least the day gets longer yippeee!!! I can't wait. I think the human now likes the cold, she's kind of just figured it out.... Hee hee, we now stay inside more, and we are easier to get in at night. Hee hee.

We do think Catsters a fantastic place, there are sooooooo many kind and friendly furs here, with an amazing amount of knowledge to share. Where else can you meet so many nice cat/people.

Lots of purrs headbutts and whisker kisses from us

I only peed and pooed once, so I'm glad she got the hint and I didn't have to do it again.
I'm still on the S/D biscuits and will need to go back to the clinic for a follow up. So paws crossed all is well. I'm not to keen on the clinic and I howl all the way there.

I have to say........
Catsters fantastic... it's great we can all pull all the info we have and learn from each other. Not to mention all the pawsome friends you met on the way.

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Well.... that was interesting. The human didn't think I would have crystals. It just goes to show, how the smallest detail can show the problem. All I did was poo on the humans bed and then pee on it while she was in it. Well ya know when the humans don't listen you really have to figure out a way to shout at them don't you.

She didn't think I would have them. Yes… I was on the run for 6 months eating what ever I could find. But I've been home now for 7 months and back on the premium food. So she thought no problems.

This is the first time I have ever done this to the human. I really am a good boy. So this is why she wanted to get me checked out just to rule out a UTI problem. Well just as well....

They say that you can get them from stress too. I didn't know that. But I have been a little stressed lately and refusing to leave the upstairs area.

It all started when the neighbours moved out last week, and left Benjie or is that Bengie behind. Anyway he's one nasty little dude at the best of times.
The humans felt sorry for him so while the house seemed empty the humans went over and gave him some food.

Well.... he seemed grateful, purred and rubbed against the humans and he received pats from both of them. But when the human male got up to leave Bengie lashed out and bit/scratched the humans leg so hard it actually left a bruise, as well as a deep gash.
I'm not too surprise at his behaviour as the two young boys that did live in the house there were a bit rough.

The humans think it was Bengie that chased me away the first time so with his behaviour now, I'm hiding from him. I'm such a softy and wouldn't fight at all.

Anyway the human thought I just peed because I was too scared to go outside to the litter box.

I was really quiet when I did it. I did not meow howl or utter a word and I didn't pee a little, it WAS A LOT hee hee. You should have seen it. AND THEN…. I proceeded to cover it up with that ol’ burying action.
Also the human said she didn't notice any blood so thought it was just a case of needing a littler box upstairs till bengie behaved and I got my nerves back.

So she was really shocked when the vet said I had crystals in my urine. So now I'm home with meds. I have to take it twice a day and I'm on these awful biscuits they call S/D. How do they expect any decent fur to eat that sort of rubbish I don't know AND........... What's worse I'm on a restricted diet WHAT........ you've got to be kidding. ????

Do I look Fat??????? Hummmmm ok a little bit, the human was hoping my eating would slow down as I eat everything in sight after I got home from been on the run. She was hoping I would get used to the food been there and I won't have to panic that I'd miss out. She worries Sam doesn't get enough and has to hand feed her.

Well I'm really glad the human took me in to be checked on the safe side as she told me stories from when she worked in the vet clinics. There has been some patients that have had to have a catheter up their urethra. Sounds painful so I'm glad it didn't get to that stage. Though I may have given the human more hints by then.

It just goes to show it's best to check even the smallest thing.

Also we did have a fountain but the human dropped something on it and it broke. She had been looking at getting us another one for a while. As we are back to just using water bowls, but after today’s scare (yes it is still today for us, this time zone thing is strange) Anyway after the crystal scare today she went straight out and brought another fountain.

Man was I scared of it . The human put me near it, and I jumped back. She then went to pat me and I leaped a mile high. Yes I still a scaredy cat.

She's doing all the things she would have advised others to do and she's always willing to except any advice from others. When cats are concerned you never know enough. So thanks everyone that has helped me. And Thanks Catster for having me in the days Diary line up purrs]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ I'm still at the vet clinic. So????...... I refused to give them any urine. What's the big deal.
It's MY urine and I'll choose where and when I pee thank you very much.
Besides...I thought you didn't like it when I peed anyway. I saw the hooman washing soooo many things in the last few days. She has given me a litter box now, so I assume I can to use it.
Hummmmmm.

Well it's official ... I'm a big boy, I weighed in at 7.86 kgs. Maybe not as big as some overseas cats get, but big by our standards. Some big cats aren't allowed into our country as they will destroy too much of our wild life. Well that's what the big people that guard our boarders say.

I don't think I'm big?????? do you?????I thought I cut a mean figure with the right love handles that a furry feline should have. I just hope they don't tell the human to put me on a diet
*D quickly puts his paws over his eyes*

Well it looks like I'm here in the jail at the vet clinic till tomorrow. We'll have to wait and see what they say then. * D pouts*

By the way there was one cat that may have hit the nail on the head with my peeing problem. It was Edgar

They remember me talking about Bengie (our furry neighbour) and how his humans left him behind to live with the new owners. I think there's something in that too. We'll wrote more tomorrow I think the computer needs time out as it's getting very slow and not wanting to do some things. <content:encoded><![CDATA[ It's funny, as I write this there is an ad to the the right of this page for Dr. Elsey's Urine removal. I'm not sure how good it is , has anyone tried it?

The human has received some really good advice from a number of cat’s and I just want to say....Thank you so much, the human is still washing and soaking things.

Here's one of the p-mails I received from Pete's meowmy

<a id="img8683865246" + class=bodyTextRev target=site href="http://www.catster.com/cats/504493" onmouseover="document.getElementById('img8683865246').innerHTML = String.fromCharCode(60) + 'img src=http://www.catster.com/cats/504493' + String.fromCharCode(62) + String.fromCharCode(60) + 'BR/' + String.fromCharCode(62) + 'Petes page'">Pete's page</a>

I thought is was so good I thought others might need the advice too and Petes meowmy was happy for me to post it in my dairy

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi Mr. D,
Sounds like you've already gotten lots of advice, but maybe not ours. My mom's a pro at this, Fred sprayed for 13 years, John peed the bed when he was mad at her, and Bear when he hurt. Here's what she knows...

1. Nothing at all works on getting rid of urine smells except Anti-Icky Poo. Washing helps but us kitties can still smell. Use hot water. You have to get the smell gone. We've tried EVERYTHING else. You can order it online, that's the only way to get it.

2. The bed is a big deal, especially with mom there. It's most definitely a a message that something is wrong. John only used the bed when he was very mad at mom. Bear when he was hurting when he was sick.

3. Feliway plugins work better than the spray. Combined with Anti-Icky Poo to keep smells gone mom was able to keep Fred's spraying way down. He sprayed from anxiety and Feliway is good for that. You need one for each important room. We had one in the bedroom and one in the living room. They are expensive but really work. None of us like the spray.

4. Buy a bedwetter pad for the bed until you fix this. Saves the mattress. Mom switched to just blankies no quilts while she was figuring out Bear's reason for doing it.

5. Definitely go to the vet and rule out bad things.

6. Since Mr. D is using a box upstairs someone might be guarding the box downstairs. Mom learned that we needed lots of boxes to make sure Fred could always get to one without feeling stressed. She also learned that different litters helped. Turned out that Fred really liked FelinePine litter and would use the box with that but not clay. We have clay scoopable, pine, wheat, and world's best. 4 downstairs in the basement, and 2 in the bedroom for the four of us, but now the three of us. We like that.

7. Not your issue, but since we're sharing all our secrets, we use tall litter boxes, the kind you buy at a discount store for storing things like Christmas ornaments. That helps Sid (& Fred) who like to stand and go, and helps keep litter in the box when Sarah has a scratching party. Bear got a lower one just for him in his blind room as special treatment when he was sick. But before he was blind he could hop into the tall box, even at 16. Some recommend cutting down a side for an infirm kitty, but you're not.

That's all we know, I hope it helps!

It's 5;50 am at the moment and the human has to drop the human male at the airport which is about an hour to an hour and a half away (peak hour traffic when she returns) So she'll get the appointment when she returns.

It's good to just rule out a UTI problem then we can focus on what's really wrong. I've been using my upstairs litter box hee hee. Even Sam has made her way up there to use it. Long story there but will full you in later.

Have to run.

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Thank you everyone that has read my diary and responded with some helpful info. We sure appreciate it. Sometimes it's really good to talk about these things even the embarrassing ones too.

The humans have washed sooooo many things, the bedding takes ages as it all needs to be done separately. The human female went to work today but I got my way, and they left a litter box upstairs for me. Yipppeee!!!!
The bedspread is still soaking in the bathtub. Hee hee they have used so many chemicals to get rid of the pee. I'm not sure why, I thought it smelt pretty good. We sure can make a stink when we need to.

The human is thinking I'm scared of something, as I'm still not leaving the upstairs. There's something out there and I'm having trouble telling the human what it is.

A couple of nights ago we had a nasty storm and it howled all night. She was wondering if that triggered something. As I was outside a few days ago with no problems I even saw a mouse/rat. I’m not sure who caught it, but it was great to great a photo near it. Hee hee the human didn't even put me there, I just saw the camera in her hand and just went over to pose.

I heard her talking to the other human that they may put SedaPet in my water upstairs. Apparently the humans use it, they call their one ‘Rescue Remedy’, but their one has alcohol in it and ours doesn't.

She was also thinking of using that felliway stuff. Well we’ll see how we go. I'm just happy, I now have a litter box. I used it as soon as it was put down. Hee hee it's got to have MY smell in it.

