Caught in the act!

Mommy had a salad with tuna for dinner tonight. I strolled into the kitchen and went to my dish to eat, then had a drink. I never beg for table food, but something sure smelled yummy. Then I saw, on the kitchen counter, the rest of the tuna. It was still in the can. Very quietly, I jumped up and helped myself. I thought I was in the clear, but as I was licking my lips I saw Mommy watching me! She must have heard me jump down. This is the first time I ever stole food. Mommy then gave some to me and Tiny. I usually refuse tuna when Mommy offers it, but today I couldn't resist. The rest of the tuna was put away for me and Tiny to share tomorrow.

My girlfriend

I have a girlfriend who comes to the front door to see me. She is black and white and has beautiful markings. She comes right to the door and looks into the house. Usually I am scared of everything, but I don't run away from her. I don't know where she lives, but she goes across the street when she's done visiting. I ight have to get Mommy to look into this further.

My holiday so far

I have had a great holiday! Santa came and gave me lots of presents! I got toys shaped like shrimp cocktail stuffed full of catnip. And another set of toys shaped like sushi in a little ventilate box. I also got mice that look like Mr. and Mrs. Claus. They are lots of fun. Best of all, Mommy is on vacation, so I can nap with her in the morning. Mommy has been busy though so we haven't had a lot of time to play on Catster. We have had some company. Tiny goes right to that company to get petted. I hide. They don't even know I am there. Today it snowed a little so I got to see how pretty my yard looks. I think my critters outside hide when it's cold too. I hope they come back so I can wish them Happy New Year!

'Twas the day before Christmas and we are getting ready for Santa! The tree is lit and the stockings are hung. We wish all our Catster family the merriest Christmas. We love all of you and send purrs to all!

Mommy says she got the best present...Tiny had his checkup, and he's doing well! The vet is giving him Prednisone for his arthritis. She said his blood work is excellent for a cat his age. Mommy is so happy!

We hope Santa brings you lots of treats as well as happiness for your families.

With love,
Tiger and Tiny

My tree

Christmas is the best time of the year. My favorite part is the tree. My tree smells so good and has so many pretty lights on it. And best of all, it's covered in TOYS! Mommy said I can't play with those toys though and she stops me when I want to get one. I don't think that's fair. Me and Tiny love to lay down underneath of it. I love to play with the tree skirt. I had a tree last year too, but then one day it was gone. I wonder if I'll get to keep this one?

A surprise

Mommy wanted to start using a new vet. The vet we currently go to is a half hour away. Tiny went for a followup visit to have his thyroid checked and to have the vet look at his legs in September. He wound up with a lot of extra tests, like another senior screen, and the vet wanted him to be locked in the basement overnight to get a morning urine sample, even though that wasn't a problem and his tests were fine. And, the vet he usually saw wasn't there anymore. The office wouldn't say where she was, either. So Mommy said it's time to go somewhere else.

Today Mommy was working at an agency close to home. There's a vet's office right next door. After work, she went to check it out. When she asked them to call the other office, the vet who was there asked if we saw Dr. Decker. Mommy asked why, and the vet said she works there! Mommy is so happy! Tiny has an appointment on Christmas Eve. Please purr that he has a good appointment. Mommy hopes he can get medicine to help his arthritis.

I had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day and Gotcha Day today. I spent the day helping put up some Christmas decorations. There were all kinds of things coming out of storage. Lots of sparkly things! Things with bells! THINGS!!!!! I couldn't even nap, I was so excited! Tiny went to sleep though. Can you believe it??? I don't know how he could want to miss out on all the excitement. But just when my day couldn't get any better, out comes the vacuum! I had to hide for a while, but not too long. I'm a big boy now and I had to show Mommy how brave I am. Oh, and I got tons of treats and kisses. All in all, a fabulous day.

Giving Thanks

I have a lot to be thankful for this year. It's my fourth gotcha day coming up. I almost didn't get to my first gotcha day. When I lived outside with my catmommy and siblings, the man who lives down the street, who used to be Mommy's friend, caught me in a trap and took me someplace scary! Then the next thing I knew, I was back in the trap, and getting into another car, with the nice lady who used to feed us and her husband. Then I was with my Mommy! Then I was in another car! Then a strange man looked in my eyes and ears and listened to my heart! Mommy tried to tell him I was six months old, but that man said no, I was younger, and he couldn't "fix" me yet! WHAT WAS GOING ON??? Then all of a sudden, I was back in the car, and then I was in another strange place, only this time Mommy was there! Oh, how I hid! I hid for days, it seemed! I only came out when Mommy was close by.

Eventually, I calmed down. Little by little, I put together the pieces of what happened to me. The man down the street had me in a trap, and instead of taking me to the PetSmarts or to any one of the other places everyone talked about, he took me to the Bensalem Women's Humane Society! I wasn't supposed to go anywhere to begin with, but this is what happened. The lady who used to feed me found out and was furious. She made her husband take her to pick me up from there. When they called on the phone, the lady who answered the phone told her they had to hurry up, because it was almost closing time. If they didn't get there, it would be too late. The next morning I was going to I can't even think of it!!!! All this happened while Mommy was at work. She came home, and there I was in the cage. Mommy took me to the vet, and the rest is history.

It was such a traumatic gotcha day. But this year I found out a really sad story involving the same neighbors who took me to that bad place.

There was a little furbaby who used to live in the neighborhood. Her name was Patches. Patches was a beautiful girl. Sometimes she came to my deck to visit with me and Tiny. But Patches loved our neighbor and used to stay on their front step in a shelter when the weather got cold. They would feed her and make sure she had water.

A few weeks ago, the neighbors made Patches come to live inside. We were so excited! Mommy asked the people who rescued me about how Patches was doing. Mommy was sorry she did. Those people took Patches in the house, and after a week she wasn't adjusting to the house, so the woman took her to the vet, and the vet said it's not likely she will ever get used to being inside, and after probably not much discussion, they sent Patches to the Rainbow Bridge! THOSE PEOPLE are IDIOTS!!!! How could that poor girl adjust in a week? They should have had her fixed and let her continue to live outside. There aren't any stray animals where we live, except for some possums and squirrels, so she would have been perfectly safe. Patches deserved to be loved and to be safe. She didn't deserve to leave because somebody didn't like the amount of affection she was confortable giving, or not giving as the case may be.

All kitties who have been lucky enough to live in a warm house with food to eat and someone to love them have a lot to be thankful for. Just to know that someone cares for you is the best feeling of all. Even better than Fancy Feast!
