Gotcha Day 2012

Today I celebrate another Gotcha Day with my family. This year I have a new baby brother named Tristan whom I love a lot. Well he's a year old now but that is a baby to me. MOL! He's very kewl & lets me put my claws into his soft long fur.

I have had lots of wildlife to watch lately. We have a young raccoon that stops by looking for food. Then I saw a rabbit yesterday. Plus the groundhog, deer, chipmunks & squirrels. No more fish to watch as last January they all disappeared. My mom has not said much about it because it makes her so sad. Our one koi was HUGE! Every fish was gone so they had to be eaten by a Great Blue Heron as we don't see other predatory birds like that. Grumpy frog is still here much to Ethan's delight. Dad wants to bring dirt & fill in the pond. Mom is not sure. Both feel there is no use to stock a pond just to have the fish eaten like that. :(

Anyway on a happier note I am going to enjoy my special day today. Happy Mother's Day to all a bit early!

Same Old, Same Old

I'm still here & doing fine. I have a good buddy in Tristan but not so much with Ethan. I get in a bad mood when I see him. I guess we didn't start off on the right paw & it has stayed that way.

I sit with the family & watch TV but I do hafta stay on Dad's lap. I don't mind as I am a lap cat anyway. TV doesn't interest me much. I'd rather stare at Ethan. MOL!

Not much new with me as I don't do much in Winter. I am glad Spring is close though. I see a lot more action outside then. I am just waiting for those chipmunks to wake up & come for seed. Way too enticing for me.

Nice to be 3 Years Old

Today I turn 3 years old! It's nice because I am sure that I would not even be alive if not for my pawrents taking me into their house. I am still rough around the edges but that is due to all I went through before I had a furever home. I like my new brother Tristan. He's a real good kitten. He respects me. Still not fond of Ethan. Oh I think he is a good kitty too but he runs from me which makes me want to chase him. Then things turn ugly in a hurry! But not so bad even for a cat like me who would prefer to be an only cat in the house. MOL! Anyway time to go play with my new toys. I just thought I'd let you know how glad I am to be alive & celebrating another birthday. Have a great day my friends!

I know you all know that I got a new baby brother. He's something else. He's the first cat I ever liked. He is not afraid of me or anything. We've licked each other & all! I know- it shocks me too. I still don't like Ethan though. I'm better than I was so maybe heading in the right direction for a happy household. Well except for this noisy grumpy frog yapping right under my window! I will have to talk to Ethan about his green friend I suppose.

Gotcha Day and Mom's Day

Yep, today is my Gotcha Day. It was 2 years ago that I was coaxed into the barn for my dinner. I never was loose outside again. I did have a lot of fun when I was out in the big world but gladly traded that fun for food, a warm home & plenty of love.

Ethan & I are still not too close. I have been nose to nose with him a lot but it either ends with a hiss from him or he gets a swat on the noggin from me. Of course that is a lot better than it used to be. I know he misses the big orange guy and I understand about that.

These days I like to look out over the pond & watch chipmunks. I also like watching the fish swim around. I am very talkative and let them all know what I think!

And I am not going to forget Mother's Day today. Happy Mother's Day to my patient mom. She gives me lots of treats. :) Happy Mother's Day to all my aunties and friends too.

Sizzling Summer

It sure has been a sizzling Summer in my neck of the woods. I am lucky that I have a very cool basement to stay in. I come up daily and go in my crate in the sunroom. Talk about cooking! I get a bowl of ice, a fan and some nice shade. I like it though as I get to watch all the wildlife around our house. I still pick chipmunks as my favorite of them to watch. There is a big bird bath right outside the sunroom door and lots of critters visit it often these days. I never nap or sleep while there because I sure don't want to miss a single bug or animal coming by. Sometimes I go inside the air-conditioned house & watch TV or Louis & Ethan too when it just gets too hot for me. I am so glad not to be stuck outside where I have to look for water, walk on hot pavement or get fleas on me. Nope I don't miss those days one bit.

Gotcha Day!!!!

Today is my Gotcha Day from one year ago. It was a true gotcha too as I was lured into our barn with food. The door closed and I was never alone again. I had to live in the barn for about a week until I could get into the vet, get my tests to check for disease and then neutered. I remember the barn was cold but my mom put a heated disk in my bed and I stayed pretty toasty all night.

I still eat anything and everything with no preference to flavor, brand, chunks or no chunks, canned or dry etc. I am easy to please as I remember when I had no food so it all tastes wonderful to me! MOL!

I do continue to be aggressive toward my brothers despite having Feliway in the house, comfort collars and stuff in my drinking water to calm me. I am immune to it all. The squirt bottle helps for a second but then I go after the other cats anyway. I have improved some in the past year but I still bite my pawrents too. But when I am in a good mood, I am a loving lap cat. So there ya go. I'm just Kirby D and nobody is going to change me.

Still Wild and Loving It

I have not posted for awhile so thought I would today. There is not really too much new. I am enjoying my afternoons in the sunroom and watching the chipmunks & squirrels. I still have to be in my crate while there. I am doing better but still have the urge to attack Louis or Ethan if they come close enough to me. I just can't resist.

One day our mom was blowing some bubbles for Ethan as he sure does love them. He got so engrossed in the bubbles that he walked right up to my crate. I wasted no time and saw my chance so I jumped at him and grabbed him with my front paws! Wow did it ever scare him and he ran away as fast as he could. It was great fun! But he has not come near me since.

My mom is getting worried that I may not ever get past this aggression. It is just about a year that I have been in my new home and while I have made quite a bit of progress, it is kind of stopping now. Nobody wants me to attack Louis so that kind of puts a halt to any new attempts to socialize me with my two brothers. We always have hope though and just remember that at least I am safe and content now to not be in danger outside.

Daily Diary Pick!!

Thank you, Catster and Diary Gal, for making me a Daily Diary Pick today. It's quite an honor. Thanks to my pals for the messages, rosettes and gifties too. It all sure adds to the excitement.

Today is dreary and raining all day so I am watching all the squirrels come for peanuts on the deck. I twitch and my feet quiver as they come ever so close. Lucky for them we have a couple of panes of glass, a screen and a crate between us. MOL!

Life Is Good

Hey every cat! I decided to write and let you know how things are going with me. I have gotten a lot better about attacking Louis & Ethan. But progress had to be put on a hold a bit when Louis got sick. My mom does not want him attacked or too stressed right now. So while I am not out loose, I get plenty of sunroom time in my crate. I love bird watching from a warm spot. I think I would be pretty cold if I were still outside. Plus I would have a lot of trouble coming here to eat with so much deep snow to get through.

I still bite my pawrents sometimes. I just forget and take a bite at times. I don't do this much to my mom anymore but get my dad quite a lot. I even bit his face one day as he went to pick me up from the floor. Yep I know that is not very nice but learning manners is not easy for me. It's lots more fun to be bad. ;) I did forget to mention that when my dad is downstairs in his office, I am always sitting on his lap and being a good boy. Those times are getting more frequent too now. My biggest problem now is when I have to do something I don't want to do- then I get very angry. We are still working on that part a lot. My mom has tried Feliway, comfort collars, calming stuff in my water, etc but none of it seems to have any effect on that angry side of me.

Now that I have told you all the bad stuff, I need to say how much I love my new home. Like I already said, it is so nice and warm. I have all I want to eat, toys, a cat tree and my own pot of cat grass to nibble on. So I can't complain. I would still like to be top cat around here but not sure that dream will ever happen. Well time to go check out the crows who have come to eat today.