Well it’s bed time the humans have made the bed again with fresh bedding and there appears to be no lingering smell so they are happy. Me…. well I might just have to sneak in there and do it again. Hee hee.

I love sleeping on the bed with them, it’s seems to be where I feel safe and when the human moves I’m all over her. So I’m happy there. Soooooo….. they just don’t understand why I would pee in my own bed.

They are watching me very closely, she is not afraid to take us to the vet at any time. We have all been to one of the vet clinics at 1am in the morning. I went with my sister Sam and my furmum (we all went together, furmum was sick and we were really young). And Balty has also been in a couple of times in the early hours of the morning.
We also have three other vet clinics we visit, depending on what needs to be done.
The human used to work in a couple of them and visited the other for training when she was a nurse. So that is why she is not shy to take us in.
But we still make mistakes, and all info is good info thanks everyone for your help. We appreciate it and we hope it’s all sorted soon.
The human wants to take me in to one of the clinics, on her next day off, so well see how that goes. Just to rule out any other problems
I’m fed on a range of the best food we can get in NZ. We don’t have the flash stuff you guys get, but all our food is brought at the vets, or in the pet shops. Not the supermarkets stuff, as we have seen what happens to kitties fed solely on supermarket biscuits.
(That comes from the human working in the clinics)

Anyway must dash
Thanks again everyfur for your help. I know the human is looking forward to sorting it all out.
Purrs for now purrs Mr D]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ The human is not happy with me at all. She said she is going to take me to the vets on her next day off work.

Meeeoooowwww!!!!!! I'm not keen on that.

I don't understand why... all I did was pee on her bed. Ok Ok so she was also in it at the time .......still asleep.

So what? I was trying to get her attention. She didn't even hear a peep from me other than that warm wet feeling trickling down her body.

Hee hee, I tell ya, it got her up very fast. She threw off the covers so fast, but it was too late, it was already soaking into the mattress.

Luckily they have one of those wet vaccuum cleaners, so what's her problem? Maybe it was the fact I also pooed on the bed last night too. She was shocked then, and they quickly changed and washed everything.

This is definately out of character for me, so she is asking me what is wrong. For the last few days I won't go outside. I'm living upstairs in my own little world.

She asked me if there is something outside that I'm scared of. Funny Sam and Raza and Balty are fine out there.

So why not me?????????

It was a really large poo and when I peed this morning I did not cry out or the human would have heard me. She woke up to me pawing at the bed so to cover it up and then felt the wetness and it wasn't small, it was a huge amout of pee. So why??????????? By they way, the humans found the poo hidden in the bed as if I had covered it.]]></content:encoded>

		<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Dear Dogs and Cats:

The dishes with the paw prints are yours and contain your food. The other dishes are mine and contain my food. Placing a paw print in the middle of my plate and food does not stake a claim for it becoming your food and dish, nor do I find that aesthetically pleasing in the slightest.

The stairway was not designed by NASCAR and is not a racetrack. Racing me to the bottom is not the object. Tripping me doesn't help because I fall faster than you can run.

I cannot buy anything bigger than a king sized bed. I am very sorry about this. Do not think I will continue sleeping on the couch to ensure your comfort, however.. Dogs and cats can actually curl up in a ball when they sleep. It is not necessary to sleep perpendicular to each other, stretched out to the fullest extent possible. I also know that sticking tails straight out and having tongues hanging out on the other end to maximize space is nothing but sarcasm.

For the last time, there is no secret exit from the bathroom! If, by some miracle, I beat you there and manage to get the door shut, it is not necessary to claw, whine, meow, try to turn the knob or get your paw under the edge in an attempt to open the door. I must exit through the same door I entered. Also, I have been using the bathroom for years - canine/feline attendance is not required.

The proper order for kissing is: Kiss me first, then go smell the other dog or cat's butt. I cannot stress this enough.

Finally, in fairness, dear pets, I have posted the following message on the front door:

To all non-pet owners who visit and like to complain about our pets:

        (1) They live here. You don't.

        (2) If you don't want their hair on your clothes, stay off the furniture. That's why they call it 'fur'-niture.

        (3) I like my pets a lot better than I like most people.

        (4) To you, they are animals. To me, they are adopted sons/daughters who are short, hairy, walk on all fours and don't speak clearly.

Remember, dogs and cats are better than kids because they:

        (1) Eat less,

        (2) Don't ask for money all the time,

        (3) Are easier to train,

        (4) Normally come when called,

        (5) Never ask to drive the car,

        (6) Don't smoke or drink,

        (7) Don't want to wear your clothes,

        (8) Don't have to buy the latest fashions,

        (9) Don't need a gazillion dollars for college and

        (10) If they get pregnant, you can sell their children ...]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Thank you, and thank you for a great article I love the emergency info very very handy. I have put a link of that page on to the purrs and woofs groups links. I thought the extra stuff that was added was fantastic as well as the extra links for the UK lost website, the other found stories and the links to the first aid kits. I never thought of a pet first aid kit, but it makes sense.

I was very lucky I just got my tie in time, the human only ordered it the other day. Samoa’s meowmy makes them

I thought I looked very smart and now ready for Valentines day,and everyone checking out my page. Meooowww!!!

I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone that helped me and the human while I was gone. You all were amazing in your support and all the info you gave me, it was all followed up. I just feel very bad the human didn't have the time to get around everyone to thank them. She tried and she had pages and pages of cats and dogs to thank. We had messages in groups, forum post, p-mails our shout box (which disappeared : < ), lots and lots of rosettes, and our kissing booth. I still get lots and lots of kisses with lovely messages attached. BOY!!!!! am I one lucky kitty cat.

If it wasn't for you guys and all your purring I don't think I would have found my way home. So purr thanks back to you all.

Even one special kitty named Alfie

formed a group purring for me to come home. Amazing and that group is still there today one year on purring for other precious lost fur-riends.

The group has a lot of links to other sites and many stories in the threads, feel free to pop over and check them all out. Hopefully no fur will need them but it's good to know they are there if you do.

Also thanks to Catster for a great site, and all the purring they did too. We were honoured to be given dairy of the day a few times, cat of the day AND we even got cat of the week. We were so spoilt.

So thank you all again it’s pawsome to have friends like you

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Would you believe it, It was my birthday the other day. Which marks 1 year since I went missing and now it's 6 months that I've been back home.
I've been really good and spend most of the day inside. Though I have been a little naughty. I love the game of ...you can't catch me... around 10pm. It's still really hot out side and that is the time I want to be out there (since it’s just gone dark then, (summer-time)).
It's fun, the human wants me in. Hee hee, she plays heaps of games with me trying to catch me. Once I'm in I stay in till morning when the humans wakes up and then opens the doors again. We do have a cat door so I can go out if I want too, but I do behave and stay in.

She doesn't like me out at night. She trusts Sam (my sister) and Raza (my fur mum). Furmum, actually often stays outside through the night, she loves the cooler temperatures. Luckily we live a reasonable distance from the road, we don't go up there as it's kind of outside our territory. Which pleases the human.

Furmum loves to defend our property and is always on guard. She's tiny all of 3kg, but she is one feisty momma to foreign cats. She has this double coat since she is an Exotic Persian, so I think it helps protect her from any claws. She’s fearless and amazing to watch in action. Her paws fly everywhere trying to look as big as possible. I'd hate to be on the receiving end of her claws. Hee hee...You'd have to ask the neighbours cat Benjie, he knows.

It's only myself and Balty that have to come in. Balty because he's old and the humans doesn't trust he'll be safe outside. In case Raza (the defender) isn't close by he'll be a target. Balty in his older days use love to defend his territory, and the human worries that he still thinks he can. She isn't risking it, so Balty is a must to get inside too.
Raza and Sam use the cat door with no problems and Sam's usually in by midnight, but it is often on their terms.

We have our humans trained well, and we do everything on our terms. There are heaps and heaps of toys and cat trees inside food and water on tap. But... it's nothing compared to having the wind blow in your fur and feel the warmth of the summer sun on your coat. Having real life moving toys to play with. Yesterday I brought the human a butterfly, I was so proud of my catch, I then let it go, to fly away to be caught again another day. Life is a fun just one big game. The human wishes she could live life like that.

I better run again, I hope you all are having a pawsome time and I hope you are all safe and warm purrs Mr D]]></content:encoded>

It brought tears to my hoomans eyes because it was like seeing us meeting again. The difference is I (Mr D) saw the hooman first and was meowing like crazy. <description>Thank you everyone. Your support has been amazing.

I&acirc;m still having trouble believing it myself ...</description>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Thank you everyone. Your support has been amazing.

I’m still having trouble believing it myself, and as many of you have said MOL hee hee, you're right, I can't stop looking at him.

I had been so busy over the last few weeks on the D hunt, and I did find it exhausting, but worth it in the end :D

I think it was the highs when people say they have found him, you race over and it's not him. I so wish I could give the reward money to everyone that was kind enough to ring me, especially those that trapped cats in their home so I could see them. Unfortunately they had to put up with a packet of biscuits.

I had been receiving so many calls since I had all the publicity
saying I've lost him and what I was doing to find him. Every sighting I went out to see, and many were miles away.

This lady rang to say she's just on the way out but she can see a
ginger cat across the road from their house. Their house was about a mile from our house.
When I got there he was sitting on the pathway to a large character style home. I called him and he wouldn't shut up meowing and meowing.
He just trotted up to me I quickly put down treats while I did a quick inspection to see if it was him.

