Arrival Story:
Birdie came to me when a nice family had to move and needed a new home for their beloved kitty. I wanted a cat to add some love to my warehouse and she seemed like just the right one. We met, and they were right: Birdie was everything I was hoping for!
Bio:
I had no idea what breed she was.. her first family raised her from a kitten but never mentioned she was any particular breed. She's lovely though, and who she is is much more important to me than what breed she might be.
Her colors are so striking though, that I decided to see if any other cats look like her... and lo and behold, she *looks* exactly like a Turkish Van! Next I learned about this breed and I can see she acts just like one too. So friendly and curious, plays with her water dish... smarter than some of my neighbors... and into *everything* ! That's a Van all right. I'll never know if she's "purebred," and it doesn't matter in the least. She's a wonderful friend, cherished and missed by her first family and now cherished by me. That makes her a purebred treasure and that ought to be good enough for anyone.
Birdie loves to hunt and play. She gets the run of a 1700 square foot warehouse and acts like she owns it. (I just work there =) She loves to zoom from one hiding place to another, and stalk me while I work! My ankles get attacked regularly, but always with her claws in. She also loves pouncing on bits of paper and those foam packing peanuts that drift around on the floor. (Extra funny: When the peanuts get speared on her claws. Then she acts like the peanuts are attacking HER!)
Her favorite place is her cuddle box. It's just her size and she jumps in it whenever we come by, because she knows she'll always get a scratch.