AND....... IT WAS........ yippeee!!!

So I scooped him up so fast and just put him into my car.

That was so I could knock on the door of the house.
I just wanted to make sure I wasn't taking someone else’s newly found pet (my lost one) The lady there said there has been a ginger cat living and meowing under her house but she said she hasn't been feeding him.
Here in New Zealand most cats are indoor / outdoor cats and a lot get fed outside. So there is usually food around.
When he got home the thing he went mostly for, was the water bowl, the food one secondly.
He's totally at home and acts like he never left. The others seem to have a problem.
Sam his sister I think was at the bottom of the pecking order, has now grown up a little ( from 2 to 2.5 years of age)
I think she's enjoyed most of the attention while Darwin's been away.
When I first brought him home all looked very good. No hissing, just all comfortably hanging out, or sniffing each other .
It’s just now, about 4 hours after his return it started (just a little).
Now it's the second day. We had a great night last night all was quiet until I got up and the hissing started.
So I think it's just a pecking order thing, Darwin was and still is a big boy.
Luckily Darwin (As far as I know it) hasn't hissed at all, and has behaved perfectly.
He lays low with his head so flat on the ground paws extended also flat on the ground to show no threat at all. He's being great I just wish the others (his mother and sister Sam) weren't so worried.
They were such a close family, I'm sure things will settle soon it hasn't been 2 full days yet.
So it's still early days and they aren't that bad as Sam went up to him hiss at him then went into the other room and played with one of her toys in the tube (which is very noisy to play with) so...
I'm sure things will be back to normal in no time. Yay!!!!! I still can't believe it.
6 months seems to be a long time.
Thanks again everyone
Lots of hugs to all
Karyn]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Wow!!! I've only been home for 16 hours, and I feel at home already, but the other furs don't seem to be sure of me yet. The hooman isn't letting me out : ( but then I've been good and not asked, I now have this strange thing they call a litter box in the hooman litter box room. I suppose it'll have to do.
The hooman would like to thank you all so much for caring and everything. We are going to try and put something together soon. The hooman has only had 3 hours sleep last night, and she still needs to go out and see the people that rang about Mr D and give them their reward. Then she needs to go around all the vet clinics, dairy's etc and thank everyone. The hooman needs to buy heaps of biscuits for this. She spent most of last night responding to all the people that had phoned to say they have seen him to let them know we now have him. As many were still trying to trap ginger cats for us. Also there were a heap of e-mails to respond to as well, Like e-mailing the TV station, the newspaper, we still have to do the magazine, and all the people that e-mailed us photos of cats that they have seen in their areas. It's amazing how much there is to do. We have read many many messages in the groups and it has brought a big smile to our faces This is such good news and I'm really happy I can give it. I have to run again, I do hope to be able to respond to the p-mails, and rosettes/gifts soon. Thank you, from our hearts, again BIGG HUGGS

<description>I can't believe I'm on the diary list today Yay!!!
Ooooops... I haven't written much lately as you ...</description>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ I can't believe I'm on the diary list today Yay!!!
Ooooops... I haven't written much lately as you probably know the hooman has been looking for me.
I've been gone for just over 6 months now and the hooman is making one last big effort to find me. Then it may have to be wait and see if I find my own way home.
She is sure I'm out there, she lives with the idea that if we haven't found a body I must be ok. Here in New Zealand many cats get rehomed. We get chased off or just get lost, and then… we go around the houses looking for ones with food outside. Then if we are lucky we are invited into the home. The hooman has heard that time and time again. She engraves pet disks for people. They often say they found the cat or it was a stray, or.. even.. it just turned up on the doorstep. It's just so common.
SO....
She came up with a crazy plan
This is all after doing all the usual things like

1. Door knocking

2. flyers in mail boxes/ bus stops/ supermarkets/ gas stations etc.

3. Also going to the vet clinics in the area talking to them and leaving a flyer

4. She hired a cat trap and set it up on a property up the road were he apparently was seen.

5. She even brought a game camera and set that up by a food station on the deck so she can see who comes by

6. Many Catster cats gave her heaps of tips, like look on the roof, in drains, up trees, in other peoples garages. All were great and she checked them all

7.One cat (Alfie) set up a group to help find me. They posted heaps of tips there, along with other web sites to help anyone with a missing cat / dog

8. The hooman even put a large ad in the local paper

The list goes on and on and she still wasn't getting any closer to finding me.

SO......This is what lead her to this latest crazy idea.

She decided to dress up in a cat costume and stand out on the road during peak hour traffic with a large sign saying MISSING with a photo of me.

Well she definitely got the attention of a few people now.

MOL, Alfie all the way from Canada contacted our TV station here in New Zealand and gave them the heads up on what the hooman was doing. They then rang the hooman and asked " Is this true" and then ask the hooman to go to the station to have an interview so they could put it on TV.

If you want to see the crazy plan, there is video on my page. If it's not there, here's a link to it

http://www.catster.com/video/482329/the_hunt_for_mr_d

There is another video also on my page that Balty has produced

http://www.catster.com/video/482329/looking_for_mr_d

It has some old footage of me just a few months before I went missing if you want to see how lovable I am Hee hee.
It also has some fooage of the hooman on OUR road. Our house is down a long drive way so we don't make it up that far it's kind of outside our territory.

Good news today when the hooman was outside on the road some people from the local newspaper came around and took some photos and asked some questions. So that will be good.
The hooman is quite shy but if this is going to find me she is all for it.

I want to thanks everyone for all your help, suggestions, rosettes, comments on our videos and good wishes, the hooman is trying to go around thanking everyone, but is having trouble keeping up I'm so sorry if she misses anyone. She is finding all all very useful and a great comfort so thank you Purrs and whiskerkisses to you all.

It is now late and the hooman needs to go to bed so she's ready to go out on the road again tomorrow morning, first light. Argh.. They say it's going to rain, this should be interesting.]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Alfie contacted our TV station, all the way from Canada. They rang the hooman and asked if they could film it. MOL the hooman was all in a fluster and ended up saying all the wrong things. She had planed to thank everyone and also mention what he looked like, because we get a lot of calls for spotty ginger's or ones white paws. People here have been so nice and very helpful, one person rang from way down the country saying she may have him. but her kitty is very small possibly only 6 months of age where D is HUGE. We are still on the hunt and the hooman will go out on the road most morning (weather permitting, if it's too windy she may not be able to hold the sign. Or too wet, she'll get the suit wet. It's not ours so we want to look after it)

Paws crossed this all works.

Thanks Alfie and Thanks TVNZ for letting us show this on D's page.]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ I hope this all works.
Oppps!... it looks like I've not been putting all the info in D's diary Sorry about that.

Here's some earlier post that I posted in Alfie group for the missing.

------------------------------------------------------------
Subject: Yay, my strange idea's falling into place. I think I have the go ahead.

Sent: Tue Jun 17

Message:
I've just heard from the council and I have the go ahead yay.
It's to do with my leave from work. I have three weeks off.
I didn't want to jinx anything, but so far everything is falling into place.

My plan is...Since the ads in the paper cost quite a bit and goes to houses so far away. I was thinking I need something more obvious close to home since they say cats don't travel far.

I have rung around and found a cat costume here's a link if you want to see it.

http://www.desiree.co.nz/animals.php

The one I'm after is the puss n boots one. It's the closest I could find to D. They only hire out for 3 days at a time but when I asked them if I could have it for 3 weeks and explained why, they agreed and gave me a reasonable price. (I'm still to go and book it)

Anyway I have contacted a large printing firm
about printing a sign that is 1 metre x 800 mm
with D's photo and the info about him missing.

I have just heard from the council and they said I can put the sign out on my fence and the cat costume is ok, yay!!! He wished me luck.

Now what I intend to do is go out on the main road at peak traffic time in the cat costume holding on to the sign asking if anyone has seen him.

MOL I told you it was crazy.
I hope to do that in my days off which should be in about 3 weeks. I'm still to hear back from the printers as they have sent D's photos to their graphics department. They said they would e-mail me the proof. So it is still early days but it all looks good so far.
NOW... you really could call me the crazy cat lady MOL.
-Karyn

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Last weeks post...

The hooman has a day off tomorrow (our Monday and Tue) this week. She just found out her leave starts on the 9th July, so she can go and book the cat suit.
She's going to go and try it on and see if there is anything else we need to make or get for it. Apparently the Puss n boots suit is a L to XL. MOL the hooman is short and needs to go on a diet MOL.
The sign has been confirmed, and should be ready for pick-up late tues afternoon.
MOL this will be interesting. Also Sam may have an interview with Loki on the Critter News so you can see it all in action.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hooman Karyn here.....
I thank everyone that is wishing me luck. LMOL. I think I'm going to need it, as my nerves are already rearing their ugly heads I'm not great in front of crowds. MOL.

BUT it's for D and if we find him it's all worth it.

This all starts in 3 days time. I hope to get a video so you can see it (if you wish).

Tuesday will be the day I 'll go and get the suit, and do any fininshing touches (with the sign and the suit) and hopefully work on the video. Wed. all go, fingers and paws crossed.]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ The hooman has come up with a very strange idea. She still has to work out if it is possible, but will let you know how she goes. We should know in a couple of days.
As you know she was thinking about putting same smaller ads. in the local paper.
The only thing that stopped her before is that some one else was running an ad for a similar looking kitty.
Theirs was described as a ginger boy 18 months of age with big round eyes. They were in another area, but people do ring from all over. So the hooman rang them, and asked if they get a call and it's not their cat can they let us know. Because it could be our D, and we would do the same for them.
They haven't run any ads for awhile now, so the hooman was thinking of doing it. Though I don't think many people are reading that part of the paper. It's a small bit right at the back.
So the hooman came up with another idea. Paws crossed it works.

One thing in New Zealand, people do just acquire cats. It is very common here. Because almost all cats are indoors / outdoors it's easy for someone to just start feeding them. Many many houses here have cats.
I read a piece in a magazine. that said New Zealand has the highest cat to house ratio in the world. I'm not sure if that is true, but we were always brought up with...
"A HOUSE IS NOT A HOME, UNLESS IT HAS A CAT".
Most of our friends had cats.
NZ is now getting a lot more people from other countries, so the ratio is probably changing now. Luckily, we are an animal loving nation and have strict rules on animal welfare. Which I'm so pleased about. BUT you can't trust everyone.
The hooman still has the camera out on the deck and it appears the birds are a main feature. MOL, along with 3 other local cats and of course the fur gang here. We also have our paws crossed he finds his own way home. But I don't think he'll travel far from a known supply of food and safety. That's if he has it.

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ We have the camera out on the deck and we are finding a few new kitty’s have been eating the food.
Ones we have never seen around here before. They are only coming out at night, There is a big grey and white pawed one and I think the other one is all white. These photos were taken at night so it's hard to work out their colours. I know the grey one because I heard it on the deck at 1 am and went to investigate. We have also checked to see if any of these kitty's have been reported as missing. But no, they must just be locals who have worked out we have food on our deck.
I'm kind of not expecting to see D anymore. I'm sure someone has him. But until we hear someone say they have seen him, we'll keep the camera on the deck. It's very interesting to see who's coming by.
MOL during the day it's mostly Raza and Balty. There are a few birds been photographed too. It's funny they have taken a liking to the dry cat biscuits. I suppose they have a way of softening them. I've seen birds do it before, dunking the food in the water. MOL they are not silly.

If the guy up the road says he's seen him again well take the camera to his house, but since the chainsaws, there has been no more sightings. The people on the other side of the road that thought they had seen him, well I’m now thinking it may have been the cat that the hooman male went to see in the same area. The hoomans have walked that street a few times looking for him since then. They also did that right at the beginning (in Jan - Feb). That was until there were the sightings on our side of the road near a reserve. They sounded so positive we concentrated our search there. Now we are all over the place again, looking everywhere. I might have to start running several small adds in the local paper and see if that turns up anything.
We only did one big one before and only got 3 calls all miles away. So maybe something new is required.
We are still on our hunt. I'm now dreaming of finding him curled up in a child’s bed. Making it hard to get him back. I hope he'll have photos of his adventure, and a huge story to tell.
Take care all and I hope all the lost pets are safe and well and return home soon. I see there is a new one to purr for, Milo.
See ya all later, we hope you all have a pawsome day purrs the furgang.]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ As you know, the hooman went around all the vet clinics with biscuits the other day. I thought that was a really good excercise. They are all really positive about looking for D for us. Apparently his flyer is quite the talking point and I'm hearing a lot of the comments. Some have said they have seen him in certain areas. Unfortunately they have not rung us, the nurse remembered where. So I'll go around those areas and see if I see a cat matching his discription. We are still on the look out.

We received the camera back again, Yay!!!.
So we have it out on the deck where the food is, again.

The guy up the road has not seen D again since the clearing of the section next door to him. So the cat he's seeing must have moved on. : (

We are doing everything we can to find him. He's got to be somewhere, someone WILL have him. We just need to find out who. I can understand them not wanting to give him up, he is really a very nice cat. Bad luck if they want to take him to the vets. Hee hee we have them all covered in the area and everyone is looking out for him. I'll have to keep up my biscuit run every now and then.
Purrs to everyone and I hope all the other lost pets find their way home]]></content:encoded>

		<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Sam here,
I just thought I'd post in D's diary for him. I still miss my brother and am now turning to the hooman for comfort. Hee hee, she has now gotten used to me waking her up at 4 in the morning. 'PAT TIME ' I announce on my arrival. Usually I'm just at her feet, but I seem to have to head-butt her to wake her up. Maybe my little shrills purrs and squeaks aren't loud enough. I thought I was been kind, since when I meow, I HOWL and she says I wake up the whole neighbourhood.
Oooops!!! this diary's entries suppose to be on D not me, Hee hee. The hooman just told me I have my own to write in. ^.^

OK this is what's been happening in the last few days.....

The hooman said she felt like she was at a dead end. There were no more leads to follow and no more sighting. What now....

All of a sudden she received a phone call very early on Monday morning from a neighbour saying we think we have your little man here. Yay!!!
Needless to say we were there in a flash.
He WAS cute and definitely little, as this little guy was only 5 months of age. Unless D found the recipe to eternal youth and he ran through a chimney ( this little guy was black) it wasn't him.

BUT....

That lead us on another search.
We found out the person that had found the kitty feed the local strays 3 days a week. With all the enquiries we have done, we have never found this person before. It seems they don't advertise it. Anyway we quickly gave this lovely lady (that cares for strays) D's flyer. It has about 5 different photos of him on it, and she in turn gave us another person who feeds cats at 1am. This person lives just a little more up the road from our place. So off Karyn went with more flyers around where this person lives and surrounding houses. The person wasn't home but she managed to speak to a few neighbours.
Now, she said she was careful in what she said, as the person feeding the cats apparently gets a little flak about it, so she didn't want to upset anything.
She also went around a different area, somewhere where we didn't think he would have gone. We have since received a few call from that area already.

One saying they have been feeding a ginger stray for awhile now, come and see him. Once again the hooman was there in a flash, but this dude was a lot older, longer nose and a shorter tail. D's is long and very thick, some of it is from his double coat.

The other said they had seen a Garfield a few weeks ago in their back yard and the kind person said they would ask around and even put out food for us. It's amazing how kind people can be.

While putting the flyers in the letter-boxes one person said their neighbour had recently adopted a local stray. So I we need to find that person and see if it is D.

Also we received a e-mail from the place we are getting the camera from to say it is on it's way. Yay!!! things are moving again.

We must be able to find him, I look forward to curling up with my brother again. But he's going to be so disappointed the hoomans sold his favourite car. We used to love lying on top of the soft-top, so he's going to be gutted to find it’s gone. BUT... the hooman did promise me she’ll make us a hammock to make up for it. I hope it feels the same, I wonder when we'll get it. I have some ideas for a design but I not sure how to tell her. Anyway we'll work on that.
Well I must go hooman has work and I need another cat nap
Purrs everyone

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ But there is good news with a number of friends with missing cats on another website called 'missing cat assistance’ it’s an international site. There was another person from the UK, looking for their cat. Their search efforts mirrored mine, and Poe had been missing for a similar period.
Anyway she found a person that said "Poe was eating food that was left on her deck", so she raced around with all of Poes bedding and things. This house was some distance away. Anyway long story short, Poe at 6 am just waltzed in her door at home looking strong and healthy, and meowing as if nothing had happened. Even after being out on the run for so long. So there is still hope.
It was also noted some cats do travel long distances and apparently in an oval shape. Some-one else commented that they have 2 cameras set up half a mile in different directions from each other and they have seen the same cat turning up to each cat buffet they have set up.
So they can travel, I'm still waiting for our camera to turn up again. Paws crossed it's earlier than the 10th June, as predicted, as they are on back order.]]></content:encoded>

I hear Catster cats are doing everything they can to help them. They are such a great group and I wish we had a way to help too. Anyone know, please Meow out we would love to help.

BUT.... it does make us all think what will happen to our pets if the hoomans do pass on. Hazel Lucy has come up with a great idea here's a link to it.

Laurel was only 48 and the pets had nowhere to go.

Here's Tesss page

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Human here again........... About D, I'm sure he's around somewhere. I travel the road daily and have not seen a body. Hopefully he's a little streetwise. Our house is a few houses off the mail road, and the main road is extremely busy, hopefully noisy enough to keep him away. He doesn't usually travel that far when he was at home, as it seemed to be outside his territory. We have lots of bush around, so he could be hiding. I kind of feel awful when I left him outside that night. I was finding it hard getting the cats in because it was so warm and there were heaps of bugs to chase. I left him out 2 nights before and he hated it so I thought he'd come in. They have a cat door but he didn't use it that often.
He's was 2 years old and cats are often left outside at night so I thought he'd be ok. He's such a sensitive wee soul, and was becoming a little scaredy cat of strange things so I don't know if it was a phase he was going through. They really are like children MOL, he was, I suppose in his teenage years. Here in New Zealand I was used to the fact cats live indoors and outdoors. It wasn't till I came onto Catster did I find so many people locking their cats up. MOL I found it really strange but excepted it, as I can understand they have a lot of predators around and also a few more diseases to catch. (We don't have Rabies here).
Since been on Catster I've met another NZ kitty that is locked up. (They are also on Catster). But I think 90 percent of NZ cats have access to outdoors. I agree accidents do happen but they also happen to Children, should you lock a child up? I think cats do learn to watch the road when they are brought up to respect it.

Sorry, I think I'm feeling guilty. I also think some may blame me for letting the cats out. But really it's not practical to lock them up here. We don't have air-conditioning in our house. So in the middle of the summer it can get very hot in the house. When home we tend to leave the doors wide open, especially in summer. But also in winter. So the only way I could cage these guys is by building a huge wire cage that will cover most of the property. Now MOL, that would look strange and I think the neighbours might complain. MOL.
I hope not too many are blaming me. but here the cats do have the freedom we have. They don't usually leave home. I always thought Mr D would have been with us for at least another 15 or more years. I'm sure he's around somewhere, I just have to find him. We have another 3 cats as you know Sam D's sister, Raza D's Mother and an older cat Balty he's almost 18 years old he loves to go outside still, but he is becoming very frail in his old age. Raza likes to stay out at night strangly enough, as I thought her breed said they are more a indoor cat. But not long after getting her in at night I hear her leaving, out the cat door after everyones gone to bed. Sam, D and Balty tended to stay in through the nights. I'm sure someone will know where he is it's just been able to find him. I'm really hoping 'That's life' can help us. They are a magazine that publishes true stories. Hopefully someone reading it may know where he is.
We have our paw and fingers crossed here.]]></content:encoded>

This tribute is to let you know that the candles we light will stay bright in our hearts until you return home safely to your loving family.

Your sweet face reflects in each of our hearts daily and we cry tears of sorrow for we know not where you are.

We know that the power of God is watching over you and guiding you to the purpose of your existence.

Did he send you to a new family to bring joy to their home or are you helping the less fortunate kitties find their way?

We do know you have brought together many who have become friends from continents afar. Love is universal and unconditional.

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ I'm thinking of spending my money on a wildlife camera next. There have been a few that have suggested it .
Has any-one used one before?
Or can anyone recommend any?
I thought it may help me figure out of he is around local, Just incase he is now just scared to show his face. He was a scaredy cat to strangers but superfriendly when he figured out who you were. I'm thinking of having it on our deck to find out whos eating the food.
 LMOL probably more hedgehogs .
And at the house up the road, were they think they have seen him.
I do thank everyone for their suggestions, as it is really helpful and I have been posting all the info recieved in Alfies group ( purrs and woofs for the missing) I hope it'll help any other missing kitty's or doggies.

I wish we had the cameras here in New Zealand. : ( As I'd just pop down the road to check them all out, but I'm yet to find any. So I'll have to order on line sight unseen just going off the info in the adds. That's why I thought I'd ask you all, if anyone has had experience in any.

Thank you all for reading my diary and thank you Catster for posting it and for having a great website. I think there are some fantastic people/cats/dogs here. Very caring and supportive. What a great community, Purrs to you all.]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Hi the hooman here again.
Still no Mr D, to write in his diary. We are still looking for him. I have just come back from checking the trap. It's in the back yard of a house up the road. The people there are known to feed the stray cats, and others have reported seeing him there.
I hope they are right, I'm still yet to see him :(
I've seen A ginger cat some have thought was him, but it wasn't. This
other ginger boy is too light, and spotty on the back where as Darwin has a
darker orange marble look over his back. I have had the trap out for
2 weeks now, and unfortunately all I'm catching now (in the last 3 nights) are hedgehogs. SO .........
LOL does anyone have any tricks on getting a hedgehog out of the
trap. LOL I tell you it isn't easy. They roll up in this little ball
right in the middle of the trap and refuse to budge. Next time I'll remember to take my gardening gloves, but I still need long arms. LOL.

Last week I also went around all the vet clinics again with new
flyers and packet of biscuits to say thanks for looking out for him.
I also went to clinics I've never been to before, miles away. Because
I was thinking he's been gone for almost 3 months now. He so cute and
lovable someone's bound to want to keep him, or give him away to
someone else. LOL, well..umm well that's what I think.
So now I'm hoping some-one might take him in for a vet check, and
then see the poster. I have my fingers crossed, I still haven't given
up.
I have had some more flyers printed up, so I'm going to do another
mail drop in another area. I suppose it's like fishing, see if I get
any bites. Then I search the areas for the cats that were seen.

Some-one reported, the other day on the local lost and found website
that their cat just walked in the door after 3 and a half months, so
not to give up. I haven't got to that point yet, so I'll keep trying.
I also have food out on the deck every night, much delight of the
local bird population and the neigbours cat who are still getting a daily feed.
All in all I just wanted to let you know we haven't given up yet.
We really want him home and don't understand why he's been gone for so long.
Well I must go, take care all

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ The hooman is writing this again....

It's raining at the moment and Sam seems beside herself.
I don't know why, but she is been super friendly and appears lost, it maybe because she can't go out side, and she wants me to change the weather. LMOL. The doors are open to the deck, she meowed at the front door (which is almost in the same room). I think she was hoping the weather was better out that door. LMOL She was a little miffed it was raining there too, So she is now going around meowing and doing lots of little naughty things like jumping on the table etc.
These cats seem to get very wound up when they can't go outside, I don't know how you guys cope. I mean she can go outside but she will only get wet, and she doesn't appear to want that.
I'm guessing Darwin has found a new home. We will keep looking and hope someone lets us know where he is. I'm hoping with this weather it might finally drive him home, that's if he is in the bush. It's only being raining for the last two days, so it's still early days. It would be really nice if Sam and D do have a conection between them. Maybe she is sensing his uneasiness and that's why she's all over the place at the moment.
Who knows. We still have the trap out, and the only cat we are catching is, the cat that lives at the house. Maybe we'll have to change the spot where we have it.
I'm off again soon to check the trap. We have it covered in plastic and a towel over the top, so if we do catch anything at least it'll stay dry.]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Here's some of my posts from the Purrs And Woofs for the missing group..
Sorry hooman Karyns writing this, all felines are sleeping.

We finally managed to get a trap....
NOW...
I don't now what to do.... I have the trap but the weather has finally turned (On the very day I picked up the trap). I have to be able to monitor it, and I need to make sure the cats don't get left in the direct sunlight or rain, (when stuck in the trap). So it is going to be very tricky. If I have a trap out there, I'll need to check it myself, I can't rely on someone else. You know how it is. I can't have any cat in distress or left in the cage for too long, and I need to be able to have access to these peoples properties. Raza had to make a trip to the vet (sniffly nose again) So with that, and getting the trap, which was an hours drive away ( there and back, out of peak traffic hours) My day was almost written off.
So I have asked for 2 weeks leave from work. Then I can dedicate my time to the trap. D has not been seen again, I mean the cat they think is D.

This trapping is all new to me. I don't know why, but I'm a little scared putting it out. But I know I have to. I mean I'll find out if he is in the area and if the cat that they are seeing is in fact D.

Do any of you have experience in trapping?
Does anyone have any advice?
How often do I visit the trap, ( I understand I'll have to view it from a distance or I'll scare the cats away).
This trap is wire cage, about a metre long and a foot wide.
Any advice would be greatfully appreciated.
Thanks
-Karyn and the rest of the fur gang.

HERE'S SOME OF THE REPLIES..... (They have been sortened)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Karyn,

In all likelihood when you put the trap out, it will catch some other critters besides Mr. D. You want to put very smelly moist cat food inside. It won't hurt to have any cats or other critters inside for a few hours.

Is the neighbor's property totally fenced in or can animals get in and out OK?

For practice (until the neighbor allows you on the property) you might want to put the trap out near your home and see what happens. Be sure you know how to set it correctly and how to release it when opening as well.

Hope this helps.

Mama worked for & then with a humane society. Successful trapping is often done and it's not a bad thing. Kitties get scared but it doesn't really hurt them.

The more you can get the trap to blend into the surroundings, the better. Also, test the trap several times before placing it. Make sure the trip trigger is working properly. Also helps to lubricate the hinges & trip trigger so they're quick & not too noisy.

Hi Karyn,
I did some online research and found a site with detailed instructions about trapping:
http://sonic.net/~pauline/trap.html
Everything I read suggests that it doesn't always go as fast as you wish it would. Please don't give up. This is the best, perhaps the only way to get MrD back
Hang in there.

BACK TO MY NEXT POST

Well I got home really late from work but determined to set this trap. I read over the website. Boy that's good info. I wouldn't have thought of using chalk on cardboard to keep away ants. We have a big ant problem here. I also don't have the cardboard. I had a good play with the trap, it's exactly like the one in the website and a little noisey. So I'll try and sort that out, I still need the chalk , I was just going to put the food in the trap as it is on the deck (The food bowl is in a second larger bowl full of water so the ant's don't get it. But if I need a trail into the cage I'll need that chalk. I'll let you know if it worked. I'm probably going to be home late again tonight from work but will hopefully have all the stuff I need. Also while I was playing with the trap I discovered one thing .... It smells... I did not notice it. Raza came in and told me in her own cat way. She sniffed it over pretty good with her mouth open after every wiff. So that's another thing I have to do....... Clean it .

Does anyone know the best way to do this. Do I just use straight water? Or do I need to use dishwashing detergent?. Will the detergent smell too?

I thought when I got this, I'd just shove it out LOML Now that I have it, I'm been very careful LMOL I suppose this is a big thing and I don't want to stuff it up.

I still haven't heard from anyone, if they have seen D again, I might try and door knock again and let everyone know about the trap aswell as prey them for info on D. If they have seen him, what direction was he heading or coming from, etc.

Interesting enough it was a cold night last night probably all cats where tucked up in bed, as the food on the deck wasn't even been touched, not even a nibble.

I'll be off to work again soon, and I'll get more of my supplies ie, the chalk and cardboard (I should be able to get that from the supermarket). Also I better clean the cage.
I don't want to stuff this up. I think if D had been gone only a few days I would had been very quick at putting the trap out, but it's now been over 2 months. So I feel I have the time now and should make sure I have everything right. I also need to find out where the best place to put the trap, Where the most sightings have been.

I now have a direction to follow which is good, I can't wait till I get the OK to have the leave from work, as that will really get the ball rolling.
It would be even better if I can trap D before the leave, and then have the 2 weeks at home with him. So I can help him to settle back in.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
More great reponses for dealing with the trap.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Karyn,

The best way to get the smells and any infectious bacteria or viruses off the trap would be to spray the entire trap surface with a 10% bleach to water solution. Let it sit for about 15 minutes then spray good with water to get the bleach off the trap (Bleach will burn animals.).

Be sure and put smelly moist food inside for attracting animals.

Good luck!!

Purrs and big meows,
Amber Jewel

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And my reply

Excellent thanks. LMOL I thought this was going to be easy. This is all great advice thanks. We'll get there. I'll get cleaning, good point about infectious bacteria. Again I never thought of that. Funny I've worked as a vet nurse and have completely over looked the simple things, like contamination. I think I'm just a little wrapped up and lost in this new contraption.
-Karyn

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Feliway for the trap. The scent makes kitties comfortable. Only thing is that you may ending up trapping more cats than you want, but it could also help to attract D and lure him in. Other species can not detect the scent of the Feliway, so no worries with attracting other types of animals into the trap.

Love,
Ele'
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have posted this so we can all benefit from this very handy info. Thanks everyone for your advice, I'll take all information anyone has to offer, it's all good.

Also Someone local said... when they were in Australia they used to use butter around the cat food to stop the ants from getting to it.]]></content:encoded>

Karyn here: I wish I'd seen D durning all those sightings, only my husband has seen him. I went out again today when someone said they have seen him. Unfortunately it was another kitty. I'm beginning to wonder if he is in that area at all. My husband said he was pretty sure he did see D, but it was so brief he may have been mistaken. I hope not.
We are still going to put out the trap and fingers crossed we catch him. The weather here is still really good it hasn't rained for weeks and weeks if not months and it is still really warm. LOML when you want something it never happens.

This one is about an hours drive away, so it'll have to be on my day off. I had another phone call this morning about a cat that looked like D, but when I got there at 7:30 am (Sunday morning) It wasn't D the stripes on the cats back looked different. <content:encoded><![CDATA[ This time the tide was out around the reserve. So instead of walking through everyones properties she walked around the reserve.
It wasn't until she was half way around and walking through thick bush and long grasses. Did it occur to her, you couldn't do this in many countries. There are so many things we take for granted. We have no Alligators.
The only thing she could hurt, was her pride if she slipped over in the mud LOL. Anyway she walked right around the area where she thought D might have been, calling for him all the way. She was hoping he might follow her. She didn't see him at all, but found heaps and heaps of golf balls.
Shame we don't play with golf balls they are a little heavy for our paws. I think I prefer the ping pong ball, we have heaps of those in our house. She also went around all the old run down little makeshift boat sheds. Anyway no D, and it is now morning and the food bowl on the deck still has food in it. So I don't think he followed her home.
LMOL the hoomans throat is a little sore today from calling for D so much. Hee hee, now we might get some peace and quiet today, now that she can't talk very well.
: (
It's almost coming up 2 months since he's been gone. I'm not sure if he's going to come back now. He's only 2 years old and 2 months is a long time for someone that age.
But,well keep trying, we are trying the animal communicators at the moment paws crossed with that too.]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ We had another phone call the other day but it turned out to be Mitilda. I'm happy to know everyone is still looking out for him, but he hasn't been seen for awhile. I guessing the section clearing scared him off again.
I think I may have to wait for him to come back this way. : (
I'm still putting food outside, and in some way if he is a scaredy cat now, It'll work in our favour, if he choose to come home himself. Meaning if he comes home he won't run off again, well hope not.

We finally had a really hot, great summer and we have not been able to enjoy it, because we have been looking for D. LMOL.
We can't wait till winter for it to get colder so he'll decide it's better at home. What a bummer but I'd prefer to have D home than Summer.
It's still hot here, I (Karyn) finished work last night at 9pm. When I walked out of the mall, it was actually hotter outside still than inside. So that may give you an idea of how hot it is here. It is also very safe for D no wild animals live in this country. Unless you call a hedgehog a threat LMOL.

Thanks everyone for still thinking of D. It is a comfort that we know he is wandering around and in good health. He's still up to date with all his vaccs, but he could do with another flea treatment. Over all he should survive quiet well, until he decides to come home. Before it was the thought, what if..... what if he's trapped, what if he's starving, what if he's badly hurt. At least we know he's ok and there are a number of people looking out for him.
It may just be a waiting game. It's nice to have an idea where he is, and there is enough food around for him.]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ She went to the area, that there has been sightings.....
.. So dissapointing one of the sections had be gutted, all the bushes had gone. No sign of D and I'm assuming he would have been scared off with the noise and all the action with the clearing.
LMOL It's hard to write this, Sams insisting on playing fetch. She brought in this long shoe lace, I don't know where she found it. But it's really hard to throw. I wish she brought something that was easier.
Anyway back to D, Sam's given up after the 9th throw, and has gone for water. Anyway The hooman went around all the sections calling for him again and then went down to the reserve.
She set up Sams towel ( the one she has been sleeping on lately) and a food bowl, then sat down and read a mag. At the end of each page she would stop and call for him again, then walk around all the properties. She did this for 4 hours, unfortunately she didn't see him at all. Only one cat ( a black and white one) came up and snacked from the food bowl. We now need to find out where he is, so we can organize a trap. There has been no sightings for the last week and that's since one of the sections got cleared. I hope he hasn't moved on again. The bush around here is really thick and very hard to walk through, also the reserve is very steep, so it makes it a little hard to walk through. We just have our paws crossed he's seen again.]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Some of the cats suggested putting smelly things out that remind him of home. Great Idea.
We haven't heard anymore news from those houses. So we rang the guy that's feeding the cats, and asked if he minded if we brought around some of D's food and a towel that Sam has been sleeping on lately. I hope that works.
I know it's not far away, but it is heavy bush between here and there and D had never travelled far from home before. So maybe he is just staying close to what he knows at the moment.
At least that place is a far way from the road too. Our paws are crossed he stays safe.
We still have food outside for him if he finds his way back, and forgets there is a cat door. I still call him at night from the house hoping my voice isn't muffled out by the bush.
There is also a reserve that runs along the back of all the properties and that appears to be where he is, but a few (4 to 5 ) houses along
Hope tomorrow brings better news.]]></content:encoded>

		<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Guess what,...

You know how we have been back to those houses up the road a few times (with the guy that feeds the cats).
I don't know if he (D) heard our voices, when we were there before.
BUT ...
We received more phone calls again about him, from 2 of those houses. So the hooman male went around again, AND.... he thinks he saw him this time YAY!!!!
Apparently he looks like he's lost his collar and a tiny bit of weight, but not that much. Over all looks good, but he dissapeared into the bush again.
We now have contact with the people feeding the cats, yay, and they are now being alot more friendly and helpful.
They are keeping an eye out for us, and have all our contact numbers.
Paws crossed nothing happens to him while we wait to catch him.
Everyone said a trap would be a bad idea, when I suggested it. There are too many cats in such a small area. LMOL It's almost as bad as putting a trap in a cattery, there's that many. LMOL.

Now I can't wait to get him. I think this is a double edged sword.

Happy we may have seen him, but worried if something happens to him while we wait.

Since we have been to the houses so many times sitting in different peoples backyards calling him for ages. We really have to wait. I'll keep calling him late a night from home.
I just got to hope the wind is blowing in that direction.

Maybe he is making his way back now, now that more people are reporting him being so close.

Our paws are crossed and thanks everyone for watching over him.]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ We went over there again, and I don't think it's him. : ( We managed to get a look at the cat in the daylight . I only saw the head and tail, I admit he looks very similar to D.but I don't think it's him.

We looked as much as we can at him, I didn't want to scare him. He had his little head poking up from the bushes, he could have been the father. I've seen another cat around our house a couple of years ago, that looks exactly like D, and at the time I wondered if he fathered them. I moved and the cat turned and went under the fence. I couldn't tell if that cat was a Tom or not, D has been neutered.
I also asked the lady in the house there, if her ginger cat was inside with her, and she said yes. So this guy was definitely the second cat.

I think I kept wishing it was him saying he'll be skinnier, he might have lost a bit of his colour because he's not eating right etc. But my husband who is taller and could see more of him said it wasn't him. Even taking into consideration he's been on the run for almost 6 weeks.

So we are back to handing out more flyers. I'm still hoping D has his name tag on.
This other cat didn't have one. I would have thought also if it was D you may see his little mind ticking over with maybe a hint of recognition, but this cat sat there with a very blank expression on it's face.

There was another phone call from down in the Domain and this ginger cat had a red collar and blue tag like D so we just have to find that cat.

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ The hoomans have been handing out more flyers and we have recieved a few calls from various places.

3 of the calls were from a similar place ( a couple of houses up the road). They say he has been surfacing just after dark and a few people have seen him.

2 nights ago we recieved a call around 10 pm where a cat set off a security light and the lady said it looked like him.
We waited for awhile and called him, the hooman male thought he may have seen the cat but couldn't work out if it was Darwin. He looked down to open a packet of treats to give to the cat. When he looked up the cat was gone.

We knew there was another ginger cat that lived in the house over the back, so it may have been him. So we went home.

Then again a lovely lady came knocking on our door at 8pm last night, saying the cat is on her neigbours lawn, we went over, but the cat had disappeared again.

I think we have to be careful as many of you mentioned we have to be a little quieter and slower in our movements so we don't scare him.
Since he's now been gone for 6 weeks. He always was scared of strangers, so it may take him awhile to work out it's us.

NOW the best news was, they also mentioned the lady with the ginger female (next door to their house) mentioned she saw both (ginger) cats at the same time.

Yay!!! So It may just be him. The nice lady rang again saying there was a cat fight last night and the ginger cat was back there again at around 10 pm.

All 3 of these houses ( that have phoned us) all back on to each other, and almost back on to the person who is known to feed the cats in the area.
So it all sound very very possible.

I stood on our deck again last night and called him at around 10pm, and again I got up a 2am and called him.

I then left the doors open on the deck and stayed up for the next 2 hours hoping he might find his way over here.
No such luck.
I don't know if it's because there is an empty section between those houses and ours, to why he's not coming over here.
I'm not sure but it sounds like he's really close. I'm really hoping it's him.

He may just be finding comfort in the area he now knows, and finding it hard to move too far from there. As his boundries used to be only 1 to 1 and a half houses from ours max.]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ For any kitty's reading my diary for the first time. I went missing a few weeks ago. (Actually I'm still on the run). Heaps of lovely kitty and doggies have p-mailed me with lovely stories about hope and stories about themselves or other kittys or doggies they know that have been on the run.

The first post is a bunch great stories of hope.
The second post is a list of ideas on how to find a lost pet.

I just wanted to share all the great stories. I am going to post the list in the group PURRS AND WOOFS FOR THE MISSING... (admined by Alfie and Bitu)It'll be in the threads for other lost pets to read at a later stage.

There is so much more to write as my hooman is still to go through all the info that has been posted in the other groups. As well as all the forums and threads. These stories are just the ones that were p-mail to me. Then after that, she will like to list it all in a handly short check list.

I hope this helps any other lost kitties or doggies. When finished the list will be huge.]]></content:encoded>

There was one cat on Catsters, a while back, that was missing for over a month and they suspected their neighbor had poisoned it but it came back fine. Thin, but fine.
Our cat Penny (when I was a kid) went missing for a few days and also came back fine but a bit thinner. We figure she got into the railway building (mousing) and locked in for the weekend.
My sister has a cat that often goes missing and shows up at the pound requiring a hefty fee to free him.
I hope Mr. D gets out of whatever he has gotten himself into, and gets home!
Getting the word out real quick is exactly what to do.

One of our friends cats disappeared for 5 days last year...we are pretty sure she got locked in someones garage or shed. It is pretty hot here in summer so a lot of people leave their garage doors open six inches or so during the day and we think she went in and got stuck there, she was thin but fine.

I had trouble believing that he was alive and well and would come home but turns out cats are much more resourceful than you think and can survive on their own. I knew that Jack wanted to come home and as soon as he could, he did. - don't give up on him.

Many years ago after our mum had moved to the Caribbean and left her two cats with her sister, one of them went missing. Her sister was beside herself with worry, then would you believe it, after six long weeks, Sophie turned up (on Christmas Day of all days) just as if nothing had happened.

On the flip side of this story, we are currently caring for a little lost cat we have named Fifi. She has been with us since early December and mum has tried everything to locate her real owner (she's wearing a collar but no tag). After weeks of newspaper and online ads, knocking on doors and putting flyers around the neighborhood, we still have had no luck. Our vet thinks she has simply been dumped, or abandoned as the result of a house move.

I'm telling you these stories for two reasons: 1) don't give up hope! If Sophie could make it back to a house she barely knew after six weeks on the prowl, so can Mr. D;
2) Should someone have picked up Mr. D having found him "lost", they are likely taking as good care of him as we are trying to with Fifi (who is sitting on our coffee table and watching mum as she writes this!)

Want to send you the link to my doggie sister's Diary. There are entries through out, beginning in April 2007. A fairly good, quick summary is entered on Nov. 25, 2007, titled ' Ever so thankful fur Dogster love and the Power of the Paw". It is a "happy ending" story. I'll be purrring fur you and hoping to see a "happy ending" story in your Diary, too!.

Mr. D....Leo is a large ill-tempered 18 lb. stray cat. He is your classic alley cat. He has gone away for as long as six weeks and always comes back looking fine. He does not look thin and his fur looks great when he showed back up. He spends more time grooming himself than his sister Venus...MOL! He can feed himself anytime with what he can catch. I am sure that Mr. D is fine and will come back. Leo is one tough cat! He was run over by a car three years ago and made it home with a broken leg, ribs and cut up. I had the vet fix him up with a cast and he is fine now. Since he got ran over he stays very close to home now

We don't know Mr. D purrsonally, but we feel very sad that he has gone missing so long. His family should not give up hope; Mom says that my late brother Shortstop went missing for 17 days back in 1985...Mom did everything to try and find him: She ran an ad in the newspaper, put flyers up all over the neighborhood and in everyone's mailboxes, and made daily trips to the animal shelter, all to no avail. Then after 17 days, he just showed up meowing at the door one night, and they had eleven more good years together before he went to the Bridge. Mom never did know where Shorty was all that time, and he never told her, but she always suspected that someone just took a liking to him and tried to keep him, but he got out and came home when he had the chance.

Boys our age tends to take walkabouts for some days even if we're neutered like I am.
Hope you turn your nose home soon even if its summer down under. I came home just a few days before the first snowfall, or good timing as I call it

In 1998 I moved from the San Francisco Bay Area to Modesto (2 hours away by car( with my Beaubeau
6 months later I moved to Upstate New York and didnt want to take Beaubeau on a long plane ride without making sure I was going to stay,
2 weeks later I received a phone call from the friend watching him and she told me he had run away.
This was NOT like Beau as he ALWAYS came home for dinner
I came home a week later brokenhearted from my NY experience and still NO BEAU!
A week and a half later after running all over the neighborhood several times a day calling for my Beau HE CAME HOME AT DINNER TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He was meowing so loud!!!! It was the sound of my boy wanting to let me know IM HOME MOM!!!!!
I ran to the door and flung it open with the kids that I was nannying for in tow, and there he was:
covered in fleas and wrapped in packing tape around neck and legs and body and tail...A MESS but SO HAPPY TO SEE ME and I HIM!
I laughed and cried so hard and so did Beau, even through the bath (which he hated)
MY BOY CAME HOME!!!!!!!!!!
I was never so happy for an early Christmas present( it was Dec 14th) in all my days!
It still makes me cry in joy that he came home to stay with me another 5 years and cry that he went through so much to find his way home to be with me!

Purdie &#9829;
I have two sories to relate.
The first one is about myself. Three years ago November gone I went missing. Mum did everything that she should & could do to try & find me, but no luck, she didn't ever give up. Then, mid evening nineteen days later she looked out of the patio doors and there I was, sitting in the sun room waiting to come in.
Boy were we both happy.
I was fit & well but I had lost some weight.
Mum thinks that I got shut in a house that was being done up close by us. The people working on it had gone away, she thinks that I got out as soon as they came back.
Since then I've never been far from the garden or the field out the back.

The second story is about my cousin Sprocket.
Four years ago in October he had his lunchtime snack, went out and just dissapeared. Again, all was done that could possibly be done to find him & again no luck, untill one afternoon a month later his mum looked out of the kitchen window, to see Sprocket sitting on the step, grooming as if nothing at all had happened.
He too was fit & well, just lost weight.

I don't know if this will help, but recently a friend of my sister's lost their cat. They called & called & he didn't show. He never really left the yard & he was afraid of strangers. He climbed in an open window in the neighbors basement. He was there for 3 days before the neighbor went downstairs & heard his meows. It might be worthwhile to knock on the doors of the neighbors & have them check their homes.

There was one time Mommy could not find me too. I did not come back from outside. You know where I was? Our neighbor's son had opened their garage door at night, and I was curious and went inside. Then he closed the door with me inside.

The next day, our neighbor lady was helping Mommy look for me, and she opened up her garage. Then I scooted right out! I hope your mom has nice neighbors that will check their sheds, garages, etc.

One time when one of my kitties got outside, a friend took his box of food and shook it and his treat can, and he came right over the fence! He had been hiding out in the neighbor's back yard! And another time, the other neighbor called & asked if we were missing a cat. He had found ours in his ATTIC!!! We never found out how in the world he got there!!!Cats are good at hiding out...are any of your neighbors away? Could he have gotten into one of their garages and they aren't there? Guess you've notified the local vet(s)....those are most all the ideas I can think of! Sure hope he shows up soon! I know how scary it is to have one missing!!!

One thing I just thought of, and this came from something I read on Catster, if that a hoarder who is obsessed with cats may have got him into their collection, not knowing that he is missing from home. Is there any chance that there is such a person living anywhere in walking distance?

http://bestfriends.org/nomorehomelesspets/resourcelibrary/flyermaker/flyermaker.cfm

As far as the flyer, what kind of area do you live in? When my mom's cat Lucky went missing I made the flyers and put them in the hands of people five houses in all directions, that's how far they say cats are likely to go. Sometimes if people see a cat they think nothing of it because of cats many times being indoor/outdoor, but if you put the kitty's picture in their hands there is no doubt that the kitty is missing. Just a thought, it really helped us find Lucky.

I am sure somebody else must have mentioned this but reading your diary about people going away~could it be possible that he is trapped in somebody's garage or house while they went away?
OH! I hope so. They will come back and find that beautiful boy of yours..
I really think they don't stray far especially when they are timid. Our Sydney Rose (we are all strictly indoors) had an adventure last summer. It turned out she was in an apartment down the hall under their bed! She was so traumatized she wouldn't even come out for food until the following day.
When mom finally found her, she was eating pizza on their

One thing you didn't mention was using a humane trap to try to lure Mr D.

Here's a link that will explain why this can be the most effective method of getting a timid indoor kitty home: http://www.tails-of-hope.org/info/display?PageID=406

I strongly recommend trying this method. You can buy the traps at hardware stores for @$35-40 US - sometimes they're pictured as raccoon traps or opossum traps. The right kind has a spring-loaded door that closes when the animal presses on a trigger plate as he goes for the bait. (Some kind of wonderful food that he loves is recommended.) It will not hurt Mr. D. at all - he'll just be locked in an enclosure about twice the size of a cat travel carrier. Just make sure you can keep an eye on the trap so he's not in there for a long time, because that will make him vulnerable to weather and to other animals. Covering the top of the trap with a towel or blanket to make it look more sheltering is also recommended.

When I went missing for a week I was hiding at least part of the time in the vacant house next door. Mama figures there were times I was locked inside and couldn't get out, but she also thinks I got out a couple of times when the owners dropped by to do maintenance - some neighbours said they saw me and called me, but I wouldn't come. She wishes she'd known about the trap then - I might have been home much, much sooner.
-----------------------------------
Tyler - Mr Boombastic wrote…

It sounds to me like someone has managed to pick him up (for whatever reason, I'm sure all well intended) and they are keeping him inside their house. They may have seen your flyers etc, but like Mr. D so much (he is after all a lovely boy) that they are keeping quiet. Especially if they have a child that has already grown attached...

Have you contacted your local TV station? Often local stations like to cover community/animal stories to "fill in" time.

I keep reading about missing kitties. Almost everyone agrees
the kitty is NEARBY but totally freaked and might even keep silent if he hears your voice. They call it protection from predators. It is instinctive behavior. Mr D is afraid someone will hurt him and he must keep silent in order not to alert predators to his whereabouts.
DON'T trust your neighbors to look for you. As kind as they may be,they won't look as carefully as you.Ask them
to let you look. He is in somebody's house, garage. He is NEARBY

I know how you feel. My cat Kitty was missing for 3 days once and I did everything I could to find him. He was locked in a garage 2 houses down from us. I knew he went in there and even went in with the lady to look for him. The garage was full of junk (lots of places for kitties to hide) and he is afraid of strangers and since she was with me, he wouldn't come out. Three days later, on my birthday, I thought I heard a faint meowing. I walked down there and looked in the window and there he was. He had been in there the whole time. I'm sure you have checked but if there are any neighbors out of town you may want to check their garages. Walk around them and call him.

I assume he had a collar and tag and if so it may have come off some how. If you have rescue groups or shelters you may get in touch with them also. If he doesn't have his collar someone may have taken him to a shelter thinking he was a stray.

Be sure to check the SPCA. I went there everyday when Kitty was missing just in case. Our SPCA lets you fill out form describing the kitty and where he's from to leave at the office too. If they don't have phone numbers of rescue groups, you could check with vets, pet stores (a few of ours sponsors them), the larger ones will be in the phone book maybe under animals, you would just have to check. Once you find one, they will know most of the others.. Have you always lived there with him? One of my friends on Cat Channel had two of her kitties get out over the holidays (someone left the door open) and then ended up 2 miles away where they used to live. One of their old neighbors saw them and called her.

It MIGHT be too late for this but I've had cats go missing (Jake pushed open the screen and fell out the window; Sam went for a wander while I was taking out the trash; Sam went for another wander while I was carrying stuff to the car...). The ONLY thing that has got my cats back is (1) my leaving the door open ALL NIGHT LONG, and my going out at 1am calling softly and with a flashlight.

At the quiet of the night, Jake came out from his hiding place when he heard me calling and saw the light. He crawled on his belly and mewed softly -- this was 1am!!

With Sammy, she came inside on her own at 2:30 am after being out for several days and not being able to get to the door. The first time, it was pooring rain and she couldn't leave her shelter until the second night. The next time, I HAD to be going somewhere because of commitments and I knew she would hide and be save and when I got home, she came in again at 2:00 or so. Both times, I left the door ajar, lights on, music playing, and slept near the door (or stayed up watching movies the last time).

I KNOW that cats are scared outside and I REALLY encourage you to try the over-night open-door approach, go out at 1am and call his name and shine a flashlight. Walk a few blocks in case he has wandered.]]></content:encoded>

COME HOME MR D!!!!

Walkabouts are fun
they make you feel cool
but its about time
you come home now you fool!

We love you to bits
and us olde furts are worried
so return to your home
and please do so hurried!

Then you can tell us the tale
of you incredible travel
without your sweet furrmily
starting to unravel.

So we're waiting, Mr D
and we're having a fit
so to make your return
easy, the pathway we've lit.

So follow the candles
and the angels who guide
to get you somewhere
warm, dry and inside.

So your furrmily can shower you
with all kinds of love

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Yes the tag game is going around again Hee hee and I've been caught by five cats Ashley, Ashley, Squirrel, Playful and Marvin. My furmum Raza was tagged by Arwen. hee hee Now this game is a little different, were we have to say things about 10 cats we know then P-mail them to say they have been tagged Here's the rules.....

Rules are this: I have to pick and list 10 fellow members and say a nice things about them and about the person who tagged me.
I then send a Pmail or Rosette to the 10 people I picked

So here we go

Amelia #421905 Protector of the innocent, a fighter for justice a fantastic cat to know

Alfie #417764 Such a sweetie he needs lots of hugs at the moment and other fantastic friend to know

Jubilee #542518 She writes great stories you should check out her diaries your'll be there for hours as she is writing a story about catster cats and their adventures.

Arwen# 557697 Very cute MOL wipes his paws on the rug after using his litter box. He also managed to change his hooman male slave into a cat person. MOL.

Lucky # 539628 A gental wee soul that's a great mouser She is also Squirrel right paw cat.

Areyel #466234 She's a great leader of the Ferry Federation. she's an amazing cat, she gets around fine on only 3 legs and her page is always fun to visit

Scooter # 144863 Lovable old Scooter a pillar around here. She is doing extremely well for the grand old age of 19 (well almost 19 MOL)

Elsa #560954 Another pillar where would we be without them. She is such a beautiful old lady with very caring staff. Abyssinians are one of my hoomans favourite cat breeds

Hazel Lucy #64639 Amazing work she does, caring for the sick catster kitties with her purr threads. That would take an enormous amount of time. We thank you

Sissy #247217 Does an awesome job of sumarising the weeks post on the old furts group. Again a very time comsuming task and thank you.

I could go on and on there are sooooo many pawsome cat here on Catster It's so hard to single any cat out.

I still have to write about the 4 cats that have tagged me that will have to be another day. I'll be back

Purrs and headbutts to you all.]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Yesterday. The day started out fine, the sun was shinning, that was until lunch time. When the heavens had this old mighty arguement and everything went dark. The storm cloulds came in, there was this huge flash of light then this amazingly loud thundering sound, made everything shake it was that loud.
Then the rain came down, AND I tell you it wasn't light we got soaked.
I can't beleive it, the hooman was at work...... dry.... and she even laughed with customers about the weather. Saying how all us cats would be huddle inside snugg as a bug in our beds.... WAS SHE WRONG...... the rain had soaked the cellotape she had put over the cat door to lock the open latch to open, so we could come and go when we wanted. Well.... it fell off...... so when she got home she was greated with 4 very wet and meowing felines.
I'll tell you, we let her know about it alright......
She feels very guilty especially since she didn't figure it out till this morning. Sam usually goes out first thing in the morning to listen to the birds sing and then usually comes back in meowing her little head off telling everyone to get up. Well she's not a stupid cat, and she did not do her morning walk she stayed curled up in bed till 9am would you beleive it, everybody else was up hours ago, except her. MOL. I don't think she was going to risk going outside again.]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ Playing gotcha - the meme game

I have been tagged! That is right I have been tagged by my friend Bambi and Snow, to participate in Kazumi Joy's meme.

The rules:
Each player starts with seven random facts about themselves. Cats who are tagged need to write on their own diary about the seven things and the rules. You need to choose seven cats to tag and list their names. Don’t forget to leave them a comment that they have been tagged and to read your diary.

My seven random facts:

1. I'm just over a year old
2. I'm really friendly and affectionate and will put up with most things
3. I can play fetch, you can see it in my video (bottom one on my page)
4. I was born in the house I live in
5. I live with my furmum, sister, an old cat named Baltster, and two humans
6. I'm very cuddly
7. I just an all round nice guy.
I tag the following cats on Catster:

King Sabu
Peaches
Loki
Buda
Kitkat
Bastian
Dekan

I hope you will all play, too!]]></content:encoded>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[ My humans and myself are not amused, that 'You Tube' is allowing videos showing cruelty to stay on line. There is a petition out there for everyone to sign. We need this to stop. We've changed the info on the kitten video. If you want to see it, click on the 'You Tube" sign on the video. We've chosen this video because, a few people have it linked to other sites and it has been favoured a few times. So we are hoping the message will get out there.]]></content:encoded>
